I don't have experience with a lot of the battle moves. Ruby was my first Pokemon game, and I did not try many different Pokes in my party. So now that I am doing Sapphire, I was using the moveset threads and a guide book to choose what moves my team will eventually have. On the lower levels, of course, I'm seeing different moves.

So, bullet seed has been good for me (Lotad, now about level 17). But it is described as having power of 10, and on that basis I never would have choosen it That experience is not unique this time around.

Are there other moves that people have found to be good, even though they look bad on paper?

I also wonder if the movesets are geared to BT, with only 3 team members, and that movesets would be different for E4. And movesets don't indicate what to do in that long haul between maybe level 6 and level 45!

Bullet seed was also very useful for me. I also like false swipe quite a bit but only for catching pokemon.

Rock Blast and Spike Cannon are good because of the 100% accuracy. People may think 'What low power!' but x5 and it's pretty impressive. Also, Taunt and Torment should be given a second thought. Why? Because as long as your opponent doesn't switch, Taunt is like a permanent Safeguard, except for damaging moves that also inflict burn, etc. And Torment can buy you some time if your opponent has only one move they overuse.

I have learned to like the twister like attacks. Sandtomb, Fire Spin, Whirlpool. I mean have you ever thought what could happen if you used all three on just one pokemon? he would take sooooo much damage

Will-o-Wisp is usually underrated, but with a physical wall, the attack lowering can let you last for a long time...

This topic is four months old. Rock Blast/Spike Cannon is for countering Substitute. Taunt only lasts for two turns.
