Keep your eyes peeled on the news page. Pojo just asked me to write a little blurb on the news I discovered today (if it even is news... we'll see... I have been too busy with personal and work issues to really do much with Pokemon, other than read the new VIZ manga, which is a really cute book... I recall seeing the manga in Corocoro a while back, but, I don't read Japanese--other than I can make out enough characters to find Pocket Monsters on the used book shelves! ;). L. Okay, I'm back now that Pojo has unveiled the info. So... Is this game going to survive-? What are your thoughts? The figures are really nice quality as far as sculpt and paint job... Tho' I have seen a lot broken off their bases... Ah, well...

I think the game can survive, but it is gonna need some support from PUSA. It feels as if they have already abandoned it before it really had a chance. It is a good good game that young ones can play as well as older people. The models are very detailed and look amazing. They would need to fix the breaking issues if they continued, and maybe that is what is holding them back. I really dont know why they havent done more marketing and why groundbreakers never got off yet, and I feel a company should stick to a release date or at least offer a suitable replacement date and a reason.
Additional Comment:
Also someone must of messed up royaly as now at the PUSA site, they have some of the groundbreakers in a glass case and there are some ones not listed in the starters. Like Flareon. Really makes you wonder what happened. Good news is at least there is news and finally another release date of Fall 2008.

I saw on the go-pokemon official PUSA website that the Flareon and other figures in the glass case, shown at GAMA, are from a *third* expansion. Check it out. So, are they planning that for Xmas 2009? LOL... The article is in the front page news on the site, click on the GAMA report tab... The glass case is pictured in the report. I didn't mention it in my toy news yesterday because I figure that'd be redundant. :) (I know that most fans check the major sites, too; I prefer to report my bird's eye view of the toy shelves at the local retailers rather than try to reword stuff I see on the web! ;) If anyone attends a con this summer, please do post comments! I dunno if I'm going to Origins, it's pricey for someone like me who only spends an hour or so in the dealer room!

all i know is that when the game first came out my gf and i bought all we could. and then i heard about groundbreakers so i was excited but i never saw anything besides starter packs. i've never seen a groundbreakers booster in stores. now walmart pulled them off the shelves and i never see anything from the trading figure game anymore. plus like you guys said, they break too easy. half the time they're broken before you even get them out of the package. it was a great idea but i was 99 percent sure the game was dead. i just stumbled upon this forum.

The TRU that is closing near me restocked their TFG shelves right before they announced the closing sale this past week. Odd. They had Groundbreakers (starters only). It's amazing how much nicer the Tomy set seems. But, as I've stated before, I don't think they could release the figures like that in the U.S. because they might've been challenged on the idea by Heroclix because they Tomy/Kaiyodo figures' bases click to rotate the stats. But, the bases are sturdier plastic. I don't know of many people claiming to have these figures, so, I dunno if they last/hold up better. Mine seem sturdier, but, I don't manhandle mine (nor have I "played" since I don't know anyone locally who has them... altho' the Anime Palace sold 'em... so someone must have a few! ;). I'll try to shoot some pix when I have time; remember I'm working with a real slow PC and my pix take like 10 min. to load. I don't get paid to write the toy news; so, my time is taken up by my real job and my home responsibilities. If PUSA has any of these figures already produced, I hope they at least release them, even if the game is DOA... I'd sure love to hear from others who have Tomy figures and whether they've played. No matter the breakage, the sculpts are just so lovely on the Kaiyodo produced Pokemon!

Groundbreakers was slated for a March 2009 release... And nothing.
I'm guessing the other battle figure game replaced it. You know, the one where you connect them to each other.
