I won the huntik UK regional!! Won a Wii, the shauna and wind card, a very cool playmat, invite to day 2 and a few packs! It was a really good day, i didn't lose a game!!

There will be various store championships in Manchester in the coming weeks, I should be there for most if not all of them, so please do come along (not as much prizes, but still would be very decent).

13th June Fanboy3
27th June Roundabout toys
28th June Fanboy3

New set will be legal then, so come along and play!!

Jack

What deck you use, man? I heard it was heavily good in top 8, which depresses me as I am hardcore evil. :(

What is shauna and wind?

Y2jack

Caliban, Dante's titan 3
Metagolem, stone giant 2
Dante vale, private investigator 3
Kilthane, the black knight 2
Sabriel, sophie's titan 2
Lok Lamber, courageous novice 3
Daktari, enigmatic ally 3
Hoozoto, aztec guardian 2
Enfluxion, wave walker 2
Scolopen 3
Rapid charge 1
Hyperstride 3
Everfight 2
Spider touch 1
Research 1
Second wind 1
Sprint 1
Retaliation 2
Qucik Getaway 1
Boltflare 2

Here is the deck list (it not like its a secret, we can use the new set as of next week!) Shauna and wind is the evil hero with 9 atk and 8 def.. all u have to do is elimate a friendly hero at beginning of round (kill itself if its the only one).

There were 7 good and 1 evil in top 8. evil lost at top 8. They are just too slow for this mission that typically last about 3 rounds (longest i had was round 4 I think). I did nearly lose to an evil cause of the power drain slowed me down so much. before u say anyting, hoozoto won me two games!!

I'm sorry, but that deck looks like a lot of random jank thrown together without a strategy. :p Why only 2 Sabriel?

=/ thats a bit harsh Freiser.

I've got to say the Hoozoto and Metagolem stone giant were pretty epic. Bearing in mind everyone was playing triple Sabriel Metagolem just stood up with his big defense and could take on the Sabriel head to head.

Dont think you realised but this mission was score as many points as possible and shut out your opponent, Y2Jack obviously put thought into this and playtested alot. I can pretty much guarantee he will have a completely different build for normal play, but has proven he can adapt when needed.

Congrats again dude, you deserved to win it 7-0 swiss :) look forward to seeing you at Nats

Wasn't being harsh, just saying my opinion.

the sabriel was a tough call.. i needed a lot of speed, and have u heard of the thunder cut combo? I could lose everything easily if i run loads of 3 def heros.
This is a deck build for the regional mission, i am surprised that not many people actually build a deck specially for this mission actually. Hoozoto is amazing in this! I forced people to exhaust him with their formula many times. If he lost the formula beginning of next round, just have to try and use an exhaust action on him...
Anyway, what i want to say is, it is fine to cheapen my deck, but it would be really unfair to all the great people i played on the day and beat (that and I won on average in round 3, can't be that bad a deck)

I didn't cheapen your deck, you just hadn't explained your choices.

I don't think the deck is bad for the mission you played. I do have to question Second Wind though.

I dont know if it was intended but Second Wind was a thought by some of us in our area because 2 people we know played Slitherfang and could rack up 10-15 points by end of round 1 which basically meant they won round 2. The second wind would ruin that plan alot and there was nothing better then clearing your opponents monsters playing second wind, picking up the formula/gaining 2 extra zones which again basically resulted in game.

I love that quote tbh. He did obviously think about it alot. I liked the look of aztec guardian tbh.

I did have a deck built specifically for the mission, and that was to abuse Slitherfang, but it was just too unreliable to get him and Slipstream in one hand.
I won plenty of games in round 1 with that combo though :)
So it was fun

Metagolem, Stone Giant has 5 DEF...did he mean Metagolem, Icon of History?

Ah this day was epic i managed to top 8 at my first regional event for anything. Winning my top 8 but losing in top 4. was a great day out. that Hoozoto was really evil. played Y2jack in last round of swiss! lost obv. hoozoto turn 1 and picked up formula i was like no......

I ran a very different sort of build more based around stunning and knocking the enemy back to gain points (triple pan triple feyone triple boltflare) with 2 retaliation.

Scolopen was defo the card of the day it was like 1 of the best opening plays to make.

another play i managed to pull off was dropping daktari into zone 5, picked up there formula dropped a killthane next to him =) with the oppenent having 0 cards =)

Scolopen is always nice xD

And me and Allan decided against Daktari, because whenever we played we only ever got to round 3... :\

well, the 2nd wind is purely because my strategy involves in me having more heros than you (notice all my heros are like 3/3 for minor), so i can nearly always trade a minor for a major by ganging up (2 x 3/3 means you can only kill one with 5 atk).. that also means my major can mostly just mow over a minor etc... moving more times seems a really good idea to me! Don't want to run too many because it can be a really bad draw at times. Use enfluxion or horzoto to pick up formula usually force opponent to use their formula on them, or at the very least let me exhaust one of their and then kill another one. Dante, Metagolem, Kilthane are all for quick movement (metagolem never got used due to never making it to round 5).. he is still very big though. I didn't get much out of my calibans at all.. apart from one game, when i opened with two (kept both), then draw one on turn 3.. so didn't lose a single card from it! sprint would have been amazing for picking up a dropped formula in zone 2, and then run off to their zone 5... but i never actually drew it the entire day!

only got to round 3.... dropping daktari into whilst having a kipperin can mean u have a monster ready zone 3 wating to run to zone 5.... or late game in round 3 could potential be droped pick up there formula or users and run to zone 5

evil can be amazing... depends on the mission i think.. i certainly didn't see the slither fang combo coming (nor did i face one thankfully).. i do find them in general a bit slow on the uptake.. so not great for fast missions... (with a fireblade early, by round 5, you would be winning on cards usually, especially if you have a gawain somewhere)

Just one piece of advice for you when typing decklists up (both on forums and in tournaments when you need to write them up) - Be sure to include not only the card name, but the version also. Instead of saying "(promo)" or "(common one from SAS)" all you need to say is "Redcap, Claws and Teeth" or "Dante Vale, Private Investigator"

I can guarantee you that you'll be seeing many more Dante Vales, Sophies, Loks, etc as the months and years go by, so this will be easier for you, for the people reading your posts, and also for judges and even our R&D staff who might be reading your decklists later on.

Glad that you were having such a great time at Regionals. Spread the word around that Huntik is the game to play!

Omistoned, did you get any blow-out combats with Klaus and Strikemode?

Having a practical 8 / 8 hero is huge, and lets Strikemode be better than its typical 2-for-1 trade. I'm curious how it worked out for you in the tournament.

ye good advice about the deck list writing m8 lol thanks and ye dan klaus with strikemode is awesome lol cause i would normally get swarmed by like loads like 2 minors and a major and still come off on top with klaus lol plus i pulled off ferric warbringer reavealing my top card when i played strikemode and added to my hand and played it again straight away cause it still combat lol so can get klaus on 12/12 so basically loled at caliban and the 4 other minors in combat
