Trying to get back in on the game. I don't have much of a budget, maybe $50 a week. Any ideas on where I should start? What starters and boosters should I pick up? What's a Synchro summon? Thank guys, any and all help will be appreciated.

Best way to do it would be to instead buy singles from local sites. Find a good decklist and buy the stuff needed for it as a way of getting started. I'd go with Blackwings or Synchro Kitty since they're very cheap to build (mostly available in commons or rares) and also easy to play.
A synchro summon is like fusion summoning on speed. If you have a tuner monster on the field and 1 or more non-tuner monsters whose combined level is equal to the level of a synchro monster, you can send those monsters to the graveyard and synchro summon the synchro monster from your extra deck.
For example, Krebons is a level 2 tuner monster and Destiny Hero - Malicious is a level 6 non-tuner monster. If I send them on my field to the graveyard, then I can synchro summon the level 8 synchro monster, Stardust Dragon from my extra deck.

Unfortunately, the synchro deck isn't quite as forgiving in price for those decks (as cheap as the main deck is). Remember, Dark Strike Fighter and Blackwing Armor Master are both pretty expensive right now.

Well, the rest is easy enough. The point is, that if you take out all of the money cards from the main and extra (DSF, BW synchs, Solemns, etc...) then you're left with a deck worth very little. You then add to that with money cards to gradually make it better. I could easily buy a basic Kitty synchro deck for about £20-30, and then add to it with more expensive cards to gradually make it better.
