Chapter 2: Rare Hunter Reorganization

Yugi sat in his desk the next morning. Tea wasn't here today, and had been called in sick today. Being a childhood friend of his who had blue eyes, brown hair, and about average height, he couldn't remember the last time she had been sick. And now Mohammed Kargbo and Kyle Bull, a couple of his more recent friends (see Saga of the Sacred Items*) were at home with the Flu, which was getting to be an epidemic at Domino High School right now, and Kateensha Ra, from Egypt, who, in ancient times, was a friend of the Pharaoh Yami and had survived the ages sleeping in a sarcophagus in a tomb with his Sacred Millennium Item, the Millennium Time Rod, which gave its master immortality (*), had gone home to Egypt because of some mysterious, "Time Being Right," that Kateensha hadn't bothered explaining. If it wasn't for his friends Joey Wheeler, Duke Devlin, and Tristan Taylor still being there, he would have been pretty lonely.
Joey was a blond headed boy who lived with his dad, who was a heavy alcoholic with a gambling addiction, divorced from his mom, of whom his little sister Serenity was currently living with. Joey was a bit of a street punk whose best pal for a long time had been Tristan. He and Tristan had been bullies to Yugi, until he stood up for them when they started getting picked on. Now they were the best of friends and had as big a passion for Duel Monsters as Yugi.
Tristan, a brown eyed and haired teenager with his front hair in kind of a point, for a long time was Joey’s only friends. Now he is a friend of Yugi’s with unwavering friendship. To Joey’s displeasure, Tristan is trying to be Serenity Wheeler’s boyfriend.
Duke Devilen is blue eyed, black hair boy who wears a dice for an earring. He likes Duel Monsters, but not as much as Yugi or Joey, and is the inventor of a game called Dungeon Dice Monsters and owns his own game shop, more like store. He is one of Yugi’s newer friends whom he met a little after the Duelist Kingdom Tournament. TO both Joey AND Tristan’s dismay, he is Tristan’s rival in Serenity’s love.
Well, we need to get a move on, and go to see Tea. She did indeed look rather ill. She was very pale, and even though she was unconscious, she was trembling violently and moaning a little bit. Then suddenly her eyes opened suddenly. But the mind who was looking out of them was not hers. A golden ring with a solid triangle with an Egyptian style eye on it with five pointers sticking out of it and held around her neck by a brown cord appeared around her neck.
She sat up walked to her window and opened it. “I’ve got to get out hear,” she said in her own voice, but Yami Bakura’s face appears next to hers, transparent and only the audience. This is to indicate on who is controlling her. Tea, or rather, Set looks into the mirror, sees Tea’s face staring back at him. He scowled. “Of all people, why did I have to be forced into possessing Tea? It’s humiliating!”
He then climbed out of the window and onto a drain pipe and slid down. He then started running. He eventually made it to Bakura’s house, and then, since Set had originally possessing Bakura, he knew exactly where Bakura’s room was, as well as where the hidden spare key was. He, or maybe I should just she, I’ll just alternate with both, so bare with me, walked to the front door, lifted up the welcome mat, and pulled out the spare key.
She then inserted the key into the keyhole and turned. He then entered the house. She went up to Bakura’s room, rummaged threw his closet, and then extracted Bakura’s duel disk, and the Rare Hunter Robe he had used when Set was controlling the Rare Hunter card thief gang while possessing Bakura. He then picked up Bakura’s deck from his bedside table, inserted it into the Duel Disk, strapped that onto his arm, threw on the cloak, pulled up the hood, and then ran out of the house.
Later on Yugi went up to Tea’s house to see how she was doing. He knocked on the door, and Mrs. Gardner, a woman who looked like Tea, only older and with green eyes, poked her head with a very worried expression on her face. “Hello Mrs. Gardner, I’m Yugi, one of Tea’s friends,” Yugi stated politely. “I know, she’s told me about you,” she responded. “Well, I dropped by to see how she is feeling, and maybe see her if she’s up to it.” “I’m sorry Yugi, but, I don’t know where she is. She disappeared!” She then began to sob horribly. Then to himself, Yugi said “Oh no, Tea!”

