Friday night: I go over to Claytowns, meet up with vlord, jworld, jtown, tayla, Bender and bejuswood. At first I'm running plant kitty which is pretty good, I liked my chances with it. Then I come to realize that it's going to be impossible to get a DSR and Arcanite before the regional so I scrap it and borrow Tayla's LS deck. Most of us stay up until ~3ish am testing and tweaking our decks. I make some changes such as taking out a wulf, putting in 3x celeste, chaos sorc and gorz. It was playtesting amazing against rescue kat and glads. After a while I go home and get an amazing 3 1/2 hours of sleep. Reminds me of the old days of ygo.

Saturday: I get to the regional, do some minor trades, talk to bwood for a while. After a little time, rd1 is paired.

Round 1: LS vs. Spellcaster Spell Counter deck
I can't remember where this kid was from, really familier. He was cool though, nice guy.

g1. I think I went first, had a pretty bad hand to start out. I was able to mill a necro guardna so I think I'm good for a minute. He summons summoner monk > kycoo.... At this point I'm like "great, noob deck", but at the same time, kycoo wrecks me for a while. I make one really bad misplay halfway through the duel and get smashed by a second kycoo for a little bit. Finally I'm able to mill some cards and lumina, lyla, jain him to death.

g2. My side deck is useless, I think I sided into decrees. I open up pretty good, mill guardna, ls monsters and PSZ. Next turn he kycoos me, removes my guardna, psz which I was going to game him with next turn. After a while I'm able to come back and win.

mini-afterthought: After the match, he asks me why I didn't remove my guardnas to negate kycoo's attack.... after a sadface and RTFC later, he realizes why kycoo smashes the hell out of LS. Cool guy though :0

1-0

Round 2: LS vs. Twilight
He pulls out his amazing sakura, hinato, other naruto chick b playmat where they're all like half-neked, kekeke. We talk for a minute, I have no idea what he's playing, but make a remark on how terrible I think twilight is.

g1. He does lumina shinanigans and mills dad, poc's and stuff. I'm like "wow, and I just got done talking crap about this deck" We both go for big swings, I force his guardnas and protect myself with honest's/gorz. He goes for game swing with double jd, lumina, etc and forgets that I still have 3x guardnas in grave :0 Next turn I return the favor and otk him with jd, lumina, sorc, etc.

g2. Honestly, read game one above, basically the same exact thing happens where he tries to otk me, forgets about guardnas and gets otk'd the next turn.

2-0

Had traditional lunch @ Culvers with Crobaugh.
Here's where I start to forget things, lack of sleep and stuff, at least my brain was somewhat in the matches at this time. I can't remember the order of these games much, might have one of rounds switched around.

Round 3: LS vs. Blackwing I think

g1. He tries to do stuff, but threatenings, guardnas, honests, blah blah stop him and celeste does stuff. At one point I fake like I'm summong DSF for game (which I don't even have) by summoning PSZ with Celeste with a lot of other monsters on the field knowing he didn't have tt or force. I'm like "summon plague to synch for DSF for game?" and he Icarus's my psz and celeste :)

g2. I think I lost to basic otk, dsf stuff.

g3. I think I sided in decrees and celested the crap out of him into a sudo-otk.

3-0

Round 4: LS vs. Glads

g1. He sets hiphopoplopomus, 2 backrow. Here's where I kind of misplay. I have a good mill hand, was able to mill 3 diff ls monsters, have 2 jd, reincarnation, honest in hand. Have lumina, wulf, garoth on field. I attack with Garoth, he allows it and I don't honest it for some reason. He tags for murmillo phase 2 and nukes lumina. Next turn he sets another backrow and ends. I try to jd him once, gets charieted, summon my other jd to nuke his field (mirror force and book on jd). Since Murmillo is in grave, it's pretty hard for glad to face jd with 3 in hand after his draw. He's forced to set, I pay 1000, summon another jd and honest for game.

g2. He starts with a backrow and ends. I have a great hand with charge, heavy, etc, but not otk. I charge milling wulf and he Light-Mirros it :( I get lumina and end with gorz in hand. Next turn he just sets another backrow. I heavy, lumina a bunch of stuff. He's able to come back a little by summoning a gladd, setting a crap load of good traps like MF, etc. I'm close to decking so I summon sorc, remove his gb (no chariot), PSZ into stardust and attack over his set backrow for game.

