So, I find out for sure Friday that I can get a ride to tally Sunday, and then Saturday I'm reminded by a friend of mine that he promised to let me play his CCV since he was going to be judging instead of playing. I spend Saturday playing at my locals, missing top 4 because I'm the only one in the store who knew that Armor Master doesn't target (stupid tytannial...).
I wake up around 5:30 Sunday morning, because I went to sleep way early Saturday night. I get picked up at 7, and off we go. I takes us a good two hours to get there, because we stop at huddle house on the way. That was my first time eating at huddle house. Their bacon is TOO epic, but their waffles are like school cafeteria grade food.
We get there and spend a few minutes registering and doing deck lists. I pull crap. Best pull was a rock stone warrior.
Round 1: Me (Spywings) vs Samurai (he was a judge in jacksonville - it kept bothering me trying to figure out where I remembered him from)
Game 1: I go second. He opens with two set back row and a zanji+GM. I open Shura x3, sirocco, trunade, and whirlwind. I trunade, he solemns, I play whirlwind, summon shura, and get Bottomlessed. It goes downhill from there.
Game 2: I set a spy and end with a t-roar down. He plays raioh and 1 back row. I MST, brain control, flip spy, then whirlwind+tribute raioh for sirocco and proceed to win.
Game 3: I open with a spy set and bottomless as my backrow. He NoE my bottomless, then proceeds to win with Irou, GM, solemns, and a turn or two later Shien.
0-1
Round 2: Me vs Harpies
Game 1: I don't remember the specifics well. I win, but drastic drop off is a *****.
Game 2: DDO hits a crush card with in-hand guard...QQ. I still win easily.
1-1
Round 3: Me vs BW/D-hero
Game 1: He CCVs, killing 2, I draw bora+shura+sirocco. I lose.
Game 2: He doesn't Crush, Brain Control+his Krebons = Game.
Game 3: He CCVs, killing 1, I draw shura+sirocco+bora. I lose.
1-2
Round 4: Me vs Simochi Burn
Game 1: He gets me down to 3k and can't finish it. Arcanite wipes his stalls out and I win.
Game 2: Arcanite+his wall of revealing light+dad+BW swarm = game.
2-2
Round 5: Me vs LS
Game 1: I win - he doesn't mill anything good other than a single wolf or have honest in hand.
Game 2: He mills his honests, doesn't have beckoning, and gets wrecked by my only CCV use during the tourney.
3-2
Round 6: Me vs Spellcasters
Game 1: He opens with 1 S/T set, Lyla, and Secret Village. I open with a total of 0 spells in-hand. I win, ending it with a big BW swarm. I honestly don't remember what his S/T was.
Game 2: He opens with a single monster. BW swarm ***** face. Turns out his hand was 6 monsters.
4-2
Round 7: Me vs Spywings
I'll be the first to admit this was probably the sackiest win I've ever had. My opponent will insist it was.
Game 1: He opens with a bottomless and spy set. My hand is god. MST bottomless, Shura+Gale+Bora, DSF, trib bora, drop dad, pop spy, attack/sack/game.
Game 2: He opens with set spy and 1 backrow. I do the same, except with guard. He goes again, flips spy, tributes a spy for sirocco which I bottomless. He chains icarus, hitting my monster and ends there. I go whirlwind->shura->gale->DSF-> DAD-> Reborn DSF, attack/sack/game.
Final standing: 5-2
Props:
Rounds actually starting roughly every 45 minutes, and not having to wait 15-20 between every round.
Moving from 24th to 17th - I'm going up!
Seeing a Simochi Burn - it was my first deck, and I still refuse to trade the Reficules away.
Wes for letting me borrow his crush