Later That Evening

In an abandoned warehouse, or supposedly abandoned warehouse anyway, three men in black robes, each one with an Egyptian style eye symbol on the hood, Rare Hunters, entered. They then went over to one of the dusty and cobwebby crates and easily slid the lid off. Inside was a clean, gunmetal colored device with a button on it. They pressed the button and a large door lifted up out of the floor and they entered. When they got down, they found the lounge area, where all of the other Rare Hunters were. All of them male. Then the secret door opened again and this time one who was skinny that it was obviously female, wearing the Millennium Ring, and the Millennium Rod. This one was also wearing a Duel Disk and Rare Hunter Robes with the hood covering her face. “Hey, who are you? You can’t be in here!” called out one of the Rare Hunters, called Zombs because of his Zombie deck. He was also currently in the position of the Rare Hunter’s leader.
“Who do you think YOU are, giving orders to your master?” “AHAHAHA! Did you hear that boys? This girl thinks that she is our leader! AHAHAHAHAHA!!” The other Rare Hunters followed suit, partly because Zombs had forced them to laugh whenever he laughs and not to laugh when he doesn’t but they also found this extremely amusing as well.
“What’s so funny?” The stranger said as she lowered her hood, revealing the face of Tea. “Did you all forget that I Set, was your second leader after your former, Marik, left you?” This caused them to all burst into even more laughter. This caused Set to get very angry so he, in Tea’s body, unleashed a wave of Dark Shadow Magic from the recently restolen Millennium Rod and Millennium Ring, which blasted them all back onto the walls, and Set’s voice, for the first time, can be heard by more than just the audience as he yelled, “ENOUGH! I WILL NOT BE RIDICULED BY COMMON THIEVES!”
“Whoa, it is Set,” One of the hunters yelped. “Hi yah boss!” another one said. Then Zombs stood up and said, “Even if you are really Set, I’m the leader now! And the rules say that if a Rare Hunter challenges the leader, they will duel. The winner becomes leader.”
“Fine then we will duel. But I will raise the stakes, if I win, you get sent to the Shadow Realm, if I don’t, then you can do whatever you want with me, and you will also get the Millennium Rod. “Excellent!” said Zombs gleefully, since he was a bit of a sicko and perv, and started thinking of all the sick and wrong things he would make this crazy girl do with him after using the Millennium Rod on her. They then proceeded through the next door into a hallway, and from there they went all the way down to the end and through the door at the end of the hallway, and into a large Duel Arena. Set took the side farthest from the door while Zombs took the one that was closest. They then launched the holographic projectors on their duel disks and put them into dueling mode, and drew their five card opening hands. It was time to Duel.

Life Points: Set: 8000 Zombs: 8000

“I’ll start first,” stated Zombs, “With Master Kyonshee, in attack mode! Then the holographic form of a man with a light blue ninja style robe with yellow pants, green skin, a big curved sword, and one of those Dao Shi Talismans that Taoist Spellcaster’s use to make the dead come alive as corpse puppets on his face (this will be a lot more familiar to you if you watch Shaman King on Fox box, read the Shaman King section in Shonen Jump or the Shonen Jump Shaman King Graphic novels).

Master Kyonshee: Attack: 1750, Defense: 1000, Type: Zombie, Attribute: Earth, Level: 4, Effect: None.

“I end my turn.” “Well that’s all very nice and all, but,” Set drew his/her card, “I summon La Jinn, the Mystical Genie of the Lamp, in attack mode.” Then a green genie with the gold manacles on his wrist while wearing one of those tiny little binnies without the propeller on his head appeared.

La Jinn, the Mystical Genie of the Lamp, Attack: 1800, Def: 1000, Type: Fiend, Attribute: Dark, Level: 4, Effect: None

“Now La Jinn, attack with Wished Destruction. Then La Jinn raised his arms, cupped them facing Kyonshee, and fired a blast of magic out of his palms, destroying the ninja master, allowing him to finally rest. “I end my turn.”
Then Zombs retaliated by setting one monster in Defense mode and one card face down. Then Set sacrificed La Jinn to summon Dark Ruler Ha Des, in attack mode.

Dark Ruler Ha Des, Attack: 2450, Defense: 1600, Type: Fiend, Attribute: Dark, Level: 6, Effect: As long as this card remains face-up on the field, negate the effects of Effect Monsters destroyed by Fiend-Type monsters on your side of the field in battle. This card cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard.