4-0

Round 5: LS vs. LS (top 8's)
This guy was pretty cool, we both knew what the other was playing from the rounds before. Can't remember a ton about this match though.

g1: I pull good, he does to. He sarcs for jd and I otk him the turn before he's able to pull it. I had to go for it otherwise I was pretty dead.

g2: We're at this weird point where he has to kill me in a certain turn or he knew he was dead b/c of my incredible hand. He heavy's and I roar, I'm at 6200. He beckonings getting 5 cards and is able to get like 2jd, lumina and DSF on the field or something for some perfect damage burn :/ He was low on life and would've been otk'd next turn.

g3: I have a strong hand, and have only 2 cards left in my deck (brain and reincarnation). I have jd lumina on the field and he has a backrow and lyla out in attack mode 1 cih w/ low life. I bc his lyla, destroy his backrow and it was only a beckoning. yay!

I remember making a HUGE play error game 3. I thought I had game and went for it, only to realize that I was accounting for an extra card for lumina that I didn't have. I attacked for a lot and should have also summoned and attacked with a guardna to put him below 1k. Luckily he didn't have a JD in hand or I would've been a sad panda. I was sweating balls b/c it was soo hot and I was pissed about that misplay.

5-0

Round 6: LS vs LS (undefeated somehow after swiss)
This old guy has been around for seemlingly forever. I learned when I sat down that he's never t8'd before. He's a pretty cool dude, too bad I have the worst lucks with older people in tournaments. It's a curse or something.

g1: He pulls broke, lumina garoth wulf beckoning w/ guardna's and psz in grave first turn. I try to deck him out and fail. I was two cards and one turn short from being able to pull it off.

g2: We both open good w/ lumina garoth first turn. I had mind crush and ******edly didn't randomly call lumina when I had a really strong feeling he had it. Ended up ******edly calling honest mid game to. I come back and have him basically beat (needed 1 turn though). He flips FIEND COMIDIAN!#$!$!@%@#$%^@3....14.14!$!%@#ONE ONE FOUR!@$!%^$@$^@^^$@^ OMGWTFHAXORZ. I have 28 in grave (guardnas, jd bait, psz, EVERYTHING). If he calls it right, I have a dead jd, beckoning, etc gg in hand. If he calls it wrong he decks out. Of course he calls it right, then gets a charge and mills two wulfs off of it. I can't come back.

GAHHHRRR 5-1

Round 7 (final round) LS vs Gadgets
I hate facing gadgets, always have. They just piss me off soo bad. So I sit down next to the guy I beat in Round 5. He really wants me to win so he can t8 if he looses due to tiebreakers. Then he tells the guy I'm facing that I'm running LS... yes this matters. Lets go to game 1!

g1: He goes first, summons banisher, 2 backrow and ends.... YIPPY YYYYY!$#!@$! My hand is broke, but f'd b/c of banisher. I try to brain banisher b/c I have celeste in hand. I guess he knows what I'm up to and solemns it. I charge for ryko (ditching out of play wulf and guardna in the process....). Set Ryko and end (if you're wondering why not lyla or jain, bottomless would have been gg and gadgets really run nothing to stop f/d's). His turn he summonds a gadget, attacks with banisher that I kill and sets another backrow. Since banisher is gone, I'm able to rechage, charge, blah blah blah celeste sorc jd game.

