For those who don't know me I was the white kid with the purple polo shirt and spellground mat
So like Thursday Turtle tells me he doesn't want to come with us, which makes me sad because like I said before, he's pretty cool for a white guy. Anyway me and Carl leave with my dad Friday and get to the hotel around 8 or 9 I think. I test DaDrain against Carl's glads, and it DOESN'T go well??? Idk, it was mostly the draws because I've never had many problems with the deck before. Anyway I eventually decide to try synchro cat, so I borrow one of Carl's DSF's and test that and it goes infinitely better, at least for the majority of the matches. I decide that I'll just play that.
So we get there the next day and I get a free GK guard from this cool guy sitting next to me, fix up the deck a little, and watch matt trash hanshaw with chris asian's piece of **** lightsworn deck. This is what I actually ran:

ROUND 1: CVH vs Blackwings
G1: I push his **** in with Colossal Fighter
G2: I got YGO'd :[
G3: I got YGO'd :[

So I'm not THAT upset because I lost because **** does happen, but I REALLY hate losing rd 1
ROUND 2:CVH vs BK
G1: He's running some bad anti-meta deck, I saw fossil dyna and oppression. I win fairly easily
G2: Don't bother siding, still win fairly easily

ROUND 3: CVH vs Moar Blackwings
G1: I don't remember but my scoresheet says I didn't even take damage. I win.
G2: I took a little bit of damage but I still win it.

So then apparently the system crashes and they play it off as a lunch break. Me and Matt stand at the line for the pizza place only to realize the line had apparently migrated to our left and we weren't gonna get pizza any time soon with the hordes of hungry YGO players around. We wind up going to the cheeseburger place because that seems to be the only other place there, and she takes forever bringing our food. I got my tea, wings and fries all to go and Matt had to do the same with his chili cheese fries. So I'm coming to my next round not only hungry and irate, but with wings and fries taunting me near my feet.
ROUND 4: CVH vs Gladiators
G1: He's tacoman77 on pojo and a pretty chill guy. I believe I OTK him 1st or 2nd turn because I'm hungry.
G2: I win real fast because I'm still hungry.

The whole match didn't last much longer than five minutes. Sry lol. Matt finished fast and I nomnom'd my wings.
ROUND 5: CVH vs Lightsworn
G1: So I'm angry I have to play against lightsworn, having a rather poor track record against the deck in general. Anyway he does his lightsworn stuff before I can do my synchro kitty stuff, so I lose.
G2: I win this one.
G3: I win this one too, though it did go into time. I'm pretty sure this was the one I won off of Soul Releasing my own graveyard and dropping DAD.

ROUND 6: CVH vs Synchro Cat
G1: I think his name was Mike Keith, and I only know that because I played him before at some other event. Anyway he draws **** and I know it this game, because I dustshoot his hand of a sangan, a rescue cat, and three x-sabers. Yeah, I won that one.
G2: Idk what happened but I win real fast.

That was another one of those really short matches, but I believe his draws were a major factor in that lol.
ROUND 7: CVH vs Moar Lightsworn
So I have to play against matt nunn which sucks because he's using lightsworn, exactly like when he steamrolled me in the t8 of roanoke. So there's a **** load of people who were paired wrong and they try to fix it while I silently pray for a re-pair. During the time we play a fun game in which I get destroyed. Even though we wait like 30+ minutes, we still have to play.
G1: He does his lightsworn stuff and ****s on me.
G2: He does his lightsworn stuff and ****s on me.

ROUND 8: CVH vs Even Moar Lightsworn
G1: I'm up against Chris asian. First game he gets, don't remember specifics.
G2: I side pretty heavily and take the game
G3: He does his lightsworn stuff and ****s on me.

So that really sucks that I was x-1 with two rounds to go, looking at an almost assured x-2 record and even possibly a 7-1 record into a top 8. But sadly, lightsworn ruined my day yet again. Final pairings come up and I get 29th, so I finally re-earned my invite. Carl got 43rd and because of a **** load of passdowns, got his invite. With any amount of luck, my dad said he could possibly take me turtle and carl to nats, so I'm looking forward to that.
Carl lost his first round as well, winning 5 more straight and losing his last two, exactly like me, to wind up with a 5-3 record. He was running GBs.
Matt wound up x-3 as well, running synchro cat.
So I do some more trades, pick up my own 2nd DSF, get other great deals, and eventually leave.
