Heaven Can Wait (Mazera DeVille)
Mazera DeVille Turbo V1.1
This is a fun deck. I don't expect it to win; Mazera DeVille is one of my favorite fiend-type monsters, and I wanted a deck that could effectively summon it. I want to make DeVille a consistent scourge to my enemies - especially since we find ourselves in formats where maintaining a decent hand is crucial! Imagine crushing that advantage with ease! Obviously, this deck is disadvantaged toward Dark World (mainly).

[3] Tour Guide to the Underworld
[1] Sangan
[1] Summoner Monk
[3] Warrior of Zera
[3] Archfiend Soldier

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Lavalval Chain
[Rank 4][FIRE] ATK/1800 DEF/1000
[Sea Serpent/Xyz/effect]
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; activate 1 of these effects.
● Send 1 card from your Deck to the Graveyard.
● Choose 1 Monster Card from your Deck and put it on top of your Deck.
|
The central cards of the deck - Warrior of Zera, Pandemonium, and Mazera DeVille - are all obtainable through this card. Pandemonium through putting Archfiend General atop the deck. The survival of Chain isn't all too important - simply activating it's effect to grab the puzzle pieces makes it worthwhile!
Quote:
Mazera DeVille
[LV8][DARK] ATK/2800 DEF/2300
[Fiend/effect]
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Tributing 1 face-up "Warrior of Zera" on your side of the field while "Pandemonium" is on the field. If "Pandemonium" is on your side of the field when you Special Summon this card, your opponent discards 3 random cards from their hand. If "Pandemonium" is not on your side of the field, this effect is not applied.
|
You want to drop him ASAP for both advantageous and practical reason; his effect only works if your opponents has 3 or more cards in hand. Otherwise he's just a beater with amazing artwork. Currently the only card(s) in the deck able to increase the likelihood of successful activation is 'One Day of Peace' (it also helps keep 'Trap Dustshoot' alive and well). Also, keep in mind that once your opponent knows you aim to summon him, his effect is even less likely to activate properly.

Have you thought about using Rescue Rabbit into Zera into double DeVille?
You could run them along side Archfiend Soldier or something.

I think I considered it at one point... But even then, it (ultimately) doesn't seem viable. Double DeVille is already unlikely. Possible, certainly. But likely? Nope. I haven't tested the above version of the deck just yet, but this is an upgrade from the one I threw together a few weeks ago for *****s and giggles (took it seriously this time). But on another note - Rabbit would also conflict with PoD. Something that (very well might become) crucial to deck consistency.
If anything, Rescue Rabbit would be used to Xyz summon only. With the added benefit of a few Verz monsters being available.
Perhaps you might be willing to help me test it? Modify this build (or redesign it) and try to make Rabbit work out?
Additional Comment:
------------------
Now that I consider it... If I wanted to try Rabbit, I would make the following changes (give or take):
-1 Armageddon Knight
-1 Stygian Street Patrol
-1 Terrorking Archfiend
-1/2 Pot of Duality
+1/2 Rescue Rabbit
+3 Archfiend Soldier
Might be Appropriate to remove Reinforcement of the Army too then; since all 3 remaining targets are also viable with Rescue Rabbit. I might even replace a Summoner Monk or Dark Necrofear with Pot of Avarice than...
I think too much.
Quick question (because somehow this always eludes me) - when double posting, how does one prevent the automerge? I noticed some of the other vets implementing this but never bothered asking.
Additional Comment:
Switched around the inner workings of the deck to accommodate Rabbit; I'm considering the addition of more effect destruction, either through spell or monsters. First cards that come to mind are Dark Armed Dragon and Smashing Ground. But anywho, the duels thus far.
In the six duels on DN I've used this deck, I've successfully summoned DeVille in half. Both matches played with this deck I lost - but mainly because my opponent summoned monsters with ATK barely higher than DeVille's or bad hands.
Thus, in this batch of tests, I've thrown in three Shard of Greed. Whether they work or not in their purpose as draw cards, they will provide an advantage either through being destroyed - or letting me dig deeper into the deck.
I am enjoying this deck highly so far. It's nice to make a sub-par card shine. Especially when it has a certain 'wtf' factor in duels. :3

Loses constantly (closest scale is 1 win to every 2 losses). But it's so much fun I just don't care. :3
Recently, Glamour pointed out to me that Sabersaurus accomplishes basically the same thing as Archfiend Soldier. Laggia is usable.
Best part: opponents confusion. You have Demons, Dinosaurs, and a Dragon. Until Mazera is revealed via PoD or summoned, they don't understand. xD
