When Eater of Days comes into play, you skip your next 2 turns.
Rarity: Rare Set: Darksteel

I found this card useful while playing with or against decks that run Sulfuric Vortex...constantly bounce Eater of Days back to your hand and leave Vortex on the field...opponent(s) lose 2...but you lose none...

Any other thorughts?

Uhh... How about you just stifle the Eater of Days and then <pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz> slap them. It'd be a lot easier. ^_^

I meant to use it as a combo with Sulfuric Vortex...

well for also 4 mana you can use sphere of law and then you don't have to skip turns.

or for cheaper but in the end more costly CoP red.

or urza's armor for the more wide ranged and protection against most other decks.

or simply run with it and race them damage.

I personally would love the vortex if it also stopped damage prevention.

I like that strategy. Gives blue an option on the fly...

Anyway, my main thought on the eater is this:
If you plan on running it at all in constructed, run many stifles.

An eater without a stifle as backup is like trying to win a shootout with a plastic spork...

Plastic spork, sounds familiar... X0x, have you ever been in the SPA?

would Brown Ouphe work with eater of days the same way stifle would?

No, because I don't believe it's an activated ability.

No, because I don't believe it's an activated ability.

so by playing eater of days are you not activating its ability? it does say, when eater of days comes into play?

No. An easy way to know something is an activated ability is if it has a colon in the ability's description. e.g. Sacrifice an Artifact: Atog gets +2/+2 until end of turn.

so why is it that stifle works and this card doesnt?

Counter Target Activated OR TRIGGERED Ability. That's why.

It's a triggered ability. Triggered abilities have: when, wheneve, that sort of thing. Activated have cost:effect. Sacrificing is an activated ability. The sacing ability on Tinker is a triggered ability.
