Announcement: Refs from other pojo forums do not count towards MTG refs unless there is a tie for most refs amongst traders.

You only get a ref from a trade in the forum you made the trade in.

CAUTION LIST:


The MTG Good/Bad trader list will work the same way that the YuGiOh list works please read the following If you have any questions pm me. Please do not spam in here just leave a message like the following:

Example: 1 Ref for (username)

A. Trading Procedures
B. Selling/Buying Rules New
C. Leaving/Getting Reference Procedures
D. Caution List violations and procedures
E. Bad List violations and procedures
F. Other Notes
1. Name changes from old to new board
2. Stupidity Penalties


A. Trading Procedures

*Upon the completion of a deal, the person who has less references on this board will send to the person with more references on this board, unless agreed upon by both members. You have less refs, you send first.

NOTE: There is to be no waiting for references so you can make the other person send first. I NEVER want to see a situation where, for example, one person has 8 references, and the other has 9, and the person with 8 references says "Wait two days, two people are leaving refs for me". Who sends first is determined when the deal is MADE. If one person has 8 refs, and the other has 12, and they agree on a trade, I don't care if 500 people post references for the guy that had 8 -- the guy that had 8 still sends first.

*If for some reason you can not complete your end of the bargain (couldn't get to post office, ran out of stamps, etc.) TELL THE OTHER PERSON ABOUT IT. If you're up-front and honest, you'll most likely not be penalized.

B. Selling/Buying Rules:

Now we have this figured out. No selling/buying only topics (excluding auctions.) Pure and simple. Simultaneous buying/selling while you're trading is fine, but no selling only topics.

C. Leaving/Getting References

YOU ARE NOT TO LEAVE REFERENCES FOR YOURSELF. The other person posts the reference for you once they have received the cards. If you attempt to post a reference for yourself, you will automatically be penalized 3 references with no chance of getting them back for not reading this rule. If you go into negative references, and attempt to sign up under a different username to trade here, that warrants a ban on all of your usernames. PLEASE pm me with proof of a bad trader before posting that a person is a bad trader in this forum.

D. Caution List Procedures and Violations

Traders on the Caution List are not necessarily rippers, but have made mistakes in their dealings here. Traders on the Caution List must send first. Once a person has traded twice successfully, they are removed from the Caution List.

In order for one person to put another person on the Caution List, they must show me PROOF (e-mails, post office receipts, a link to their trading page, etc.) that the other person screwed up.

The following can get you put on the Caution List:
*Lying about the day you sent your cards
*Lying about the condition of your cards (intentional)
*Not responding once a trade has been confirmed
*Bad packaging of cards, resulting in damage
*Giving someone more than one reference (intentionally)
*Backing out of an auction if you are the winner
*Changing the terms of an auction after a bid is placed, if you are the seller (Unless there was a typo and you are fixing it)
*Attempting to get fake refs.

E. Bad List Violations and Procedures
It really takes something bad to get put on the Bad List. Once you are on the Bad List, you can NOT be taken off, except in extraordinary circumstances. If you plan to trade with someone on this list, they MUST send first, end of story.

The Bad List requires a higher standard of proof. I can't just take your word for it if you say "so and so ripped me" without providing e-mails. I will also give the other person a chance to respond to me privately about the situation.

The following can get you put on the Bad List:
*Stealing cards (getting cards sent to you and not sending back)
*Sending fake cards
*Giving an address that is not your own
*False references
*Impostering (trying to pose as someone else that has a good reputation)
*Repeatedly refusing to send first when you have fewer references
*Multiple Caution List violations

F. Other Notes

Auctions are no longer allowed. So, all rules converning them have been deleted.

1. Name Changes
Ok, hopefully, none of you are on Ezboard anymore, but if you did change your name and have not told us, you just need to tell us somehow (Dream or Secret Squirrel via pm or email).

2. Stupidity Penalties
Effective Friday 2/9/04, the following things will cost you one reference for flat out stupidity or being annoying:

*Posting "Plzzzzz" or anything like that in a post giving a reference to someone else
*Asking why your refs have not been added to the list. I already said up above that if the person has posted the ref for you, you can include it in your ref count even if it's not part of the main list yet.
*E-mailing me asking why the list isn't updated yet. This is not the Yugioh list. Dream and I (Secret Squirrel) are not going to be watching this list 24/7 to see if 1 ref pops up. Just give me some time to update the list. It's not like 1 ref will make a difference, not to mention the fact that anyone who cares to look will see your ref by someone's post.

NEW*Misspelling the screen name of the person for whom you are leaving a ref. It's simply laziness and an annoyance to the administration if you misspell the sn. Copy their name if you must, but just spell it correctly!

I would like to see exactly what you disagree with in the "rules" and I'm intrested in how you think that rules "mess things up" when the yugi forums seem very succesful in weeding out scam artists through thier horrible rules

By telling people that they have to send according to your rules is wrong. Those involved are the ones to determine that, no one else. I think that is what everyone is talking about. Nice idea, I will admit but can use some work. Good luck to you.

this is not a spam just some advise.

when you are on an unsecured site such as this there should be a trade at your own risk policy ref's should not be bombarted by complaints.

if you happen to get ripped and you know it is not a mistake then maybe you should consider a secured trading like all internet shops do say you send first and nothing happens then you should incist that all trades to you are sent first before you have to send out.

basically anyone who has been ripped gets that privilage and can choose to force it or let it slide on occation obviously this has happened more than once otherwise it wouldn't be such a big deal I don't get the whole references thing either. but if it works go with it.

or like you set up a middle man that everything trades through that way no one gets anything until he gets both then both are sent off to the 2 conducting buisness I have done that before and to me it seems like the best way to go and stay fairly secured and still follow the guidelines.

any ideas on how this can run smoothy and then probably more people will be trading if there is less to worry about.

