Ice Pokémon appear to have received the short end of the stick in R/S. There are only 4 ice-types out of 130+ new Pokémon. And none of them appear until late in the game. =\

Anyone else bothered by this?

its the same with dragons, which makes it hard to beat the e4 dragon trainers

Darn straight, remember in R/B/Y? Dragon Rage was the only Dragon attack (We had no idea whether Dragon was special or physical) Lick was the only normal damage ghost attack not to mention only 3 dragons, 3 ghosts and like 20 something water and normal Pokemon, they 'compensated' for this in G/S/C, better dragon and ghost attacks but only 1 more Ghost and Dragon Poke. Similar things have happened in R/S with Ice and Dragon again, I guess they were on a roll with creating more water types and throwing in a few weak ones, they never thought about SOME balance. Let's see, Snorunt, Glaille (Snorunt requiring a tide condition to find, Glaile evolves at Lv40) Regice (The Legendary my friend just can't seem to catch.) and Spheal, Sealeo and Walrien (Spheal found in that cave, which is near the end of the story.) You're right,

More like they're playing Keep-Away with the stick for Ice and Dragon. :(

on top of that there aren't any good Powerful ice attacks other then ice beam. they should make one that is more powerful then blizzard.
The only pokemon i had with an ice attack was kyogre- i didn't get any ice pokemon till after E4

I hate it how Nintendo does this, cause i love Ice Pokémon. But there is only 6 Ice Pokés in Ru/Sa, and only 3 are semi-usable. And in Fr/Lg there will be 16 Ice Pokés and only 11 are semi-usable.

So it's better to carry Thunderbolt for Ice-carrying waters than Rock Slide for Ice types. There are about as many usable Ice types as there are Poison and Grass types.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who feels a little cheated. Not to bash on the larger types like Water (because that's one of my favorites as well), but I think there should be relatively the same amount in each type. It would make teams a lot more challenging and interesting, IMO.

Hmmm. I think this was decided based upon what you see most often IRL. Yeah that doesn't make much sense when you consider that this isn't IRL but it does appear to be why.
