Been gone a while

Hi all,

I've been away from the game for several months now, so I'm out of the loop big time. There's an overwhelming amount of new cards, information, and changes that I haven't been updated on.

I'm considering on building a Blackwing deck online, and testing it, but there seems to be so many different options for it that I have no idea where to begin. Generally, I prefer consistent control builds over faster and slightly more inconsistent OTK builds. I usually like taking a look at multiple reliable decklists to get a general idea of how a certain theme flows and functions before building my own rendition.

As far as my binder goes, I think I have some of the older basics down; Solemn Judgementx2, Allure of Darknessx2, Mirror Force, and the older common staples save Boon of Moon which seems necessary. Crush Card Virus is currently out of the question for me; I'm not too keen on the idea of paying $200.00+ USD for a card that's long overdue for a reprint, especially since I won't need it anytime soon for any events.

I'd really like to know if buying a box of Crimson Crisis is worth it, and the list of Staple Syncro monsters required this meta, or whatever other Extra deck stuff.

Is there any particular side deck material that goes along with Blackwing decks, or do you pretty much wing it?

I really like to side in Gravekeeper's Spy and gravekeeper's guard 2x each.


Nice for Game 2 when they aren't expecting it. and they're spellcasters for Arcanaite Magician

I'll definitely be trying this build out against some other current meta build when I get the chance.

Are Lightsworns a bad match-up for Blackwings, or are the Light-Imprisoning Mirrors just for added security against them?

The only thing I've had a minor problem with is Gyzarus.

I don't remember too much about Gladiator Beasts besides they're ability to clear and lock-down the field to punch through for massive damage.

What Syncros are absolutely necessary to run in the Extra deck with Blackwings, if they are even necessary?

Seems like the extra deck will cost alot more than the deck itself (which is very cheap minus DaD, which isn't so bad either).

So I'm looking at the prices of Dark Strike Fighter, and I'm wondering; Wouldn't it just be more economical to buy a couple boxes of Crimson Crisis?

and you could trade 2 JD and 3 Honest for an entire BW deck., including Xtra Deck

That's true, but what are Light of Destruction pulls like? Last I checked JD and Honest were two secrets out of 10 others, whereas Black Wing stuff comprises of commons, rares, and supers mostly.

Also, I was looking at the fact that Dark Strike Fighter is a super rare, so the likelihood of pulling more than two out of two boxes is relatively high along with getting other Blackwing stuff. Dark Strike Fighter is priced ridiculously at over $40 a piece which is over half the price of a box to begin with, and it's only a Super Rare. Doesn't make any kind of sense.

When are we due for a format change?

After researching pulls from Crimson Crisis, they tend to be awful. I might as well just buy singles at this point.

Think I'll relegate the cash to singles, and one Dark Striker then. Shouldn't be that expensive since I have allures, solemns, and what not.

I just wish YVD was working so I could actually test it before purchasing anything.
