Attention all VA,NC,SC players

Or players near that area. So I was at SCG today and I guess Nick read my post about $20 being **** for entry fee when prize support was jank. So he asked me what would be appropriate prize support for a $20 entry I stammered at first but came up with the idea for Wii/game system tournaments. So how do you feel about this would it encourage to come out and play? Or better yet what would you like to see from SCG?

For a $20 tournament something like a Wii, DS or PSP would be good for 1st. The PSP and DS would be cost effective. With a Wii they would need to pull a good crowd to recoupe their losses. If thats not possible up the box count a little. 2-2 1/2 boxes for 1st would be suitable. I was planning to come down and play but just in the side events for $10. Which had the same prize for 1st.
If they are changing it up I may enter the main event.

That sounds good, but they could change it up and do like a DSi for first since it's like the new "hype" right now. . .but yeah game system tourneys will always turn out a good crowd, epically if they put it in the Raleigh/Durham area. . .

when i lived in florida, any tournament that had electronics as prize, had a good turnout, and people would travel 3-5 hours for it.

It doesn't make any sense to me either. Having high level cash tournaments would be a great way for getting attendance up at events but Konami just doesn't want to operate that way I guess.

I'd be all over any of the gaming systems tournies. Wii, DSi, and 360's in particular. You could throw a stone in any direction and hit someone begging for them to take a PS3 off their hands. It just doesn't have the same value.

Hell I'll put it like this... I'd drive to roanoke for a DSi tournament (lets say top 4 get DSi's with top 2 getting a little something extra like a box or so?) before I would a PS3 tournament.

DSi is 170 retail. You give top 2 the DSi's (340+NCtax since i dont kno VA = 363 total cost) with an entry fee of 15 a head and you'd only need 25 to break even. Now thats not THAT much of a profit so provided the support for 3-8 place was decent I could see some solid attendance even at the 20 a head price tag.


But to be perfectly honest for the SCG reps reading/listening in... we really just want Regionals again. So whatever you have to do to get PTO status and regs back up in running preferably a month or so before nats so we can qualify I will guaruntee at least 20 people from my local alone will attend at $15 a head.

Trust me you have them and we will come because frankly we're desperate for the events. We applaud you guys for attempting the CCV tournies despite their limited success. But don't judge those turnouts on the turnouts of regs in places like Charlotte, Gboro, Durham, Richmond, and even Roanoke. We will come in ******* droves if you get regionals back online.

nah man, it was tried about 4 times over the past 3 years, several of them had less than 30 show up. for the $1,00.00 tourneys i mean. as for neutral locations, now your adding in space cost which is around a grand for tables, chairs and space for the day. Now you need 100 minimum at 20.00 each to break even for the event, BEFORE paying judges to come.

i completely agree the set sucks, but sadly the official release for rgbt isnt til the following tuesday so were kinda stuck with the CC set. as for the mat, ill gladly buy the mat if anyone wants to sell it. as for the packs, well you got me there.

ebay sucks, used to be awesome, til they raised they're fees from 4.5% to nearly 12%. But, its about the only way us small guys can make it anymore. its seriously expensive to get a website up and running + advertise it to bring in the masses.

I highly doubt they will be the only ones to hold regions in this tri state area...I just used them as examples.

I can't speak for Kaboom, but if Comic Kings holds a regionals they are renting out a area in a hotel, like a conference area.

But I just don't like the time factor we have to deal with Its just too short a notice IMO and it isn't fair to the people who earned their invite under stricter circumstances (Top 4 only) and may not be able to attend a regional because there is none within a reasonable distance. The **** is really rediculous I mean it has been a week since the first regionals were announced and we see no more posted since then and we only have about 7-8 weeks until nats some stores haven't even received hobby league Cossy kits and have no idea when they're getting them. Idk I just seems like too much has to be done in too little time I could be wrong though we will have to see.

I have considered the other states...what store wouldn't want to hold a regionals and attract an easy 32 people with $20 a head? And 32 is a guess...people are still gonna be regional headz going from state 2 state so they can cred 5 regional T32 invites.

well just for the rest of this season it will be like that. And im gonna assume they are only gonna have regionals at stores that have alot of room. i look at the list, and half of them are at stores, and the other half are at convention centers/hotels.

It be dumb if every store, even majority of stores have regionals. i hope they only have a certain amount of stores. regionals would be just like locals, if they were that way.

I'm sorry that you feel that way about playing in the mall, but please know that we're going to do everything in our power to separate the players from the general mall populace. I didn't mean to teeeeelllll anyone anything :)
But if you know me, then you know that I'll do everything in my power to make sure that people have a good time when they're here. And that's for regular weekly tournaments as well as big events. I don't want people to think that "playing in a mall" means they're stuck between a pretzel vendor and a cell phone kiosk. We'll have designated areas that will be players only. It won't be at a convention center, but that just means you won't have to drive anywhere for food. :)

In florida they have reigonals at the mall, and it wasnt inside a store either, it was out in the open. my point is that its really not bad at all they way its set up. and from what i hear u guys didnt have mall tours around here.

Robert. Hi it's Christopher Walters. Puffy is Dale Perdue. He is in the yarn doing some work on a car... I will pass along to him what you saying, but ther no way he will be by this weekend. We are going to be at the beach ths weekend. For as the regionals mat thing. Our team is twelve members. About nine of us have regionals mats. Puffy has three.. We all want to play in the regionals. As the title said, Konami has not released us to promote it yet, we just found out we have one here and we are in negoiating stage. I would suggest that since you think the PTO scene is better than Konami that you go where you are comfortable. 300 stores have been given this responsibility, we did not have to apply for it and Konami did not have to grant it. I am sure Star City will be doing a great job in VA. I am sure that for those who play here, we too will do a good job. But there are limits, and we are not putting a gun to anyone's head. Puffy said I banned him in the Past, but everyone knows the struggles we have gone thru, so if he and I cant reconcile it then so be it but that is between us. My advice for you is seek out your own comfort zone, the place where you want to play and reserve a spot as this is allocated seating. Star City will have the largest seating I am sure. But dont wait too long unless you want to risk not having a spot somewhere. We are on the Locater if you want to contact try the direct approach. I dont have all day to hang around and answer question here.