DREAM.....I believe methsnax almost ripped me too....I had worked out a deal to give him $30.00 for a wrath of god and three akroma's vengeance, and not even two days later he posted that he would do anything for them....(I wouldn't trade mine off if i desperately needed them)..just seemed shady to me...so i backed out.

I don't even have to think about this. I looked them up anyway. purdyscrewed and zeldalink6969 are both badlisted for fake refs. I have # of posts, lack of a trade was evident, time between when fake refs were left, and ip addresses to prove it. Don't anyone argue with me on this issue.

Now they can't recieve refs, so I would advise not trading with either of them.

After about 10 days I sent an angry PM asking for my cards (I wont post it because its very long, but if you need to see it I will folward it to anyone)

he responded to my PM saying that

Uh, I think I gave you the wrong address though. I just moved in and that was my old address.

I responded to that saying:

Well if you gave me the wrong adress that should not have affected when I recieved my cards. Anyway I feel that it is entirely your fault if you gave me the wrong adress. Because I sent the 22 dollars to the adress you specified and the one that you CONFIRMED TWICE. this is where you repeteadly told me to send the money, Honsetly do not even try to say that you didnt recieve the money so the deals off. I sent it to the spot you specified and I await my cards.

well thats it basically, he has yet to respond to that PM. I was unsure of how to quote a PM to this thread so I just copied and pasted (SS's edit: I made it easier to read. Tell me if I got them wrong!!). If anyone or a mod needs me to verify the PM's I can folward them to you, just ask. (SS's edit: Seems like good enough confirmation to me.)

hey, i guess this would be a cautionary reference for norbert88

the deal was

we both sent at the same time (according to my records it was 6/17)
and today is 6/29

i haven't received from him yet, and have tried to contact him multiple times via email and pm, with not response

on the day that i sent his, i also sent another trade which was cross country (to NH), in this trade i was sending first, anyway, long story short, i received these on the 25th

i've given him more than enough time to respond, if his cards haven't gotten to me in the time that i've completed a trade (sending first), then there are only three options

1 - the mail is REALLY REALLY slow
2 - he ripped me (off of $4???)
3 - he sent to the wrong address or something with the addresses...

idk if this is necessarily a cautionary reference, i just need to know what's going on, has anyone else had problems with norbert88

i'd like to caution list "razormane". We traded information and stuff, and then he says he wants the helm in 2-3 days after i recieve his cards. So I tell him in to add a few bucks in order to reimburse me for priority shipping and my time (going to post office, etc.) He then replies by saying he can get the helm for 3 bucks w/o shipping his own cards (probably from an online store) and that our trade is off. So basically, he backed out of our trade. I personally, do not think is fair, he should have considered that before he agreed to our trade.

wtf.......that isn't ripping....i was just trying to get a good trade. Second, ripping is only when I take your cards and never send you my part of the deal. We never even sent eachother anything yet....And what are you talking about me getting a ref....if the trade never happened.....neither of us would get a ref...

You could've done many things to prevent this situation
a) Not agree to the deal in the first place if you didn't think it was a fair trade for you
b) Consult an online store beforehand
c) Read the rules

You really need to READ THE RULES.....and use some common sense

Hi...
I sent money for some boxes to samaraiGothic666 with delivery Confirmation and it arrived on the 30th (my money) and i have pm him multiple times and he has yet to respond to my multiple pms asking him what has taking so long since he lives in RI and I Live in NJ and it should take more than 2-3 days for the boxes to come throu the mail... any suggestions.... can you look into it...

Dude, where's my Windswept Heath. On 6-21-04 we agreed to My: 3x Ornithopter Your: 1x Windswept Heath. We decided to simul-send the next day, 6-22-04. I told you I had to send late, and I sent a day or two later. You gave me a ref on 7-02-04, so you must have recieved by then. It is now 7-15-04, 13 days after you gave me a ref, and 23 days after you were supposed to send. I should've recieved your cards about the same time as you did, since we simul-send but that is not the case. Also, about a week after (more or less) giving me a ref, you PM me to say that you need my address. What the hell is this about????? You should've sent a long time ago, and if you lost my address, you should've contacted me then and there. Also, I saw that you put Windswept Heath up for trade again. This really doesn't look good for you, Naruto.

Dude, I have a playset smarts. What would you know? I sent out your Windswept Heath when we simulsent. Do NOT accuse me for cards that got lost in the mail.

For now, I'll try my best to send you a second copy of the card if you do not receive it soon.

That was posted by him 7-30-04. I got the cards 8-28-04. The postmark on the envelope was 8-27-04.

No compensation for over two MONTHS of waiting...along with him lying to me. The only thing remotely close to an apology was "Sorry!!" written on a piece of paper. Yea...sure he is, like I'm gonna believe that BS.

I'd like to place him on the caution list for:

Yes I did read my own evidence, and you posted the part about a second copy on 7-15-04. You SAID you sent out on or around the 7-30-04 if you read the evidence below that. But that is not the case, since the postmark said 8-27-04, about a month after u said u sent out.
