So...

I didn't go to Gen Con 2009, but I heard about UDE demo-ing a beta version of their new Marvel Superstars game there.

There's a website up, where you can sign up for more information as they are released, and there's already a trailer on Youtube, featuring....

dun dun dun!

Mods - I posted here because this is the closest related sub forum to post in. I imagine that once the game is further developed and picks up significant online interest, a sub forum may be created.

The former VS System players in my area are looking forward to its release.

Does that seem to be the player base that this game will gather from other areas too?

I'd imagine. There are slight differences, but you still have 50 points, resources, characters, etc.

Looking forward to this release. Anybody have any info on the gameplay mechanics? I can't find anything really about the gencon demo.

I don't get why upperdeck is making a new game, instead of making again the Marvel VS game.

VS was a good game. But it was very hard on newer players b/c the system was kind of complicated (in TCG terms). They're trying to simplify the game to open the game up to more than just hardcore TCG players, trying to get casual fans in.

And VS died because of YGO and WOW. It wasn't making the money UDE wanted it to, so they axed it after the last 3 broken sets.

And they also say it "had flaws".

Also, don't go anywhere near that blog... for your own good. It's a guy who uses the username Stubarnes on everything... he's just a blog spammer. He's been banned from .ORG and another website I can't remember.

My name is Rian Fike. I wrote three years worth of Vs. System articles for Upper Deck. I was voted onto the Pro Circuit by the community. I created that blog to promote Marvel Superstars, and it has very good information and images.

I am also not here to fight with you. Marvel Superstars is a fresh start, for everyone. My blog is one place to get information as the game is being unveiled. This week there will be announcements about the Leader characters, the resource cards, and the wicked cool mulligan that Matt Hyra created.

We recently found out that Abomination and Elektra are going to be Leaders, and that Action cards are the only thing that can be played on an opponent's turn.

The game is really looking good!

Say what you will about Rian's internet persona, but his blog is pretty much the forefront for information when it comes to Superstars. His interest in the game will enhance it, much like it did with Vs.

mmm...I don't think it is that hard to explain. I mean every card game is complicated to explain. But a friend wanted to try it, and played the PC game and he already learned how to play it.

Also, were the last 3 sets really that broken?

This game looks amazing is anyone else going to try it out? I'm thinking I might buy a box. The game has potential and it could have similar success like v.s. and even duel masters had at one time.

I really hope my lcs has launch parties.
