I wouldn't. I'd be laughing evilly at the prospect of everyone being shafted out of one of the least useful but most-remembered aspects of the old game and crying over it. Maybe that's just me, though.

as long as there's a shred of backward compatibility, the odds of a remake of any pokemon game are low

i think we're a bit overdue for the GS remakes because the DS was never able to play original gameboy games

once they sell enough DSi (which can't play any gameboy games) and eventually drive the other two out of the mainstream, we could start hoping for advance remakes

Kanto made the game epic. Indeed, the new Kanto was definitely watered down compared to the first where there were things to do left and right, but it was like being able to go through all of Kanto with a pre-trained team with no underlying plot that took time, you could just sift right through it. Plus, as I am hoping, like the original, you start off in the middle of Kanto and you have to work your way back to Pallet Town and Mt. Silver.

I hope they keep the few plots from the original the same in Kanto, such as the destruction of Cinnibar Island (where you get to fight Blain out at Seafoam Island) and Blue and Red.

btw, does anyone think they should have a "silver conference" event near Mt. Silver this time around as a new event to the game?

Not only this, but it also provides a entire new adventure after the game. In the games that followed it, you had the BF and maybe a few short side events you could do. FR and LG had the islands, but they were still fairly quick, however it was decent. With G/S/C you have a whole other region to go through, and that's what made the game worthwhile.

I cant wait. I want to get both. I think they should make a Yellow remake for the DS. That would be my favorite game if they did. A game with the exact storyline and perfect graphics. That would be awesome.

Not really. The time spent getting around the entire region of Hoenn is equivalent to both Johto and Kanto in G/S. This is disincluding the end credits from defeating the E4, of course. Getting through Sinnoh takes about the same time as Hoenn.

Actually, now that I think about it, Kanto in Red, Blue and Yellow was longer than Johto in G/S/C.. At least from my personal experience and those of my friends.

Yeah this is because both Kanto and Johto were drastically shortened so that they could fit both in one cartridge. They had to cut down on both, because there was not enough memory in the old Gameboy/ Gameboy color cartridges.

I doubt they will remake Yellow. They already have Fire Red and Leaf Green. No need to remake the first generation for a third time.

Excellent! As long as they keep the Gym Leaders etc and Red as the finla Pokémon trainer then it'll officially be the best Pokémon game to date in my eyes.

This is the exact conclusion we came to in the official thread. You have to be able to trade across the game from HGSS to DPPt because of these events. If you cannot trade between the games than these events are impossible.

Amazing, how quickly Nintendo was able to make Platinum, and then in just two years (probably not even), make Johto and Kanto in their entirity.

Can't wait to see what Kanto looks like, too!


Too bad they're keeping the same, awful Battle Frontier, though. Holy crap Gen 4's is just plain awful. In Emerald you could explore it. This one if just totally bare.

Sevii Islands would be great, but I doubt it. I think that was an exclusive to FR/LG because there was hardly anything to do once you beat the game (tbh though sevii islands were fairly short), so they added it. Idk, it would just seem kinda wierd to add that here, something that was the highlight of FR/LG, when the primary focus isn't even on Kanto.
