Does FireRed and LeafGreen take place when R/B/Y/ was out or is it during present time?

Damn tough question...kk they're re-makes of the oringinals..yet they have updated graphics, and some new pokemon unavailable in the originals...I'm not sure how to answer

They are of the alternate universe of Red and Blue.This is if Hoenen Pokemon stormed the original games and the graphics were better.....Or the whole timeline thing is crap.In closing if you want a definate answer,it is the past.

I agree with him, I mean look at the girl in the Manga area & at the Kanto characters on Serebii.net, then look at the girl character in Fire Red & Leaf Green, they are the same person. So I'm saying that is the Manga time line

I say past. They just didn't put some islands in the game. [Probably coudn't put anymore stuff on the game.]

im pretty sure its past. cuz my frend downloaded them for free, and said it said it was a re-make of the R/B/Y games.

GSC was the only generation of games that formed timeline. Before and after GSC, there is no timeline. If I had to guess, I'd say post-RBY, maybe a year after it.