The Dark Ruler was a tall monster with a gold, light purple and blue robe that had a picture of a skull on the chest, green skin, and carrying in one hand, a cup that looked like it was filled with blood. “Now Dark Ruler, attack, with Lucifer Soul!” Then Dark Ruler fired from his mouth and eyes, a black and blood red blast of evil energy, which struck the face-down card and blew it up.
“You attacked my Pyramid Turtle, which now lets me Special Summon one Zombie Monster in my deck with 2000 or less defense points, with no tribute for level 5 or higher monsters! Ahahaha! And my monster is, Vampire Lord, in attack mode!

Vampire Lord: Attack: 2000, Defense: 1500, Type: Zombie, Attribute: Dark, Level: 5, Effect: Each time this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent declare 1 card type (Monster, Spell, or Trap). Your opponent selects 1 card of that type from his/her Deck and sends it to the Graveyard. Also, when this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by you opponent's card effect, it is Special Summoned to the field during your next Standby Phase.

Vampire Lord looked like a light green/blue hair with his cape wrapped around him with a decoration on the cape that looked like a giant claw was holding him. “I end my turn,” said Set, after I lay, one card face-down.
“I switch my Vampire Lord into Defense Mode,” said Zombs, “Then I play Confiscation. At the cost of 1000 Life Points, this normal Magic Card lets me look at your hand, and send one to the card Graveyard!”
Set walked over to Zombs and showed him his/her hand of Giant Germ, Pot of Greed, Archfiend Soldier, and a Slate Warrior. “I choose to get rid of your Slate Warrior.” Set took his Slate Warrior and put it into his Graveyard. She then walked over to his/her spot and Zombs ended his turn. Then Set drew his card for the draw phase, then said, “I lay one card face down and play Card Destruction, which requires us to each send our entire hand to the Graveyard, and draw a new hand with the same number of cards as our last one. They each did so. “Now I’ll activate my Pot of Greed Magic Card, which allows me to draw two cards, and I will attack with Ha Des!”
Ha Des shoots another beam of evil energy out of his mouth and eyes, this time at Vampire Lord. “You’ve activated my Trap Card: Mirror Force! Now all attack mode monsters that you have on the field are destroyed!” A wall of what looks like magic glass appears in front of V Lord, ricocheting the attack right back at Ha Des, destroying it. “I end my turn.”
“I draw, and then attack directly with Vampire Lord! Bat Blast!” Then V Lord opened his cape, shooting a bunch of exploding killer bats. They all hit Set directly, eating away 2000 Life Points. “I end my turn.”

Life Points
Set: 6000 Zombs: 6950

Set drew his/her card and smiled. “The time for your destruction is near! I remove three fiend monsters in my Graveyard from play, Slate Warrior, Ha Des, and La Jinn, to summon, Dark Necrofear!” Then a hideous dark blue bald woman with evil looking eyes and carrying a hideously grotesque baby-like thing in one arm appeared. “Then I’ll play Dimension Fusion, which, at the cost of 1000 Life Points, allows both players to Special Summon all removed from play Monsters that we have in either attack or defense mode, and since you none, I’ll bring out mine: La Jinn, Slate Warrior, and Dark Ruler Ha Des, all in attack mode! Then I’ll play Monster Reborn to resurrect my Archfiend Soldier! And now, to destroy you! Go Dark Necrofear, Blazing Eyes from Heck!” Dark Necrofear fired blood red beams from its eyes, which hit Vampire Lord, destroying him.
“That takes away 200 Life Points, but now I’m about to rack up 8000 Life Points worth of direct damage! Ha Des, attack with Lucifer Soul! Followed by a Wished Destruction by La Jinn, then a Soldier cut by my Archfiend Soldier, and ending with a Fiendish Right Straight by my Slate Warrior!”
Then Ha Des fired one last blast from its eyes and mouth, hitting Zombs directly, eating away 2400 Life Points, and then La Jinn cupped his outstretched arms once again, aimed at Zombs, and fired, hitting him and dealing 1800 more Points in Damage. When the holographic dust was starting to settle, Archfiend Soldier flew in and slashed Zombs with his sword, and right on the Soldier’s heels came Slate Warrior, who flew in and smacked Zombs right in the face with his fist, wiping out his Life Points.

Life Points
Set: 5000 Zombs: 0000

Set raised the Millennium Rod and released a beam of black energy which it Zombs and a shadowy cloud immediately enveloped him. After about ten seconds, the cloud dispersed, and all that was left of Zombs was his clothes, Duel Disk, Deck, and Rare Hunter Robes! All of the remaining Rare Hunters bent down on one knee towards Set, who smiled evilly in satisfaction. The Rare Hunters were his again.
