This is a theory I found on another board, and modified it with some of my own ideas. Basically, the theory states that all the books are connected in somewhat of a pyramid shape. Books 1 and 7 are the base of the pyramid, then 2 and 6 on the next step up, then 3 and 5, then, the climax of the series at this point, book 4 at the top. So, it looks something like this:
...........4.............
......3..........5.......
...2................6....
1......................7.
So, thinking under this idea, the only connestions we have to go from right now are those from books 3 and 5. Such as:
-In book 3, we are introduced to Hippogryffs, which represent love in mythology, and they are ridden to save Sirius. In book 5, we are introduced to Thestrels, which represent death, and they are ridden to try to fail to save Sirius.
-In book 3, we meet Sirius and he's successfully saved. In book 5, we lose Sirius and they fail to save him.
-In book 3, we hear one of Trelawney's prophecies first-hand. In book 5, we hear about her other prophecy, coming to us second-hand.
etc. The point is, the exact opposite of many events in Prisoner of Azkaban happened in Order of the Phoenix. If this continues (and I realize that's a huge "if"), under the pyramid theory, one could make assumptions like the following:
- Ginny was saved in book 2, so she'll die in book 6.
- In book 1, Harry lost something dear to him (his family), and Voldemort lost his powers. So, maybe in book 7, Voldemort loses something dear to him, and Harry loses his powers. And what is most precious to Voldemort? Judging form his "nothing is worse than death" lines in OotP, Voldemort treasures his own life above all. Maybe Harry has to give up his powers to kill Voldemort once and for all?
However, I realize the chances of any of this having any relevance to future books are very slim. We really need book 6 to tell if there's any truth to this theory at all; I just thought it was kind of cool. The original theory can be found here (http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=245&topic=15009222), if anyone's interested.
