Because Synchro Monsters are so weak and useless, they need gimmicks to cheaply Special Summon them from the Extra Deck in order to even see play, right?

Well, like the Destiny Heroes, sure Synchros are slow and mostly useless "gimmick" cards at the moment, but I think that if we wait a while longer, they could and will improve. Of course that's just my opinion on things and not reality...
Here is a few of my Synchros
Dreadnought Leviathan
Water/Sea Serpent/Synchro/Effect
Level 8

1 Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner WATER monsters
Effect: When this monster is successfully Synchro Summoned, for each non-Tuner WATER monster used in the summoning of this Synchro monster, you can destroy up to one Spell or Trap card on the field. If this monster is destroyed by a Trap Card, you can return 1 Spell or Trap card in your Graveyard to the bottom of your deck.
Thunder Striker Maiku
Light/Thunder/Synchro/Effect
Level 5
atk 2600/def 2000
1 Tuner monster + 1 or more non-Tuner LIGHT monsters
Effect: Once per turn, by reducing the attack and defense of this card by 400 points, you can destroy 1 face-up monster card on your opponent's side of the field. If you use this card's effect, you cannot declare an attack with this card during this Battle Phase.

Rough Diamond

When using this card to Synchro Summon a monster, you may use monsters whose total Level Stars are greater than the Level Stars of the Synchro Monster. If this effect is used, you may only use 1 non-Tuner monster in the Synchro Summon, and you must pay 400 Life Points for every extra Level Star.

They seem pretty good. For Dreadnought, with the usual 6 + 2 thing for summoning LV 8's, it's more like an MST; but it can get up to a near-Heavy if you wanted.
Maiku (Mike?) seems balanced, except for not being able to attack next Battle Phase. Most likely you'll kill w/it, then swing for 2200. Maybe switch the "can't attack-ness" to the turn you use the effect?
I like Synchro Proxy. Good cards Nuuuuf.

Effect: If this is the only monster on your side of the field, destroy this card. If this is the only DARK monster on your side of the field, in order for you to declare an attack with this card, you must tribute 1 non-DARK monster you control. If this monster is destroyed as a result of battle, by removing 1 DARK monster in your graveyard from play, you can Special Summon this card to your side of the field in face-up attack position.

When this card is Synchro Summoned, add 3 Fog Counters to all monsters on the field. This card cannot be destroyed as a result of battle (battle damage is applied normally). When this card battles a monster with 6 or more Fog Counters on it, double this card's ATK during the damage step only. When this card would be destroyed by a card effect, remove 2 Fog Counters from any card on the field to negate this card's destruction.
