A Brief History of Dragon Ball Z

Dragon Ball Z is well known as one of the most popular manga stories to date, with millions of copies being sold since its release. There are two other sister series aside from DragonBall Z, those are DragonBall, and Dragon Ball GT. The series have also been translated to English for production for the US, UK, Australia, and New Zealand. The main character, "Goku", has been called the 'strongest manga character of all time'. The series what written and directed by Akira Toriyama, when conceiving the production of Dragon Ball, he wanted to step away from the western influences that predominated his previous series. Instead, he based it loosely on the Chinese novel known as 'Journey to the West'.

The Show initially started in 1984 and continued production until 1995 when Toriyama felt he needed to take a break. The show was the second animation series made to quickly follow the popular predecessor, Dragon Ball. Dragon Ball Z was also a massive success and ran for 291 episodes. That was later followed by Dragon Ball GT, which was not from original manga unlike the two earlier ones.

The plot follows a boy with a monkey tail named Goku as he starts out on a quest to find the magic seven Dragon balls. During the journey, Goku goes though a large amount of intense martial arts trainings and other programs so he can be able to fight at the prestigious World Martial Arts Tournament. He also faces many villains such as the Red Ribbon Army, the Emperor Pilaf, and Piccolo the Demon.

When he grows into a young adult, Goku comes into contact with his older brother for the first time who informs him that he has descended from an alien race called the Saiyans, and that he had been sent to earth to conquer the planet for them. Goku refuses to help his brother conquer earth, and afterwards must fight many hostile rivals from space.

And then came GT which is complete and utter **** and imo should never ever be considered Cannon by any true Dragon Ball fan.
