K so we stayed at a hotel the night before since it was like 2 hours away from our house. $120 for 1 king and 2 queens in a suite? Not bad. I get smashed by my teammate Mike using my salvosworn deck so I go to bed shrugging and with 3 slots open in my side deck.
We get there the next day, get some DSFs to finish our decks, and wait an extra hour because too many players showed up. Final count is something like 155 people...what?!
Round 1: Andrew vs. GB Synchro
Game 1: He opens with krebons, I'm like "okay, dad." I mind control and rescue cat into 2x airbellum, discard laquari and TK Raioh?! K I win.
Game 2: More tuners, more gbs, but he really never had a chance.
1-0
Round 2: Andrew vs. Wanna-be LS
So the guys next to me get deck checked, one guy turns out to be running 2x dustshoot. Nice work.
Game 1: He drops Lumina + Garoth and mills wulf and a LS sabre, equipping it to Lumina. I CCV, gg.
Game 2: I open CCV again. Well, that's that.
2-0
Round 3:
Andrew vs. Roberto Cera (Necroface Dad)
I seem to play this dude at every event. Gotta extend my win streak on him. He's nice enough before the round, but always says I sacked him whenever I win.
Game 1: I open CCV and Dark Panther. He plays MST and I crush. I hit stratos, and he's left with Wind blast, plague, return from dd, and something else. He sets pwwb and ends. I summon airbellum to force pwwb, and he lets me discard...wtf? He then says "Oh i didn't know the effect, otherwise I would've chained." I shrug and discard the card I can't remember off crush. He draws reborn -_-. He massively synchros and I can't come back.
Game 2: He summons banisher and runs into spy. He sets no back rows, I drop the monk and otk.
Game 3: This game goes long, and into time. At one point, he uses necroface to send his RFG pile back, but accidentally sends BOTH mals. We realize this later, but what can I do? I figure I did him a favor by not calling him on a game loss. At one point I think he might have game by brain-controlling my monk, but then he tries to discard a monster. GG.
3-0
Round 4: Andrew vs. Randy Sr. (Rescue GBs)
Game 1: He draws awful. I set rat, he runs over it, I grab a rescue cat expecting him to murmillo it, and I realize he has murmillo in hand. Unfortunately, the reason I grabbed cat was because I had 2x airbellum in hand. Well, I drop airbellum anyways and discard and he can't respond.
Game 2: He's ****** me. He's got Goyo on the field, and has taken a DSF from me AND a psychic commander. Bleh. I set mirror force and spy, hoping he'll extend. He drops rescue cat, I'm like "damn besty" about to scoop. Then he realizes his samnites are in gy. SCORE. He drops a airbellum and synchros and attacks with 5 monsters into force. gg.
4-0
Round 5: Andrew vs. AK (Skill Dad)
Friend of mine who I get paired down against. Seems like it'll be fun, at least.
Game 1: I set spy. He opens with 2 sets and a krebons. I flip my set spy and get skill drained. I summon cat into 2x airbellum, go to Black Rose, book of moon it, blow the field. I pot of avarice, leaving cat in GY, draw 2. I reborn cat, go to 2x airbellum again, discard 2, and instant fusion into colossal. gg.
Game 2: I open with CCV, Decree, and Panther. I decree chain CCV and lock his field down. He gold sarcos and rfg's it face down (the judges had been ruling that was okay, so he did it on purpose to fix the ruling.) I point out the DD capsule rulings, and the judge changes it for the day. He then draws solemn pwwb pwwb and I win.
5-0
Round 6: Me vs. BW
Game 1: I draw too many spells and get *****.
Game 2: I draw the otk with mind control.
Game 3: We go into a massive stall-fest, I'm sitting behind a bunch of spies and guards and needle ceiling, afraid to summon airbellum because he's got 2 sets (they were mirror force and mst...I should've DSF'd for game). He clears my field and drops kalut, I'm left with mind control x2 instant fusion and cold wave, and he just pokes me to death.
5-1
Round 7: Me vs Cheesy (bw)
Good player from NM who's topped 2 jumps, I think. At least 1, San Fran.
Game 1: I manage to pull off otk.
Game 2: He slowly gains advantage on me with Whirlwind and I can't come back.
Game 3: I CCV and hit too many targets. I keep advantage with sangan into tuner into avarice, drawing back into sangan and tuner.
6-1
Round 8: Me vs. BB (Twilight)
I get paired up against the undefeated, BB, our old friend and rival. He shrugs and scoops to me. I kind of wanted to play him to really EARN the top 8, but that's how it goes.
7-1
****
Turns out my best buddy Chris went 7-1 with skill dad, my other best buddy Adam got 6th with my salvo sworn, and my other 2 teammates also get their invites and most of our friends get invites, so everything is gravy.
Top 8
They lose my decklist. Lol. I re-write it and go play my opponent
T8: Andrew vs. Louis Ariki (Blackwing/Oppression/Honest/Skill Drain/Plants/???)
This guy is a giant dickface. I see him at locals playing little kids, and giving them dirty looks and laughing because they don't realize what his super amazing godly cards do. Great.
Game 1: I manage to mind control and 2x spy rescue cat into a win.
Game 2: He summons gale and sets a back row. I drop monk, discard, he flips oppression. Awesome. I can't get around oppression and he wins.
Game 3: He really starts turning on ********* mode. He's singing spice girls and laughing at his jokes. At one point, I cold wave and he drops shura gale, I finger my set book of moon, and he goes "COME ON, OH MY GAWD, YOU COLD WAVED, HAHAHA" then attempts to activate power tool dragon with skill drain face up. Nice one dude.
I **** his face off advantage with arcanite after killing skill drain, I'm down to 300 to his 4000. I've got arc in defense, spy in defense, and psy commander in hand, he's got no cards at all.
He Rips- Lonefire to lonefire to lonefire to tomato. Awesome. I can't switch anything to attack now, because if I hit tomato, he'll grab gale and attack for game. I sit back and say go.
He rips- Torrential tribute, set.
I draw airbellum, say go.
Judge calls time. I face palm and summon airbellum to go for broke, he flips the obvious torrential. He shouts "KURIBOH FOR GAME, EVERYONE!" Crickets sound. I'm irritated at this point, so I start shouting "YEA, EVERYONE, KURIBOH FOR GAME, EVERYONE!!!!"
He rips- POT OF AVARICE. Draws no monsters, but I'm too far behind in lp with only 2 giant rats in hand. He wins and gets a smug look on face, I steam and go rant to my friends.
Well, at least I topped. Time to sell the mat.
Props:

Injection Fairy Lily was sick
Most of our friends catching invites

Slops:

Long ass delays
Overall, everything went gravy and now our team can start preparing for nats. Hooray!
P.S. Sorry, I can't provide a decklist with nats so soon.
