Default [22nd Budokai] Jackie Chun vs Tenshinhan

I'm having some trouble putting up numbers for these characters at this point, the whole reason is Tenshinhan's kamehameha and Jackie being able to bounce it off, of course it's shown he puts effort into it, still, how can he be able to do that?

I have a few ideas about it, but for those of you who care to debate, what do you think of this fight and in particular the kamehameha scene?

Tenshinhan and Roshi both agreed that the former would've won had the fight continued, so the fight's already decided based on that alone.

The Chou Kamehameha that Son uses at the 23rd Tenkaichi Budoukai is heavily implied to be the first Kamehameha in the series that is actually amplified.

Nobody that we get to see before the Piccolo Daimao arc, with the possible exception of Karin-sama, really knows anything about amplifying Ki.

I feel the gap between Tenshinhan and Roshi at the 22nd could be pretty large, considering Roshi later implies that his younger self was greater than he is.

Piccolo Daimao also implies that Son is the strongest Earthling he's ever fought, which puts him above Mutaito, thus giving us Son Goku (Post-Tambourine) > Mutaito >> Young Roshi >> Muten Roshi.

Unless you think Son got Zenkais in DB, there should be a hefty gap here IMO.

I agree that Tenshinhan is above Roshi. The fact that Kamesennin was able to deflect his kamehameha is the thing troubling me.

I had a few ideas about it, my first tought is that Tenshinhan was just showing-off his ability to easily copy the technique, he wasn't really going serious there.

Good point on the ki-amplification, the kamehameha wave could be just their maximum power level, without going any further at this point.

Roshi was clearly strained after that, but I do agree that was some bull****. Previously when somebody did that, it took a significantly stronger Son Goku than the user to achieve the same feat, though it's probable that Tenshinhan didn't go all-out with it, since he obviously had no killing intent.

Yeah, I'm guessing that's what happened, he let out a kamehameha with half or maybe a little more of his all-out power, which would be enough for Roshi to deflect with considerable effort.

Yeah, Tenshinhan really didn't seem to be going for the kill until he used that volleyball attack on Son Goku, as he stated with both Yamcha and Roshi that he wasn't going to kill them for the sake of the match.

I've only seen the fight once, but I looked like basically Tenshinhan >= Roshi....Roshi is definitely close, and both are of course masters in skill. It was just a great fight, it sucks Roshi stepped down though.

Roshi said Tenshinhan 'probably would have won' or something to that degree. I think Tenshinhan has a slight edge.

I think that Tien's kamehameha was weak, because Tien didn't know how to
use it properly,he hadn't trained in using it.
At an older thread,i had concluded that,at the beginning of Z,Goku's power is
900(no way it's only 400 after all those manyfold increases). So,we can say
that kamehameha is the max power of the user.
Roshi and Tien(both at 22nd)are close in power(personally i have Roshi at
140 and Tien at 150)and Roshi's statement about "would have probably lost"
indicates that the match could have gone either way.
It is never stated that young Roshi tried to fight King Piccolo. So,young Roshi
can as well be stronger than 22nd Goku.

Do we know for certain that Mutaito > Peak Roshi?

Anyway, I think Ten would have won, although I think Roshi had a slim chance. He did very well in the fight, and I don't recall Ten making a massive power up against Goku. I'm also unsure that Roshi went all out in that fight. So I think they'd be somewhat close, but I doubt Roshi could win.

He clearly holds Mutaito in greater regard than his younger self when he talks about the prior events with Piccolo Daimao.
