If I had to complain about one thing in JK's absolutely brilliant series, it's that Harry hasn't lived up to the hype of his scar yet - he hasn't earned it in a sense. I read through Order hoping and hoping that Harry would suddenly break out with stunning magic that would command the respect of the other students. I've always envisioned Harry absolutely radiating with power once he grew up so that the fight between Voldemort that we all knew was coming would be that much more spectacular. However, the most we've seen is Harry excelling a tad in Defense against the Dark Arts. I think in Book 6, he'll finaly break out and become the most powerful student at Hogwarts. I mean, he's gotta be the man pretty soon and now that he's maturing, I think it's about time. I just had to get that out, cause its kinda frustrating for one thing to read it and seeing Harry kinda wimp out sometimes, but also when I watch posts and resposes about how Harry "should die to be with his parents." What the hell is that crap? He should pwn Voldemort, take the girl, and live as the man for the rest of his life! That's so much better of a story. I read to see Harry become a powerful wizard and own Death Eater butt, not wimp out and die a tragic, but morally-uplifting death.

Anyone else? :D

I agree. He should be some kind of BIG hero.I mean, come on!He has a scar but all itdoes is hurts. In the 6th book I think it'll hurt so much he turns evil or something.I think he'll kill Draco because he'll get power.

Just highlight it then read it but why? Oh stupidity_rox_my_sox why would he kill draco when he can use him as a slave. anyway I think his scar should make him alot stronger and in the 7th book fight Voldermort and have 2 chapters of super wizzidry fighting and have harry become victorious. that would be cool.

Actually I think it's better that Harry isn't some strong wizard, because don't you think it'd be cliche that the main character has a huge hidden power and can beat anyone else without breaking a sweat? It's a lot more realistic that he's struggling.

If harry could pwn every1 he wud of done so. Its in his nature to "wimp out" a bit seeing as how he lost all relatives related to him ever. I'm exluding the Dursleys because they just suck -_- I think dudley gonna PO him reaaaaaaal bad about Sirius (its pronounced serious! Its in the pronounciation guide at Scholastic and they say Serious in the teaser) and harry gonna go out and whup him. thats gonna release a LOT of his hidden potential. and hermione is juss gonna frikkin faint and is gonna edge further away from him. book 6 is totally gonna be about revenge. I can bet money dumbledore dies somewhere soon in the series, reveals to harry hes related to him or summin (harrys grandparent maybe) and then harry juss kills. and kills. and kills. And then hermione gets hurt in the book and rons true feelings show and hermione realizes its ron she wants (i want a Harry + Hermione relationship too RCG but knowing how often rowling PO's me with her twists, thats not gonna happen -_-) then etc... happens and... THE VEIL OPENS!!! the spirits within, of lunas mom, sirius and every1 else who can see the thestrals (common ground for those who've seen death) will be reunited with their loved ones. think of a battle like the ones between the ghosts VS saurons army who are atk'ing Minas Tirith in LOTR. yea then it ends with harry and voldemorts death. because neither can live while the other exists. think of it sorta as a Neo and Agent Smith thing. neo has to die in order for smith to die =/

No, Harry cannot win on the grounds of power alone...

There has to be more.

To make the battle trancend from good vs evil.
To something different...

It would be more difficult for Rowling to develop a deep story if it was too easy for Harry to win in the end. I think it's more interesting to see him overcome the weaknesses he has rather than become some all-powerful magical student.

I can see your point though.

I read all these posts and I wonder what are you guys thinking? Harry is already such a great wizard. He may not be to what some people would like but after book 3 when he knocked out Snape and book 4 when he took on all of those challenges how could u people say such things about Harry being just a little over average? He has taken on Voldermort, one of the most powerful wizards ever, and even though he feels like he wants to die, he knows that he can't. If Voldermort and over a dozen over Death Eaters couldn't stop him from escaping his death, how can you say he is not a great wizard already? I know he will have to get better to go head to head with Voldy but he still has time, and he knows the truth know. He is going to fight for what he sees as right. And the power he needs is in his reach if he tries u know? No offence to anyone but am I reading the same Harry Potter books as everyone else?

when has he "taken on" Voldemort? If I remember correctly, he was saved once by Priori Incantatum and then again by Dumbledore. Had things not come together, he would have been dead. I personally am not impressed with the fact that Harry, despite getting no credit from Snape, really is kind of bad at potions. I'm not impressed that he really needs time to learn things like the other students. When signs show that Harry has power running through his veins (like when the broom instantly obeyed his command during his first flying lesson, or the fact that he can command his wand without holding it) I expect more. I guess I'm just dissappointed he isn't doing magic all the time, using his head like he should be. All of the students in the stories haven't really done a whole lot of new magic. I'm hoping for more, but especially from Harry.

All powerful people are boring. Harry potter's successful because people can relate to him, he's a normal person that can do abnormal things. Very few people try to live up to their full potentials, or even know what it is.

If i remember when Voldy and Harry were locked up in the Priori Incantatum thing he got the light to the oppisite side when Voldy is one of the strongest wizards there is.. sure he got out of it, but what is he supposed to do stay there forever?

Thank you! I agree completely. People relate to Harry. Besides, Harry may have a lot of powerful magic within him, but he still needs to learn to use it just like everybody else. He didn't even know he had any kind of power until he was 11 for crying out loud! It's the same in real life. Even those who excel at what they do had to struggle through some sort of learning process at some point in thier lives to get where they are. It doesn't matter who you are or how much you have until you learn to use it - and that's the hard part. I think once Harry's finished school, he'll be an amazing wizard, but he has to finish the learning process first. Besides, he's just like any other kid in that he doesn't want to spend all of his time studying (aside from Hermione, of course), he wants some fun in his life, too!
