The Berry Juice of Shuckle.

Soooo, I got a shuckle today.... and umm it came with a thing called Berry Juice! I heard that from time to time it can turn into rare candy. Does this count for soulsilver? And if it does, how many steps till it transforms?

I thought this was bull too, until I looked it up (http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Rare_candy#Rare_Candy).

From the Rare Candy Bulbapedia article:
In Generation II, a player could create Rare Candies by attaching a plain Berry to a Shuckle. Over time, the berry would become Berry Juice. If left attached to Shuckle even longer, it would become a Rare Candy.

From the Shuckle Bulbapedia article:
If a Shuckle is made to hold an Oran Berry, after a time it will break down into Berry Juice, which doubles its effectiveness (though makes it unusable while held). If held even longer, the Berry Juice will harden and turn into a Rare candy.

I don't know if this still works on HG/SS, but the fact that he's holding one makes me think it does!

It's probably holding one because that's the only way to get the item outside of Platinum. Even though the item has existed in all Generation III games, there was no legitimate way to get one (wild Shuckle hold it in FireRed/LeafGreed, but Shuckle don't actually appear in those games, and in Emerald they hold Oran Berries) back then. As far as I know, the Oran Berry >> Berry Juice >> Rare Candy trick of old does not work past Generation II.
