The Official Jigglypuff Thread

Jigglypuff, or Purin, is a staple of the series. However her unlock has changed this game.

She's also the slowest and lightest character in the whole game. She makes Game&Watch looks like a heavyweight. She's not much to look at, but part of why we love her.

(Pokémon Red/Blue, Pokémon Diamond/Pearl)
A Balloon Pokémon. It invites opponents in close with its big, round eyes, then puts them to sleep with a calming song. The secret to the song's unfailing efficacy is Jigglypuff's ability to sing on the wavelength that will make its opponent the sleepiest. It also uses Attract to infatuate opponents who touch it. It uses a Moon Stone to evolve into Wigglytuff.

Jigglypuff's Final Smash. It wills its body to get bigger and bigger and bigger. It can't move, and it can't attack--all it can do is get bigger while everyone else looks on. However, it's invulnerable, and it overpowers all attacks to gradually push its opponents off the screen. It's a very simple technique, but how it's used determines its effectiveness.

she is a balloon pokemon, so pretty much she inflated.

i thought it would be a sonic sleep.

you can use it like edge-hogging.

if jigglypuff is using a FS and gets hit by an unavoidable piece of stage while growing, she gets stuck in the same size as the last frame. I.e she uses the FS on bridge of elding right before the bridge gets fixed.

her self-sleep move, how does that work? where she falls asleep herself. as far as i know it is a bad move.

Didn't I answer this when you asked it in Brawl Thread 30? Her Rest is useless unless it is done within the frames of another character, in which case it causes an explosion that sends them flying.

It's actually a really good move if you can get it on your opponent. Just wait until they start charging a smash attack and get behind them as they're doing the attack and use it... I think they should have given her a better FS though..

Rest however got a huge nerf to it.

Knockback got dropped severely, added Flowerhead doesn't help much.

She got severely nerfed. Her greatest features were nerfed...yeah.

Just like how Pichu got nerfed and "evolved" in Brawl, I'd like to see Jiggly nerfed for SSB4 and replaced with the stronger Wigglytuff.

It would be heavier, have a smaller recovery, but would also be stronger.

Surprisingly for fun matches though, I would always main Jig's in melee because of the lack of respect she recieved. It was always funny watching a player's jaw drop and head slouch in shame after I'd win a match with her.

I was going to do the same in Brawl but I've really gotten bored looking at Pudding. This time around I'd rather face it and see if there is anyone who can truly master her greatness over Wifi.

My guess, unless you've unlocked Toon Link already to disprove it, is that she, Toon Link, and Wolf require SSE beaten for unlocking.

Arg, then who else is required for the next set of Events (20+)? I have Lucario and all of the veteran hidden characters except Mr. Game & Watch and Jigglypuff. I want my Spear Pillar!

I didn't know snipers used rollout? :p

But yes, rollout is stil deadly and was able to KO my Pika at 30%*




*Note that I was standing near the very edge of Pokemon Stadium 2.

get basically on top of them, use the rest button, if it worked then they blow up.

jigglypuff is a messed up character in:
stock match
multiple opponents
big stage.

just avoid everyone until they all die, jiggly can be hard to catch(like a balloon)

Kirby seems to be a good counter to the jigg, at least wolfy's jigg...:D
