Do you have friends? And are you tired of them always complaining because they don't have enough cards to compete with you at the kitchen table? Alternatively, are you just starting out in Magic? Do you worry that you don't have enough cards to start building decks? http://www.wizards.com/mtg/images/daily/arcana/312_tools.jpg

Starting May 21, 2010, you can hook up a friend (or yourself!) with the Deck Builder's Toolkit, which will contain 100 land cards and 125 semi-random game cards, along with four 15-card booster packs from a variety of recent Magic: The Gathering sets for only $19.99. It's the perfect way to start a deck-building career!
The Deck Builder's Toolkit will also contain a card storage box, a guide containing dueling tips, and expert advice on how to custom build the deadliest and most effective decks possible. And since no two Toolkits are the same, each one presents its own unique deckbuilding challenges!

Two words: Epic ____________ [you choose]

damn, I was hoping I would be first to post this one >.<

Epic Fail, just another scheme for wizards to get more money from new players.

Not convinced, the "semi-random game cards" will most likely be awful. The four random booster packs just scream Eventide and Alara Reborn to me for some reason.

Epic... decent?

I mean, that's a pretty good way to get noobs into it, IMO, and it's only $4 more than the packs it has to get them a bunch of cards to play with. Will they be terrible? Almost certainly. But for the purposes of getting someone to build their first deck and learn to play, I think it's fine.

I was going with Epic Mediocrity.

It is neither bad nor good. Unless the lands have full art instead of standard artwork, I do not see most MtG players flocking to it. For new players unable to get lands from older players, this is good, as lands in my area cost .10 each, so .10 x 20 x 5 = 10.00.

The extra 125 might be good depending on what they use. If they use good to barely playable, we will be good. Cards that never see play, even in limited, should not be included. I wonder if that pack choice will be random.

I am not passing judgment on it yet, but it has potential to be awesome.

If the 125 is listed from playable commons thought MtG [ like from Rancor, Counterspell to Standing Troops, I will be happy], the Lands contain some full art, and the packs are from Shards on, I will rate it well.

Epic Hmm for me. It seems to be a starter kit that's been modified to pull in the occasional casual sealed-decker. Could be interesting. There'll probablz be an official sealed event at next year's Worlds for it.

As a starter kit, it's verz nicelz designed. Much better than earlier starter kits that needed to force a plazer to play green-red aggro or blue-white control for the first few months because that's what came in the box, and leagues better than Intro Packs.

Hey guys, remember that wonderful time when WoTC's only scam to get more more were PreCons? Ya'know, before fatpacks, FTV, Duel Decks,Tool Box"?

Whatever happened to being happy with opening random packs?

Oh well. I guess grandparents will buy these things as Christmas gifts for the grandchildren.

I swore I'd do that this zear, get my presents throughout the year to avoid the stress of getting everything on the last weekend. Didn't work. So far, I've got one t-shirt hidden away for someone.

But yeah, WotC have been making an ungodly number of random products between the mainstream releases. Time was zou only had the three sets a year, Classic Set every second summer, mazbe the Champs decks in the summer. That was it for a long stretch. Then, Elves ve Goblins came along and the dam broke.
