Well, i have been looking for a 2ed TCG to start, was gonna go for pkmn but decided on MTG after i d/led the xbox live arcade game. Seems pretty fun and i need somthing to do wen yugioh gets stale. Like sat night wen i played a match that lasted 1:45 (because it was top 8 there was no time limit). Jesus i haven't wanted to see a yugioh card since! :)
Few questions on MTG:
1)can i expect the same from real life as in the game? Basically, from my game exp green wrecks just about everything.
2) What is the most competitivly viable starter deck out now?
3) I really like blue's control spells and greens big monsters. Is this a good hybrid deck?

Hey, Kol, glad to have you here!
Yeah, Magic is really fun, and far better balanced than Yugioh in my experience.
1) I haven't played the game myself, but all colors have their strengths and weaknesses. Green is traditionally a good support color to be used in combination with others, but mono-Green competitive decks have/do exist.
2) I like the M10 White-based one, "We Are Legion", though the Zendikar one that has Sphinx of Jwar Isle (I believe it's called "Unstable Frontiers" or something like that, and is Green/Blue) as well as the Vampire one from Zendikar are good as well.
3) Green/Blue is not an unheard-of archetype, depending on what format you're looking at.

People will cal green blue 'GU' just to let you know. :) Black is denoted with B and Blue is denoted with U. Just saving you the future confusion.

Depends on who're you dueled against. For now, it's up to the player to make a consistent strategy no matter which color they choose. Green is no different than the rest. And yes, they can be a force to be reckon with.

Starter decks... or intro decks have 40 cards and a booster pack. That will last until M2011 will reintroduced the good old fashion 60 card Intro decks. For now, they just what they say they are "Introduction decks." However, you can update each one of them.

I've seen the final match during FNM that uses U/G deck. They have different strategy but the most unique that I've seen are this:
Convincing Mirage
Spreading Seas
Calcite Snapper

I've only played the AI, and i don't have a clue what most of the rest of that means lol.

FNM- Friday Night Magic is the nightly activities on Fridays where people can gather to play a Magic... it ranges from store to store and ends until like... 11-12am.
History Lesson- MtG used to have their Preconstructed decks to 60 cards. With the release of the Magic 2010 set, the decks that once called "Preconstructed" to "Intro Pack" and now contains 40 cards in it PLUS a booster packs. People complained and Aaron Forsythe (Director of Magic R&D and a former Magic: The Gathering pro-player) wrote an article (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/72) that says that they heard our plight and they'll change back to good old "60 card Intro Decks."
We'll be making a change to Intro Packs based on your feedback that will begin with Worldwake on Magic Online and the 2011 core set in paper. The intro decks will now be 60 cards rather than 41, the Intro Packs will still include a booster and a foil rare, and the MSRP of Intro Packs will go up less than a dollar, to $12.99. Enjoy!
