Chapter 3
On the Boat to the Tournament! Exciting Rules and Regulations told, and another Dark Prophecy Revealed!!!

The boat that lead to the tournament was the biggest that Matt has ever seen. Inside food bars were all around and tons of duelists from all over, were chatting and trading strategies. A small duelist ran up to Matt:

“Hey dude want to trade some cards?”

Matt put in his hand in his pocket and pulled out his deck. When he looked at it Matt didn’t just see a deck, he saw a goal he set out to complete, a goal that he has accomplished for too long, being the best.

“No thanks kid I got all the cards I need.”

“Alright, fine.” Said the duelist as he ran off.

Zack came running around the corner with food stuffed in his face

“Can’t you be serious for once?” “The best of the best are here; at least you can use manners when you eat.”

“Hey it’s not my fault they have free buffets here.”

Matt shook his head.

“Well we should be heading to the main room; I heard Bandit Keith is going to introduce the tournament.” Matt suggested.

Both duelists entered the biggest room on the ship. The room was a round dome, with glass ceilings, and round walls. All the duelists were packed in the circular room waiting to hear instructions. A loud boom was heard, and strobe lights started to flash, then the American champion Bandiet Keith walked up to the podium in the middle of the room.

“Welcome duelists to The American National Tournament!”

Cheers could be heard from the crowd.

“Now before we can start the duels first I will explain the rules.” “Unfortunately not everyone will be making it to the finals; in fact not everyone will be making it past their first duel.” Said Keith with a smirk.

“Now in these duels, we will be using the latest craze in Japan; the most technological duel device out there, the duel disk!”

Bandit Keith held up a long piece of white and blue piece that had slots on top for cards. It seemed to also have a wrist strap to hook onto your arm.

Zack whispered to Matt, “Ah so that’s the duel disk, I’ve been wondering what they look like.

“Now” Bandit Keith continued, “This duel disk is different as I will explain.” “The duel disks can keep track of your duel score by this.”

Bandit Keith pointed to five small light bulbs that were positioned on the side of the disk.

“Every time you win a duel, a light will go on.” Keith explained. “And if all five of your lights go on this small compartment will pop out, reveling a locator card to the finals.”

Workers of the tournament started handing out duel disks to the duelists. Once a duelist got their hands on it everyone started to play around with it; trying to get anything to work.

“But be warned.” Keith protested, “Each duelist starts with only one light lit.” “That means if you loose just one duel all your lights will be turned off, and if all your lights are off your duel disk automatically shuts down from the network therefore kicking you out of my tournament.”

“Now that the rules are set, we will be arriving at our destination shortly, once we are there my team will light your first light, and the duel disks will be activated.”

A worker in some kind of grey uniform handed Matt a duel disk. With delight Matt grabbed his deck from his pocket and uploaded it into the disk.

“Oh yeah I’m going to have fun with this.” Matt said to himself.

“One more item to discuss” Keith said, “I will be only participation in the finals, since I will be risking my International American Title.” “It’s simple if someone wins the finals they get the International American Title, and the American National Title.”

The crowd starting talking among themselves, if anyone one this tournament they would be the most famous dullest in the world!

“So good luck and let the games begin!!!” Keith shouted.

There was uproar in the crowd; the duelists were tired of waiting around.

“Look Zack I’ve got to use the washroom I will be right back.”

“Ok sure man.” Zack replied.

Matt left the dome room into the smaller adjacent hallways.

“Gee”, Matt thought, “Well this is it; let’s just hope this tournament won’t last too long.”

Matt was following the signs to the washroom when all of the sudden a pain started throbbing in his head. Matt started to rub his temples, but the pain just got worse, and all blanked out.

When Matt opened his eyes he was back in that same dark room, with that same mysterious table in the middle.

“GOOD YOU HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR, WE MIGHT YET STILL HAVE HOPE.”

“Who are you, why have I returned here?” Matt shouted

“YOU MUST FUFIL THE PROPHECY IT IS UP TO YOU.”

“The prophecy, the champion I must beat this champion right.” Matt questioned.

“BEAT THE CHAMPION IT IS THE PROPHECY FOR BOTH LIGHT AND DARK.”

“Yes I know that much, that is why I’m in this stupid tournament.” Replied Matt.

“IF THE DARK WINS, A SOUL WILL BE RELEASED.”

“A soul?”, Matt thought, “Maybe he means my soul?” “So if this dark part beats the champion he will take my soul?” “That’s not good.”

“Don’t worry talking voice; I won’t let the dark win.” Matt said proudly.

“GOOD, REMEMBER I WILL BE WATCHING.”

Matt thought again, “This champion who might it be?” “Well lets see last time this person talked about the tournament my deck appeared in my desk.” “The voice talked about the future, and the future happened as it predicted.”

“If I win this tournament then I’ll become the America national champion.” “And if I become the champion then this darkness has to beat me.” “But I won’t let that happen.”

“Yea, in a weird messed up way, it makes sense, win the tournament, become the champion, then beat the darkness.”

An observer saw Matt’s body lying there lifeless on the floor.
“I sense a mystical energy coming from that boy,” the figure thought, “This might be the one person that those higher beings are trying to stop me with.” “Well I just can’t have that now can I?”

The figure picked up a cell phone and hit a button for speed dial.

“Yes, I found the boy that is supposed to stop me.” “No, send in the mercenary, I want this pathetic excuse for a duelist beaten before the finals.” “His name? Oh it’s Matt.”

With a click the cell phone went back into the pocket from where it came.

“Hah, that was just too easy.”

The figure started to walk away just as Matt started to groan. All he heard was someone screaming Matt’s name, is if they were trying to help.

All went dark again, and Matt’s head ached in pain.

“Matt, Matt! Wake up Matt” Zack was leaning over the passed out body of Matt.

Matt’s eyes opened and with a helping hand, Matt was standing back upright, a little dazed from what just happened.

“This is just great, you go off to the bathroom, don’t come back for twenty minutes, and here I come and find you lying of the floor!” Zack explained. “Your deck could have gotten stolen!”

“Yea I think I might have hit my head on the wall or something.” Matt spat out.

“Ok buddy maybe you should just lie off….”

All the sudden a bright white light turned on the side of the duel disks and a charging sound could be heard as well. The disks were ready, the duels could begin.

“Well buddy looks like we got some duels to win.” Said Zack

Matt smiled, “Zack, you don’t know the half of it.”
