Default Summoner of Illusions Deck

Couldn't think of a clever title, but I don't really think it needs one.

When you look hard enough, you will find gold. I was scrounging through my commons boxes last night and stumbled upon this card. I had built a deck around this card before in the past before Cyber-Stein was released in DB2, but as that was several years ago, I had completely forgotten about it. The cardpool, as well as my collection, have since grown, and I think we're finally in a format where this deck could have a chance.

"Summoner of Illusions Deck" (41 Card Deck)

Monsters (16)

2 Chaos Sorcerer
1 Cyber Dragon
2 Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
2 Breaker the Magical Warrior
1 Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind
3 Honest
1 Sangan
3 Summoner of Illusions
1 Plaguespreader Zombie

Spells (17)

1 Heavy Storm
1 Giant Trunade
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 My Body As A Shield
3 Book of Moon
1 Limiter Removal
1 Scapegoat
2 Gold Sarcophagus
3 Instant Fusion
1 Brain Control
1 Swords of Revealing Light

Traps (8)

1 Solemn Judgment
1 Call of the Haunted
1 Mirror Force
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
3 Threatening Roar

Extra Deck (15)

1 Stardust Dragon
1 Blackwing Armor Master
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Arcanite Magician
1 Goyo Guardian
1 Tempest Magician

2 Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon
2 Cyber End Dragon
2 Cyber Twin Dragon
1 Musician King
1 Ojama Knight
1 Darkfire Dragon

You should try running 3 Blue Eyes shining Dragons... I ran a deck based around them and I used the summoner of illusions to speed him out... he is very difficult to deal with and will be at least 3300 coming out...

and maybe nightmare steelcage for added protection for the summoner?

unfortunately not... the ultimate ancient gear golem can only be summoned by fusion summon... and the summoner of illusions does not actually count as a fusion summon... so you cant even bring the fusions back ...(such as with call of the haunted)

thats why I suggested the shinings... then you can get more than one turns use out of them in case they threatening or have something down such as a marshmallon...

lol yea I never used the steelcages either im not even sure what possessed me to think of suggesting them ... I guess my mind was just shooting off ideas to make sure the summoner survives... the threatenings usually work well enough though... you can try thunder of ruler if they get destroyed too often though...

Additional Comment:

also... instead of the musician king you could try ojama knight... he is the same star level for synchros and he has a good effect... and since that is counted as a fusion summon you could bring him back with call of the haunted to mess with your opponent's summoning... its so fun to see your opponent with 3 monsters try to summon with an effect and chain call to bring back the knight

Hm, the Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon idea is pretty cool. I still have a copy in my binder, and I could easily get another because they aren't worth a lot. I'll test that variation out and see how it works.

I'm running Musician King in the Extra Deck so I have the opportunity to go Instant Fusion for Musician King + Plaguespreader Zombie = Arcanite Magician, and from there I can Flip Summon Summoner of Illusions, tribute the spent Arcanite, and bring out Cyber Twin Dragon (mostly this) / Cyber End Dragon.

Hm, looking at things now, I could even drop the Chimeratech Fortress Dragon for a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon, and probably drop the Cyber Dragon for Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon. I do run 2 Gold Sarcophagus, and between those and the Summoners, the chances of pulling it off are quite high.

Thanks for the ideas guys.

OMG a deck that can competetively run blue eyes shining dragon?? Woah! Personally I'd keep it the way it is. Also I'd say book of eclipse over scapegoat and limiter removal. Why the crap is limiter removal in there?

Quite possibly, lol. The deck doesn't really need Tuners, so I could probably drop the Plaguespreader Zombie and Gale / Cyber Dragon for Blue-Eyes Shining Dragons, or just drop the Plaguespreader Zombie for a single Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon.

Scapegoat's in here to have the tokens serve as tribute fodder for Summoner of Illusions, as well as provide Levels for Blackwing Gale and Plaguespreader.

Limiter Removal works not only with Cyber Dragon, but the two Fusions I consistently bring out via Summoner of Illusions, those being:

Cyber End Dragon
Cyber Twin Dragon

As you know, they are both LIGHT Machine-Type monsters whose effects are devastating when supported by the right cards. Limiter Removal is one of them, and Honest is the other.

That's also why Gold Sarcophagus is run in this deck, to make playing cards like Limiter Removal or Blue-Eyes Shining Dragon (still testing) less dicey. After all, this deck has no true draw power.

BESD is sick, but its negation effect is too flawed... I love summoner of illusions but konami decides everything that would be truly awesome with this card cant be played (i.e. destiny end dragoon, e hero absolute zero).

If this consistently gets out BESD and your opponent actually has trouble getting rid of it ( i think fissure, mirror force, and torrential all can kill it... and fissure is at 3...) Then this is worthwhile. Otherwise Id stick to the Cyber End Path to just get some quick damage... idk

Cyber End and Cyber Twin are my prime summoning targets for Summoner of Illusions. Right now I'm siding the BESD's and will test those later on.

As for the Majestic Mechs, no I haven't. I might check it out, but I'm assuming even if you Book them, either they still get sent to the Graveyard that turn, or when they get flipped up they go to the grave at the End Phase?

They stay alive as long as they're facedown but they die at the end phase whenever they're face up. Even if several turns have passed.

You need to play Gaia Drake, the Universal Force as it doesn't die at the end phase!

Default free 3500 atk beater

You could easily try to play a card such as Gaia Drake, The Universal Force, because it does not require fusion summon, and its effect states that it cannot be targeted or destroyed by the effects of effect monsters, AKA free 3500 atk beater