I side in decrees for g2

g2: He goes gadget 1 set and ends. My hand sucks, but at least I had a decree and jain and lyla or something to that effect. I set decree and end. He summons freaking breaker, breaks decree and attacks, I gorz. Next turn I draw another decree and set it, run over breaker and end. I really didn't want my stuff bottomless'd. During his turn, he gets rid of gorz, does another gadget attacks, sets 2 backrow. I decree durning his end phase. Then he plays damn twister on me, ruins my plans. He hits me for some dmg. Next turn I go lumina lumina lyla (bottomless'd) and end my turn with an honest in hand hoping to mill a guardna. He econs one of my luminas so I don't mill twice (he had vortex in hand so he could gg me next turn). I call a judge over to see who gets to choose when lumina comes back to my field. Judge says it's him. So I mill my three and then we both forget that lumina doesn't work for him and he mills. I draw and bwood comes over and says that he wasn't supposed to mill and he ends up giving him a gameloss for it.

It sucked, I mean he drew a vortex b/c he milled which was gg, but he also had another one in hand so it didn't matter. The guy was really cool about it though and we drew a test hand to see how g3 could have gone and I had the nuts and his sucked. w/e, it happens. He got 9th....

6-1 top8 in 3rd place

Top 8: LS vs LS
I really wasn't feeling like I was going to win this match, but then Daryl Gessler comes out of nowhere and I touch his magical awesome hair for good luck! You can't loose after that.

g1: We both open good, but I was able to jd, celeste, sorc, psz him for otk/gg.

g2: He's wrecking me hardcore (his side deck is infinitely better than mine). I get him to where he has one card in deck, 5 ls monsters on the field, 0-1 cih (3 honest in grave). I have nothing on the field and guardna, reincarnation, sorc, honest in hand (plenty in grave, no playable jd though). I reincarnation for garoth, summon and end. He's unable to get around honest and decks out. Awesome dude though.

Rawr top 4! I get my gift cert, 20 packs and mah new ugly mat!

After thoughts: My main deck was amazing, probably the best LS main in the tourney. On the other hand, my side deck was terrible. Besides decrees, another ryko and another monster reincarnation, the rest was garbage. I didn't have anything sideable against other lightswon which should have hurt a lot more than it did.

I got some trades in so I can make glads, gave tayla her cards back and went back to Clays for some smash bros and Mt. Olympus on Sunday!@

Props:
Lightsworn - thx Taylord!
Chirs Bender for t8ing as well
Celeste, instant pants tent
Sorc and Gorz
Some decent trades

Slops:
jwold 0-2 "drop", funny stuff
couple bad misplays
bad memory
hot as hell in Misty during this thing
Not having a Dark Strike Fighter.. Seriously soo many games would've been gg ez with celeste + psz. I won all of those games regardless, but yeah.

Additional Comment:

It was my turn, I go lumina for lumina for Lyla, he bottomlesses Lyla. Then still during my turn, he econs for my lumina and mills for it during my end phase. It didn't really matter at all b/c he had game in his hand, but irreversable game-state w/e and it's a game loss. btw, that crow was EPICCCC.

Yeah Chris, sucks that you had to leave. You were just killing people that day. At least you got your mat and another t8, the rest is just icing.

Oh it was during your turn, I misread it, my bad. He shouldn't have milled lol. Yeah epic is the right word for that crow lmao.

Great job at your regional. I just had one question about your report.

I charge for ryko (ditching out of play wulf and guardna in the process....).

Was that Charge of the Light Brigade you used? If so...

TCG Rulings[1]

Sending 3 cards from the top of your Deck to the Graveyard is a cost.

If he had Banisher of the Radiance on the field, you couldn't activate Charge...?

Oh, lawl. I thought you could and everything is rfg'd instead. I at least would have still had a chance even if you can't. My hand wasn't horrible.

Nope, everything has to be able to hit the GY to activate Charge or Celestia's effect.

Lucky your opponent didn't know the ruling either. :)

Yeah, I hadn't played in like 5 months so my rulings are a little iffy.
