The Pojo Apprentice Program - Revived

As most of you know, Itsuki started an apprentice program here awhile back. It got off to a great start, and then it died, interest was lost, and no one continued to get help. This program has helped me gain a lot of knowledge in competitive battling, so that's why I'm trying to revive it. I've taken Itsuki's thread and just made a few changed to make it up to date.

The Pojo Apprentice Program

Pojo needs a change! Many people here want to get into competitive Pokemon battling but don't know anything about EVs and IVs. So Itsuki came up with this idea.

If you love to battle but aren't experienced, come here! This program will help Apprentices become better battlers through their Tutors. Not only that, but it will also help the Tutors become more knowledgeable.

This program will accomplish the following goals:

1) Help others learn about competitive battling and develop a solid knowledge of the Pokemon Metagame. (OU, UU, Ubers, Suspect)

2) Use experienced battlers as tutors to teach others about competitive battling.

Applying as a Tutor


1) You must show a vast knowledge of the Pokemon metagame.

2) Understand the mechanics of the game. (EVs, IVs, Moves, Ability, etc.)

3) The job of the Tutor is to help your Apprentice become a better battler by battling with them, fixing their teams, and showing them why their team is working/isn't working.

4) Post here if you are entirely sure you're a decent battler and would love to battle other Tutors or Apprentices. Explain why you would be a good Tutor.

Applying as an Apprentice


1) You must be willing to listen and show respect to your Tutor and be open to new suggestions.

2) Be willing to battle other Apprentices or Tutors.

3) The job of the Apprentice is to listen to your Tutor and not only become better at competitive battling or how it works, but to also help the Tutor is a way.

4) Post here if you want to learn about competitive battling. Explain why you want to join the Program.

The Rules/Info


Regarding Tutors/Apprentices

1) All Tutors must have time to battle and teach their Apprentices. This includes team building.

2) Tutors may choose their Apprentices. Apprentices choose their Tutors. Do whatever you want.

3) If there is more apprentices than tutors, the tutor may take 2 apprentices. Only take 2 if all tutors have atleast 1 apprentice already, don't hog all the fun!

Regarding Joining

1) There are unlimited people who can join. This program is to help people.

Regarding Battles

1) You may use Shoddy or Wi-Fi.

2) You may record or post warstories of your battles to show the experience you have gained. Although if your opponent doesn't want you to post or record a battle, don't do it.

3) There will be tournaments periodically to show the progress of the Apprentice and to further allow teaching oppurtunities.

Brief Explanation on your Pokemon Experience: I'm pretty well experienced and know a ton about it and have played and complete at least one game from every Generation except GSC, I've played it but never completed a game because I never owned it and plan on doing it in the new HG/SS games.

Current Knowledge of Game Mechanics: I know a little bit about IVs and EVs. Specifically IV's is a max of 31 and EV's is a max of 255 per stat and a max of 510 combined between two stats. A few other things as well I just want to expand my knowledge. I probably could learn to EV/IV train but never taken the time and this will sorta give me that motivation to "push" me towards learning more about the mechanics of the game.

The tutor could only give you examples about predictions, in words and battles. I think normal battles would help more ^^

Brief Explanation of Pokemon Experience: Been playing since Red and Blue, but stopped when Ruby and Sapphire came out. Luckily, I picked up Pokemon again Christmas 2007 with Emerald, and I've continued playing since.

Now to clarify my lingo on the pairs list, v4lor is tutored by R_To_Shoot1, and papuito is tutored by R_To_Shoot2. This will be how it works with all the tutors that get multiple apprentices. This means that R_To_Shoot, and all other double dutying tutors, will play twice in each round of the tournaments once they get started. This is to avoid having to give out byes during the Tournament. Feel free to ask any questions you might have regarding this.

I need some evidence that wezzy is a hacker, wezzy provided evidence when he reported Shino, so that's why he was kicked out. Atleast wezzy had the decency to do his over a pm, and not in the thread. My pokemon are legal hacks, meaning they don't have illegal ivs/evs. According to wezzy, and through the evidence provided in his pm, Shino's were not legal.

I thought you were joking all this time about that, sorry. This means you'll be playing 3 times in the tournament, well, depending on how many of your apprentices you enter.

Anyways, I'm going to be gone until around July 20th. Hopefully there will be a mod around to take care of adding people to the OP, and all that. If not, I'll take care of it when I get back. I would like to start the Tournament when I return, since we have quite a few pairs, it should be a good tournament.

Shino, I no longer have the pm. Just cleared my inbox. The issue is resolved, as long as there no more problems with you and your tutors, things will be fine.

Tutors, try to meet with your apprentices sometime this week. Next week I will be making the Tournament thread and instead of pming all my tutors, the tutors will just post there saying which apprentices they are going to enter with.

Now, in the meantime, I need to know if I should make the tournament thread/threads in the Project forum since it is related to a project, or in the regulard battle request forum since that is where the tournaments go. It really doesn't matter to me, I just want to know to put it in the right place. Like I said, I'll be making it most likely on Monday, a week from tomorrow.

If this thread, by some act of God lol, hits post 500, just let it run over, and I will make the new thread when I return. I do have wifi at my hotel in Florida, but I don't want to be on the entire time, I am on vacation and all still.

I'll let you all know when the thread is up, most likely it'll go in the regular wifi forum, since no one shared their opinion on that matter.
