Whats the advantage of splicing? usually splicing costs about the same or more than just playing it on its own, and that means its one less target to counter. So tell me, whats the advantage of splicing?

You don't lose the card and you can play it again. Useful with stuff like Dampen Thought.

Yep splice is one of those things that doesn't seem too great until you use it. Getting to use a spell 3 or more times without playing it is amazing.

Don't take this the wrong way, Polidoom, but that's hilarious! Dampen Thoughts is a waste of space, because splicing it is a waste of mana, and playing it in general is a waste of space. There's not enough Arcane spells to merit this card, and I don't think there ever will be considering it doesn't kill a creature or really help you win the game.

Very few Splice cards are going to find play. To be honest, splice is a decent limited ability, but its a rather useless constructed ability. The only place thus far where Splice could work well is with burn, with Lava Spike and Glacial Ray, and what ever cards may come in future sets.

Let's hope that the rest of Kamigawa block will make use of splicing, and will release better arcane spells. They might even introduce some different type of splicing like they did with affinity (affinity for basicland). Are you listening R&D??? :D

Sorry, Heretic, but you're on the butt end of this joke. Because of the low Block Constructed quality of cards in this set, RU Splice has tier 1 possibilities, which easily includes Dampen Thought to get rid of possible threats.

My picks for KBC tier 1:

MBC
RU Splice
W or W/r Samurai

:) It depends on the how the user uses it, not the deck he/she is using.

I didn't say that it was good, I just meant it was useful with Dampen Thought, as it basically adds a Double-Millstone effect to the stack for 2 less mana that using a Double Millstone from a real Millstone that laughs if it's countered.

It is my strong belief that Kodama's Might is a wonderful Splicer. It's one of my personal favourites, along with Glacial Ray. Now that's a good splicer too.

glacial ray will easily see play in red decks even if it is the only arcane. it is cheap (not as cheap as shock, but still 2 for 2 is cheap) and there is a chance that you can splice for extra burn.

also not that it matters really, but the glacial ray will not always be red damage which could open some possibilities... maybe
