Well I'm thinking about investing in a new M10 booster box or two when it comes out. As I don't yet have a standard deck I figured this would be a good way to get started. I'm just wondering if someone could give me the average price of a new booster box when it first comes out? I'm talking retail price, as I have seen many online prices and they are all pretty different. I'm sure as I live in Canada the price varies I'm just wondering how much money I am going to have to spend.

If I remember correctly, I believe they start at around $90. Based on how popular a set is, it'll probably range between $80 and $110, at the absolute most.

Okay...thank you. That is what I have seen from online sorces selling it. I figured it would be a bit higher as it looks to be quite the nice set.

And in your opinion could a fair starting deck be built from 1 or 2 M10 booster boxes? I know not many cards have been revealed but I guess I'm asking is it a worthwhile investment if I am looking to make a deck?

Almost the entire set has been revealed (http://mtgsalvation.com/magic-2010-m10-core-set-spoiler.html). I don't know the entire set yet, so I'd advise you look it over and come to that conclusion on your own.

Oh! Salvation. I totally forgot about that site. Wow...thank you very much. I should be able to come up with a conclusion with the help of that site. Thank you very much.

You can buy boxes for as low as $79.99 plus shipping online. In person, $90 to $100 a box is the best you can probably get.

yeah the problem with buying them online is that they usually kill you with shipping, but most stores sell them at $100 or more, SCG I think sells them cheaper, I buy a case from them at around $480 (a case is 6 boxes)

Retail is 3.99 (i think this is it, we charge 3.59 at my store though) x 36 x whatever your tax is at.

Whatever it is, just go on ebay and order from any number of the power sellers on there. Also, buying singles for decks > buying boxes

Hmm...right. As I don't have a deck at all...and I really have no standard cards. I think I will have to buy a box or two. Just to get started. Sure buying singles is good, but my local store sadly does not have any singles. And I don't buy online so I figure if I get a box or two I can get some cards to build a deck, then use some of the other cards to trade for the cards I need.

Buy 1 box of m10, and see if you can do a mix box of the alara block, like 12 packs of each. That would be a great way to start off.

BTW, as for prices, I usually pay about 80ish. My friend found a deal on some website, for $150 you get a box, a fat pack, a playmat, and all the starters.
the playmat being the one from the set.

Well I broke down and bought 1 Shards and 1 Reborn. I managed to get most of the cards I need for my deck, then I traded for the rest.
