In casual if your friends give you <pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz><pojo ownz> about it, bet them and that If you are correct that you dont have to have 60 cards in your deck you get to hit them, they will be bruised (make sure to bring rule book or DCI rules) 40 is hardly used, 60 is common however.
If you playing casual, this is major fun! 4 Howling Mines 4 Words of Worship.
Yummy, Life!
Then you Mass up on terrors, BTW my reanimater (totally illegal) is 155 cards.
Mass up tutors, mass giant creatures, mass creature destruction, Enlightened Tutors are great to get your Mine/Words combo out. This deck is totally rediculous when playing with tons of people, you will get some mad laughs out of people. Get Hypnox's Laquatus's Champs, Reiver Demons, Reya, Etc.
Ok previously sounded stupid, but if your really playing for fun, combine 3 of your decks into one deck, it is incredibly fun to do. or maybe just stupid :)
If your playing casual #1 rule = Get Many Laughs/Ridiculous Cards
(This one chick that chills @ the local store bases her deck on cards that "look cool") Lol, its pretty funny.

Constructed decks must have a minimun of 60 [legal] cards. Limited decks must have a minimum of 40 cards. There is no maximum deck size but it may be in your best interest to keep your deck as close to 60 (or 40) as possible as it will increase your chances of drawing specific cards.(unless of course, you have 4 Battle of Wits in your deck! =/.) Hope this helps.

There is , in a way, a rule of how many cards... As I read somewhere at www.magicthegathering.com , you have to be able to really shuffle your deck without any form of help, so basicly, it depends on how big your hands are! :D

Ricroso is wrong, its min. of 40, although very rarely are there tournaments with decks of 40 card min. 60 however is the typical.

Make your deck 60-63 cards. Don't listen to these confusing people. If the tournament you are thinking about joining is a 40 card minimum, don't join, cause it is probably full of a bunch of Type 1 homosexuals. ^_^

In real formats, its a minimun of 60 cards. In limited (which he didn't ask for), its a minimum of 40. Casual is a stupid format, especially for people like me who play for money. Its pointless.

It is a minimum of 60
Limited formats, ie. Draft, Sealed, are the only times you can use 40 card decks

If your feeling really cool for casual get 4 of every tutor ever made and lots of card draw and make a battle of wits deck.
Battle of wits reads if you have more than 250 cards in your library you win the game. These are always fun decks to see played.

People, stop repeating what has been said: 60 cards in Constructed, 40 in limited. No maximum.
Very rarely are their Limited tournaments? I think not! At least 70% of all PT and/or GP are Limited... and these are the biggest tournaments ever!
I don't like that joke about calling people who play Type 1 homos. It's a stereotype and is uncalled for. By the way, Type 1 is considered Constructed in that your decks must be 60 cards minimum. I don't know where some of you people come up with this stuff.

You're right but once you sticky something, you have to sticky something else. It'll soon be that you will have a page with 30+ mantras and a useless forum.

I can understand your point from a hardcore tournament-player, but MTG is called a trading card GAME. A GAME is usually designed to be FUN and CASUAL. Unless you're seriously anal, you should enjoy casual games of MTG. I'm not bashing tournaments or anything, but don't bash casual. Know the meaning of fun.

Because some people are stupid and think that they need to repeatedly respond to something that already has a sufficient answer.. or they think that everyone around is wrong... or they want this board to be shut down because the bandwidth costs are too high to Pojo.

Type 1 isn't that bad. P. S. I'M a homo, so smile when you say that! *grin*
Glad to hear that about the not strictly limited to only 60, though.
