View Full Version : Perplexed about Multiplex's Special (Safety in Numbers)

I'd just like to get a clarification on Multiplex's special defense ability, "Safety in Numbers":

- "Damage dealt to Multiplex is reduced by 1 if he is adjacent to a friendly Multiplex."

Does this mean that a Multiplex's dealt damage would be reduced by 1 for EACH Multiplex adjacent to him, or does this mean the damage dealt would ONLY be reduced by 1, no matter how many Multiplex's are adjacent to him?

So far, a friend and I have assumed the first case scenario, which would mean a block group of four Multiplexes would have their damages reduced by 3 on a successful attack against one of them.

In summary:
Is damage dealt to Multiplex reduced by a maximum of 1, or is it reduced by 1 for each Multiplex adjacent to the Multiplex targeted?

Additional Comment:

Bumped. Seriously, any answer or knowing where I could find the solution would be helpful.

I believe that the maximum that damage can be reduced by for this is 1, regardless of how many multiplexes (multiplexi? multiplex?) are adjacent to him. I believe the explanation in this comes in the part if he is adjacent to a, basically just differentiating whether he is or is not rather than if he is and how many.

That makes sense.

It's too bad there's no official Errata/ Clarifications on this to clarify, but since it doesn't specifically say "...for each Multiplex" or something along those lines, it seems obvious that damage is reduced by 1 no matter how many Multiplexes are adjacent to the targeted Multiplex.

Like I said, a friend of mine had been playing them as if damage were reduced for EACH adjacent Multiplex, so this helps.

Yeah, no problem. It would be cool if it did work the way your friend was playing it. It doesn't seem like this would be too broken if it were to be this way though. Of course, he does have a lot going for him... on the right team it would be a little strong... but then again, doesn't every piece work that way on the right team? Haha, we'll never know the true intent of the power though. Oh well.
