View Full Version : M10 Lands Speculation

this is just speculation on my part but Cards printed in the "Timeshifted" part of Future Sight were supposed to be Future Magic Cards that haven't been printed yet.
And I'm guessing the new Land cycle in M10 is gonna be the Grove of the Burnwillows and the other likewise ones we haven't seen yet. This is just going off of the claim that the new Lands in there won't deal with Life loss.

Not that it will effect me because my budget is so small (and any lands they print will be worth a decent amount) but I wouldn't be surprised to see those cards show up in M10. I mean they do do the exact opposite of life loss.

trust me it will not be them they are supposed to be new dual lands
all the lands did not count as a swamp, forest, etc
while these are supposed to count as a basic land type

Did they actually say they'd count as Plains, Swamp, etc? I don't remember them saying that but it has been a long time since I've read the article.

Yes, the shocklands are basic land types. The UB one, for instance, is an island swamp. And the M10 ones are supposed to be like this.

I don't remember reading that, oh well.

How do you think Tribal Zoo worked in Extended? :p
I'd like to see the duals be as interesting as the Future Sight lands. Grove of the Burnwillows and Nimbus Maze were cool; I wanna see Nimbus Maze cycle.

I was referring to the M10 dual lands counting as basic land types in case anyone is confused as to how I supposedly missed something so obvious as the Shocklands counting as said land types.

I goofed. I wouldn't be surprised if they did have basic types; WotC likes Domain and would probably wanna shove it down our throats.
That said, I don't want them to have basic types. Makes things more annoying for Extended and Legacy decks.

I really hate to add bad speculation but I have heard people referring to this comment...

Sorry, painlands, fetchlands, and Ravnica duals. Trust me, the new ones are awesome!
Not sure if calling them dual lands means anything special but it may imply that they do have the Land Types

Or it could just mean they're dual colour. Who knows but the guys at Wizards.

I said this before, and I will keep saying it...
It is the land cycle based off Nimbus Maze.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if that was the case.

Personally, I think Mana fixing needs to be hard.
Via Process of elimination, since it is a new style, we have the following drawbacks
- Sacrifice a land.
- Tap to produce X if you have Y
- Tap to produce a mana X or Y if you control a permanent of that color.
- Discard a Card.
- Opponents gains one life.
- Produces X mana if Y is played.
We already have four unused variants ready to go, but another one is already off the table: Horizon Canopy (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=130574) because it involve using life and adds complexity where simplicity is the name of the set.
I personally believe it will be Tap to produce X if you have Y. Nimbus Maze (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=136045)like lands to make Domain more important, and it makes basic lands mean something other then a reward for an opponent using Path to Exile.
Grove of the Burnwilllows (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=130595) is another good choice, as life gain is almost never a factor unless you get a better effect with the life gain.
River of Tears (http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?multiverseid=126210) I see as a headache for newer players as it is too strategic and not straightforward.

From some ideas that people have said something like this:
Cardname
Land-"Basic Type" "Basic Type"
Comes into play tapped
t: add A or B to your mana pool

Imagine something like a False land. It says its a X Y land where the mana it produces is A or B.
Eg.
----------
Dark Temple of the Waterfall. Land.
Island Mountain
CIPT
T: add W or B to your mana pool.
----------
thats one other option.
there is also making the duals not CIPT but having them legendary. Golden Lotus is already legendary, why not more legendary lands?
Eg.
----------
Nacatl Temple. land.
Legendary Forest Plains
T:add W or G to your mana pool.
--------
just speculation
having legandary duals would help new players understand the legendary rule better.

Usually they would want a land a 4of in a noob deck to take that concept, but then again a lot of them can't get their hands on the card... (I know I have a hard time)
