i'm running a mbc and i need help picking either terror or dark banishing in a type 2 format i know that dark banishing can kill artifacts but is the higher mana cost realy worth it?

I would go with 3-4 Dark Banishing and 1-2 Terror maindeck. Then put more Terror s in the board. Affinity decks are slow by nature until they get an Enforcer on the board. Dark Banishing can get rid of one of those.
However, I wouldn't forget about Terror. The ability to kill a Goblin Warchief or Piledriver for two mana will save you.

So to up, I'd mainly go with the Dark Banishings and keep Terror as a backup (if they're not running affinity.)

It really depends on your opponent.
If you're playing against Affinity, Terror's going to be a dead draw.
If you're playing against Goblins, Terror's going to be quicker and more mana efficient.

All in all, in today's environment, I would go with the banishing quicker than i would go for terror. For now, I would replace your terrors with smothers. The current environment is just too artifact-heavy for Terror to be as effective as it used to be.

Just run Dark Banishing in MBC because terror will in the long run hurt since a lot of decks run artifacts creatures especially with darksteel and dont even board terror because you have better stuff to board.

If you need a board against goblins run Trinisphere.

Trinisphere -
Artifact (R)
As long as Trinisphere is untapped, each spell that would cost less than three mana to play costs three mana to play. (Additional mana in the cost may be paid with any color of mana or colorless mana. For example, a spell that would cost to play costs to play instead.)

My gut says that you should go with the Dark Banishings. I would.

Who ever said no terrors WTF? Terrors are one of the sickest cards to ever be made! Not including it is suicide! And you people complaining about Artifacts, or affinity, they usually use Brood Stars which terror can take care of, however, 4 dark banishings is a good idea, but use them wisely, odds are you only get 2 a game. Terrors took huge hit but still should be in deck, in my b/r I have 2 main deck 2 boarded, and 3 banishings in main 1 boarded. Vs. Non-Artifact Decks, terrors are life savers.

Good Luck!

Now dont get wrong terrors are very good cards but get carried away. In MBC you would rather play DB. I say no terrors in the board because there is no reason to board them. In fast decks with no artifacts i would even perfer Infest or Smother as it is much better.

The Terrors that I don't use I would sideboard.
Yes, Terror can kill broodstar, but if you have more Terrors mainboarded than banishings....there's not a whole lot you can do about the enforcers, frogs, and lodestones that are caving your skull in.

Since you stated this is for a Type 2 deck, let's compare the cards against the three most common T2 decks you'll come across.

U/W Control:
Against a typical U/W build both Terror and Dark Banishing are pretty much useless. The quickest creature this deck can play is a third turn face-down Exalted Angel. That means the quickest you’ll need a creature kill is your third turn, rendering the slight speed Terror has over Dark Banishing mute.

Goblins (mono-red and bidding):
In this match-up you’ll need to kill off as many goblins as possible, and as quickly as possible. Terror would be the card of choice for this match.

Affinity:
Broodstar is the finisher for this deck, not the primary threat. Those would be Myr Enforcer and Frogmite. Taking out these early game threats is absolutely vital. Terror will most likely be a dead draw in most of the games. Dark Banishing is absolutely needed for this match.

Dark banishings if your playing against any mirrodin deck...(MBC and Affinity are huge and terror wouldnt work against either) but type 1.....terror hands down

I notice there are many MBC decks nowadays, and I would almost tell you to put in another color. All the Terror, Dark Banishing etc.. says ''Destroy blablabla NONblack creature'', that's a downer.
And I would personally go for Dark Banishing.

Maindeck Banishing. but also maindeck SMOTHER. Its (arguably) a better card than terror, it kills all morphs, black, and weenies (like gobbo). Works on Promise Demons too.

I didnt read anyone else post but to me the answer is terror because it can go under the scepter.

Sceptre is overrated. If they dont destroy it (thus giving you card-disadvantage), they will work around it. Running sceptre just for terror is kinda dumb.
