This is the team thread for us, Team Abyss. We are a team based out of Northern California, Butte County to be more specific. This thread is for our members to post on, or anyone who wants to comment on our team. We are currently a medium-sized team but are looking for more members within the area. Now before the posting starts, if anyone flames us you will be dealt with appropriately (which means Nick will get to make posts with a bunch of asterisks).

The projected release date was May 23rd. If it's released before the Jonin at Fanime, it would mean we would have to start testing with and against cards from The Chosen and new deck types the set creates (which I can already think of 1 new deck type and 2 that will get better) and it's inconvienient because so far we've been testing pre-Chosen decks. Having only a month to test against a new set, especially when it's hard for the 4 of us that are going to find a good time to playtest, is going to be annoying.

Hopefully the rumor won't be true or the set won't be legal for the Jonin even if it's released early.

We've seen the new cards but haven't tested with them because it'd be pointless with the original date for The Chosen being May 23rd. If the set does come out it means we have to do more testing with new cards and try and get those new cards, which is a lot harder for all of us going to Fanime.

Well you had a week. What was legal at the UFS tournament didn't matter to me, I just went to play.

I'm not being stubborn. I'm not the only one complaining about it. A lot of the players going to Jonin tournaments in May are unhappy with that decision. It just a bad idea to release a set that close to a convention Jonin tournament, one that will most likely be one of the biggest Jonins so far.

I don't like it even more because Saturday is mainly the only day we get together to play. I can only play in tournaments once a month and I rarely play outside of that because of the retarded bus schedules don't allow for me to stay in Chico later than the tournament to play a couple games. It's also hard for the 4 of us that are going to find any time to get together to get any playtesting done because I live in Magalia, Yas has school 5 days a week, Randy has a new job and Cristina goes to college. It's difficult to find a time when we are all available to be able to playtest.

I never got the concept of playing against yourself using two decks.

You control both decks and use them at the same time. Of course, you have to get used to not playing with a biased style (that is, cheating and looking at the opponents hand and actually playing as though you were facing an opponent).

Think of it as Freecell (because I can spell Solitaire).

I used to do the same thing with Magic and UFS. You get used to it after a while.

I do it for every game. It really does become second nature; you're mind becomes its own opponent.

It's really good to do in Chess, too, because it gives you insight into the weaknesses of your moves (Since you know you'll be doing them) and how to counter the counters.

You only permanently lose IQ points if you attempt to reply after deciphering. Otherwise it's just temporary and will come back after a rest.

I found a guy in Paradise with an SNES along with Final Fantasy 2, 3 and Earthbound. Unfortunately, he knows what thier worth. No way I have that kinda cash before Fanime though.

Killer Instinct was such an amazing game. KI Gold for N64 was the perfect fighting game (in terms of an actual fighting game; I do and don't count Smash Bros.).

KI Gold wasn't very good. It was okay in the Arcade, but I think it lacked a few things compared to the original KI.

Such as Cinder.

Well obv it lacked Cinder. But they definitely upped the ante with it; the graphics were stunning, the system was better (on Combo had to charge either attacks. I loved that; I hated charging.) and the characters were kickass (Maya was brutal and Jago's new design was badass).

Yeah, whenever you turn off the PSP, it goes into sleep mode. You can do it at any point in a game and you won't lose your progress.

I suppose, in theory, it was probably designed that way for airline travel; that's the first reason my mind went to, and it's a great idea. =]

Reprints in The Chosen that don't have a new US number (Like the reprinted Haku does) are legal upon release of The Chosen. Also, cards with updated text (aka, erratas like VT and Seal) take effect immediately after The Chosen comes out.

Basically, we don't have to deal with FPS at Fanime.

So as it turns out that Bandai, in thier infinite wisdom, decided it would be a good idea to not make the "revised" card texts legal until the 30th of May. Basically, we DO have to deal with Seal at Fanime.

Oh and they made the change on Monday (yes, this Monday, the ******* 12th of May) and buried the real legality date in a sticky in the errata forum that hasn't had a new post since December. Thanks for making sure to point that out to us clearly Bandai.

Tournament update.

Collector's Ink is really adamant about having them at their store. They said they want to know what kind of merchandise we'd want them to carry, what booster sets and whatnot. I told em a new set was coming out in the next couple days and I'd check with you guys.
If Jeff and TJ need rides I don't mind swinging by the transit center and everyone else should be able to make it.

In case you guys don't know the place is on Highway 32, on your way out of Chico towards Hamilton City. On the left you can't miss it. Just ask if you need directions. The first tournament is scheduled for June 8th.

Was looking at some rulings for the Toad platoon someone posted earlier. Looks like the turn 2 gamabunta platoon was too good to actually work. Bummer.

I still think that moderator is mis-reading the line he bolded for that ruling. It makes no sense that it would work that way. If it really worked like that then Platooning over a Platoon or playing a Platoon wouldn't work. His reasoning was that the Platoon was sent to the Chakra before the other comes into play and if that's true the other one shouldn't even be able to come into play. It's a pretty stupid ruling.

My argument is that it's BS because you had to get rid of the platoon in order to play the new one. It's counter to what makes platooning possible in the first place.

The same quoted ruling also says that it's fine to Platoon a Platoon, as long as the second character on each Platoon isn't the same.

That mod shouldn't be a mod. Bad misreading all together. I'm not sure if anyone else noticed, but the OP said it was turn 3; the mod said turn 2. Bad misreading, especially for a mod.
