Attribute: LIGHT
Types: Spellcaster/Tuner
Level: Level 1 File:Star.png
ATK/DEF: 0/0
Card Effect Type(s): Trigger/Continuous
When using this card as a Synchro Material Monster, the other non-Tuner Synchro Material Monsters can be sent from your hand. This card is also treated as a Machine-Type monster. When a Spell or Trap Card you control targets this card as a Machine-Type monster, halve this card's original ATK and DEF. When this card is destroyed, you can add 1 "Tech Genus Cyber Magician SC-01" from your Deck to your hand. You cannot use that card this turn.
doesn't seem too bad a tuner card. normal summon it then tune it with a monster in your hand. what do you think?

Uh, if it's targeted as a Machine? Isn't it always a Machine?
And, what's up with halving its ATK and DEF if its ATK and DEF are both 0?

its just part of its archetype effect. they all have this: This card is also treated as a Machine-Type monster. When a Spell or Trap Card you control which targets a Machine-Type monster affects this card, this card's original ATK and DEF are halved. When this card is destroyed, you can add 1 card of the same name from your Deck to your hand. You cannot use it this turn.
still, i think its a good card to use to synchro summon with

It's a good Tuner for Machines, but not that much for Spellcasters I think.

not just for machines. could be useful for any deck that synchro summons. wish it was real. looking forward to using this card in tag force 5 when it comes out though

Konami have altered the Tech Genus archetype somewhat for TF5. What's changed? (Full text of "new" Tech Genus archetype included at end of post)
Archetype - ATK/DEF no longer halved if treated as a Machine type. Also where Tech Genus monsters could add another copy of themselves to your hand when destroyed on the field, now you don't have to wait until next turn to use those copies.
Cyber Magician - Now can only be used for Tech Genus and other Synchro Material MUST come from the hand.
Rush Rhino - They gave this card a 400 ATK bonus when attacking.
Werewolf - This card got hurt... now it can only be special summoned when you special summon a level 2 or lower monster.
Power Gladiator - Now specifically needs a Tech Genus tuner. Also instead of the effect of drawing a card when this is destroyed, now you can special summon 1 "Tech Genus" from your graveyard.
Blade Gunner - Now when you discard a card to negate a Spell or Trap it must be one that targets, but the "destruction" part has been removed. The removing from play now can only be activated in response to an attack. Finally when this card is destroyed, now you don't special summon its Synchro Materials; instead you get to add a "Tech Genus" tuner from your hand to your graveyard.
Taking into account Konami's altered effects for Cyber Magician and that it only works with the Tech Genus archetype now, I would still happily run Tech Genus if it was released. You still have the potential to get out a one turn Blade Gunner with one of each monster in-hand (yes unlikely but still going to be awesome if you pull it off) and now that being treated as Machines doesn't hurt this archetype it opens up more potential possibilities.
Limiter Removal is now useable with Tech Genus for a start. Get out the two Level 5 Synchros, attack with 3800 and 4600 ATK monsters, then tune them to avoid destruction in the End Phase. If your opponent springs Mirror Force, you can set up either one of the two Level 5 Synchros again in your Main Phase 2.

I was about to say if they half a 0 atk and def monster then that would be really stupid.

No problem PlatnumxStatuS.
I wish they'd release this TF5 archetype into the OCG. I'd love to see Accel Synchro be more than just a one-shot gimmick for Shooting Star Dragon.
