True, but I do expect a couple of the really good slivers from the Weatherlight block since they said that some that have never been released in foil will be printed. I believe though that the Sliver Queen is on the list to not get printed.

I probably won't buy it unless the Queen is in it, but then there is the new card frame which all of the will be printed in. God I love the new card frame xD

The Sliver Queen is on the Reserved list. They didn't break it for FtV: Dragons, they're not going to for FtV: Exile, and they're hardly likely to for this. I've never hated it more than right now.

The Mythic will almost certainly be either Sliver Overlord or Sliver Legion; my money's on Overlord, simply because he's older and harder to get. The five rares will likely be one of each colour from the rare Legions/Time Spiral slivers. Maybe they'll even bump the Stronghold ones (Crystalline etc) up, but I can't see them not putting Brood and Magma in a set like this. I'm not sure if they'll even bother with Crystalline. He's awfully good, and with the sheer awesomeness of a full-foil deck they can afford to skimp on the power level. They do try to make these decks at least somewhat interactive, and Crystalline prevents that.

Despite all that, I'm stoked. I love Slivers. I'm trying to get four of each Sliver card in foil already. I'll probably end up getting four decks eventually.

Actually, the article says nothing about new tokens, so probably no Brood.

I forgot all about Magma Sliver, he is my favorite I think. His art is just amazing! I hope, if he is in the deck, his art stays the same.

I have never played slivers (since I didn't play when they were around), but they look like a broken tribe... I would get it if they have the right stuff.

I was gonna start a new thread, since this one's been defunct since summer, but I'll try here first.

The box layout lets us see five Slivers:

Victual Sliver
Necrotic Sliver
Acidic Sliver
Crystalline Sliver
Sliver Overlord

All of those have their original art. We can't see the rarities, but it's probably safe to say that Overlord is Mythic. I'm hoping the others are still uncommon. Seems that they are indeed giving us some of the more powerful dudes. Most excellent. Probably balanced by junk like Mana Cylix, though. I'm calling it now. Mana Cylix.

I'm not a huge fan of Overlord's art, and as the Mythic, I'd have expected it to be replaced anyway. So right now, I'm thinking they're using the new-art slots to sliver-up some non-sliver cards, similar to how Form of the Dragon is now officially a Sarkhan Vol thing. Natural Selection with sliver art would be awesome.

It's five-colour, Overlord himself is five colours and the other slivers shown also cover the spectrum, so it's probably an even spread.

This launches the weekend of Worlds in Rome. I'll probably pick it up there, though they haven't announced any events using it. Anybody else going?

This is the first Premium deck. The Duel Deck lists usually only get out a few days before release, mainly when shops get them in. On the other hand, From the Vaults: Exiled was previewed a week or two before it went on sale.

So, it could go either way. It's a deck so it's aimed at the casual crowd, like DD, but it's foil, so they may want to drum up interest from collectors, like FtV. Hard to say when we'll get a decklist.

^ I don't think they'll bust a rare slot for lands though. Duel decks tend to avoid that...

I'm also expecting Terramorphics for mana fixing. Those plus Gemhides (hopefully a full set of them will be in) meets WotC's idea of "good mana-fixing".

On a side-note, from what we know, Slivers sure have a lot of sac effects. Could the Future Sight dude that made Sliver Tokens be in the deck to capitalize on those effects?

Some possible nonrare multilands:

- Rupture Spire (taps for any colour, enters tapped and costs 1)
- Archaeological Dig (tap for colourless, sac for coloured)
- Terramorphic Expanse
- Gemstone Mine (it was originally uncommon)
- Henge of Ramos / School of the Unseen (tap for colourless, 2+tap for coloured)
- Shimmering Grotto (tap for colourless, 1+tap for coloured. Yes, strictly better)
- The Vivids

Jace had Terramorphic Expanse which was, like, unbelievably obscure, so it's really hard to predict what they might go for.

The rares are an odd selection:

Only two of the five are actual slivers. Rootbound Crag is nice but a major surprise. Coat of Arms is very nice; fingers crossed for new sliver art on that one.

The Holy Trinity of Winged, Crystalline and Muscle all make it, which is also great. I like this decklist a lot.

... ouch. GvL is probably the least interesting of the Duel Decks.

This releases during Worlds in Rome, which I'll be attending, so hopefully the fact that the room will contain five or six competing sellers will keep the price reasonable.

I think the only chance we have of ever seeing a foil Queen at this point is as a Judge promo, but even then they tend to focus on tournament-worthy Extended cards. That's two strokes against her.

Ultimately, most of the choices boiled down to which ones worked with a Crzstaline in play, which I thought was kinda funny. I was surprised that he didn't show off any of the new art, but then I realised: when did I get it into my head that there was new art? None of the older articles mentioned new art.... Anyhow, I know they're just digital renderings for the website rather than scanned images, but Laubenstein's art looks fantastic in foil. Hope the real thing looks half as good.

Additional Comment:

Got the deck today. The lands are indeed Tempest basics, just one art for each type (i.e. all the Islands are the same, etc.).

The foiling seems slightly different. It kinda looks like regular foiling, but it doesn't seem AS foily as regular foils, more of a metallic sheen on the cards. It may be the packing or printing or something, since the difference is so slight that I don't think it could be deliberate, but half the time you don't realize you're playing with all foils.

Seems solid too, despite the rickety mana base you usually get all the colours you need within three or four turns at the top.

i doubt that they have changed the art for the cards, from what i have seen, they will have the same art as their most recent prints but foil

On further inspection, side-by-side with an original foil (Gemstone), it's hard to see any difference in the foiling. I'm still slightly weirded out for some reason, though.

I played with the deck, it's fun but not amazing. They look much better just sitting in my binder =]

Oh and the deck box is foil too which was a treat, I just would have rather it not been cardboard and something sturdier. While on that note special deck sleeves would have been nice since it is really easy to scratch these foils when shuffling.

i have to agree, the foiling is different and not that good, but the deck has potential.

Yeah when I looked for slivers I only say Garruk vs Lili and I thought about getting them but decided not... (I don't even know who all play magic in my town :/)
