I don't know if this has been posted yet or not, but a pokemon Emerald made by Nintendo has been confirmed, with a release date just after America gets FR/LG. Info from Kyogre Lair (http://www.kyogre.net) .

You said it, the last thing we need is another 114 or so Pokemon.

i suppose, all the new pokemon would be a pain, but who knows it could be interesting as well. Maybe they will tie it in with a new Generation of Pokemon anime

Well if they stick in some useful pokemon with type combinations we haven't seen before it'd be good. Maybe a water/bug that doesn't evolve into something else. Or a pure-type flying pokemon.

i wonder if they have ever heard the saying
"quit while your ahead"
i mean 386 is far more than enough, maybe if they did some neat type combos like Ghost/Dragon or Ice/Fighting or Dragon/Ice, and introduced a new aspect of the game(i.e. a new view point of a story or a whole new goal)then and only then would it be worth getting in my eyes

Looks like the Yellow/Crystal of Ruby and Sapphire... though maybe they'll expand more on the Groudon/Kyogre conflict, from the looks of the screenshots and all.

From ign.com:
July 20, 2004 - Chalk up another special edition Game Boy Advance SP system in Japan. Nintendo will release the GBA SP Rayquaza Edition in Japan to coincide with the release of Pokemon Emerald this Fall. The system will be green in color and feature Rayquaza, the legendary Pokemon that's highlighted in Pokemon Emerald, on the top and the inside of the GBA SP unit.

The Rayquaza Edition Game Boy Advance SP will be sold exclusively through the Pokemon Center Online for 12,500 yen. Reservations will begin on August 16th, and will be taken all the way up to September 10th.
Pokemon Emerald is the latest addition to the Pokemon RPG series on the Game Boy Advance. It will be based upon the Ruby/Sapphire adventure and feature wireless connectivity, as well as new exclusive gameplay elements. The game ships in Japan on September 16th.

I'll get it, because the games are still fun even if its like Ruby.

As for a 4th Gen, when I got Ruby I hated the new ones (which is why I only recently got it, because I didn't want to before). Now I'm upset that I missed out on it earlier. Even if the new Pokemon (I've only seen one- a baby Snorlax) suck, you'll still grow to like them.

I'll probably get it just to continue my tradition of getting the third version games, and cause i like the animations. I really hope that the new battles and upgraded storyline actually keep you interested in the game, unlike yellow(at least for me)

IMO, Yellow sucked. At least as far as the story and starter pokemon went. The other changes did make things somewhat better though.

Yellow had Jessie and James in though. That made it worth it. And it was in "colour" aswell. Though only to the extent that each town was its namesake colour, and the Pokemon were a kind of blurry coloured-in.

i liked yellow cuz i could get all three starters w/o trading or cheating but i have always like Mageton over pikachu.
i think the animations r a waste of time and space on the game itseft... :o
but i will still get emerald probably, i am a slave to the pokemon... :(

Yeah, Yellow seemed to cutesy to appeal to me. I prefer to get the versions that look nice IMO. (Blue, Silver, Sapphire) By those screenshots of Kyogre and Groudon fighting, I'm guessing they are for the opening sequence. It was only a matter of time before this was confirmed, it's tradition I guess.

well, the waay to make it better woulda been to add the Johto region in as well and make the pokemon league alot more realistic then it usually is.
The good thing is at least u'll be able to get both Kyogre/Groudon if i'm not mistaken

I thought yellow was really good, I still play it sometimes after all this. I am so excited for Emerald after I looked at it on Serebii.net. It looked like it was worth the money to keep me entertained. There is a lot of legendarys: both Grundon(sorry) and Kyroge are in there plus all the legendary birds, mewtwo and the unknowns. I think it looks super. I dunno if there will be any new pokes but I hope so! I am so excited I can't wait to get it in Feb.

As in you are a gym leader and people come to you and you beat the crap out of them...or the same gamestyle, but you become a gym leader in the end. :D

Some new type combos would be nice. And better names too. I think the RS ones are to Japanesey

I liked Yellow and Crystal, they were fun. I played as a girl in Crystal...playing a boy for years gets quite boring, even though I'm male :p

Emerald will obviously be the Crystal/Yellow of RS...it is a gemstone...
