The title explains it all. I like Magic as much as the next guy...

but have you ever played a guy that was so utterly obsessed with the game that he really started freaking you out?

Example...

I was playing and guy who I actually beat (yeah for the newb!) threatend to "cast a spell on me"...and he was dead serious. He then said "Wanna play some real magic?" I kinda gave the "Ya, whatever" look but he just kept staring at me and appeared to be getting angrier by the second. I finally boxed up my deck and moved to another table. The guy just kept staring at me like a crazed lunatic. I finally went up to him and told him" Dude, Seriously! You need to stop staring at me like some damn maniac!" The manager finally asked him to leave and he did. That was just some funky stuff!

Ever have anything that creepy happen to you?

I haven't been playing long enough for my own experiences, but my brother (who's been playing longer) always gets mega-angry when I beat his green/white beatdown with my black fear/flying deck.

Maybe the guy wasn't obssesed with Magic, but maybe real magic, or possibly....YOU!!!!!

Well, there are two "best" guys in my store at Magic. Every week it's between them for first prize [one is the store owner]. Well, the one who played for first prize every week [not sotre owner] gets really mad if he loses his chance to get to the finals..

I mean one week he didn't even win a match.

I have a friend who I play MTG with, but he ummmmm, really sucks. Well, everytime I play him, I win, but he does this thing where after he loses he reveals cards from the top of his deck until he finds a card and then he says, "This card would've owned you sooooo badly".

He also likes to piss me off by creating decks that only counter my deck, and claiming the cards just happened to be in his deck.

i.e. To beat my Sligh Deck, he packed his deck with CoP: Red, White Enchantments that either prevent or redirect red damage [or just screws over anything red]. He uses it and says stuff like "man, you shouldn't have used that..." or "Your'e screwed..."

... Well obviously if the only point of your deck is to counter mine, sheesh =/ I let it slide almost everytime, I'm a nice person.

He also likes to tweak his decks during classes he doesn't care about, overnight, everday... yaddha yaddha yadhha....

He also buys MTG cards in bulk [I mean like 500 cards at a time]....

The list goes on and on...... but when there's no one to play, he's always on the available list.

As for myself, I guess I am obsessed in a sense. To me, a day feels a little more complete if you can play a game or two of MTG. I just love the game. There's always a deck in front of my COMP, and I'm always shuffling it. I guess I can be considered an addict to the TCG.

One time when I went to a card shop that I always go to every sunday I saw these F.O.Bs digging through the binder full of old commons and stuff. Eversince that day I would see them there every sunday digging through old commons while they say stuff to each other like "I cast red spell on you".....

i'm quite obssesed with magic... i brought my 2 magic decks with my on my last vacation, and tried to play, but we never looked for any card shops...
i'm also wanting to get a booster box, or fat pack, or booster box and fat pack (if possible) or even a booster pack and theme deck when CoK comes out...

Isn't really THAT crazy... but some guy I met once got all pissed off at my friend for using a World-Champ card in a tourney (though the store owner specifically said that he could use maximum 4). It was funny, he was shaking his head so fast that all the flab (and he had a lot) on him was flying everywhere. He literally plays every card game and is the one person I know who I can fully describe as a Geek. Or Nerd. Or whatever you call it.

ive never seen it with Magic players. But with D&D players. ohhh.
Once, this guy at the card shop was playin this kid in d&d. my friend asked if it was a good game. The guy shouted at him in such a demonic voice. Gave me nightmares...

Not so sure if this is more along the lines of obsession or just plain bad player..... But there is this guy who used to go to the card store I usually go to for tourney's. Anyway whenever one of the top guys tweaked his deck to be somewhat original this guy would come to the next week tourney saying he was going to win cause he copied so and so's deck, and that it was going to own. The part that makes it sad is that this guy would copy just about everything except the mainstay cards. He never did this exactly, but this is the sort of stuff he would do.

makes a goblin bidding deck without Patriarch's Bidding..... not really bidding anymore is it?

Wonder Deck with no Roar of the Worm

Psychatog deck with maybe 1 or 2 Psychatog only

And the list goes on....

I'm crazy about it every once in a while. I correct Legacy's mistakes every time he's in the mess.
