Ygo is fixing to die, so prepare for an influx of us to move over to WoW TCG since UDE owns it and operates the tournament structure, which they know how to do, unlike Konami. you'll probably be getting lots of questions like "what's the best/easiest competitive deck in wow to build" and things of that nature.

the influx to the wow tcg is at hand.... konami has stopped shipping ude's orders and the crimson crisis sneak preview along with cp08 are all cancelled until further notice.... this will be some year for wow since yugioh is now starting to fall short, that is until 2010 when konami takes full power over the tcg again.

well then let me be the first to ask a couple questions
After seeing the official sites tutorial I know the decks are based around the hero card and it's stats. is there one kind of traits (Faction, professions, class) that are better than others?
If I wanted to build a Warlock (just kind of strikes me at the moment) deck what sets should I look at?
finally the infamous Loot Cards: are these cards so sought after because they are powerful cards for decks or because they allow players of the online game to get rare items? If their main value lies in unlocking things for the online game then they are of little use to me

If you are interested in playing Warlock, go to the wow main site, and look under Event Coverage at the top 8 decklists from DMF New Jersey. There is a really good Warlock deck there. Loot Cards are sought after because some of them sell for hundreds or a thousand dollars. They are used for special items on the online game.

My questions are this...
What is the format right now for the competitive scene, and what sets are the best ones to buy for it?

The format is constructed realm qualifiers. I would suggest looking at wowtcgscrub.com, and the gauntlet decklists for current ideas. It will probably be cheaper to buy singles for Kil'zen or Desecrator than buying boxes of cards.

So is there a limited or semi limited/banned list, or is there a set rotation where some sets are no longer legal..?

Currently neither. Some formats only use the last 3 sets but those only last for about 2 months. There will not be a banned list in WoW. The game is incredibly balanced.

Im one of the influx. I have given up yu gi oh. Im tired of they game having to be a spend 800 or more to get a good deck. The format is completly unbalanced. WOW seems to be very balanced and easy to play. Im looking forward to the next realm qualifier in my area. Until then i will try to hit a tourney or two.

I'm with you, yugioh has gotten way too expensive to maintain.

Ill join in these questions too.
How long would it take to make a "good" deck (not THE BEST necessarily, but something to make me reckoned with)
And about how much would it cost me.
