So I had these two situations happen this weekend and was wondering if any of these were illegal.

1.
I am turn player

Chain 1: Mektimed Blast on facedown coth on opponent's field
Chain 2: coth on Card Trooper

Would I be able to summon an emperor after this chain resolves?
I am having second thoughts on this because the emperors' effects are option and troopers effect is mandatory.

2.
Opponent is turn player
Chain 1: GK descendent tributing Recruiter

Would I miss timing to summon an emperor?

1. activation doesn't mess with timing, the last thing happened still mektimed destroy coth and your meklord, you can activate an emperor trigger effect chained to trooper.

2. (if the one targeted by descendant is your face up monster) same as the first answer. the last thing happened still your monster destroyed. you can activate an emperor trigger effect chained to recruiter.
