Out of all of them out - what is YOUR favorite Zelda game?
And please, give a reason too just to keep this thread going.

zelda ocarina of time because it had the best story line and it was challenging

Zelda: A Link to the Past is my favorite, simply for the fact it probably was the first game you could actually reasonably beat without going insane over the difficulty factor.

Majora's Mask is my favorite Zelda game because of how different it was from the previous titles such as the three day recipricle, no Zelda saving, mask collecting, etc. I really enjoyed the lay out for most of the temples too especially the upside down one, it took me a couple days to figure it out lol.
I truely wish Majora's Mask comes out for the VC because I feel like collecting some masks again lol.
Wind Waker is mine. Primarily the amazing style, but it was also a great game on it's own.
It was pretty smooth and straightforward.. at least until that damned triforce quest.
Sailing isn't really that bad, anyways..
Overall, the game had it all - style, sound, gameplay, awesome secrets..
In short, it's awesomeness.
No other Zelda game comes even close as far as I'm concerned.

Zelda II is my favorite. Why, you may ask? Because it is the only game that is actually a direct sequel to the original. We have all this bullcrap prequel-to-the-sequel-of-the-prequel-of-the-original stuff going on with all the other games. Where the heck is ZELDA III!?!?!?
Get the timeline straight, Nintendo. :<

Angry Video Game Nerd, is that you?
But anyways, I don't really mind. Zelda's high point was never the plot to begin with.

like link to the past. style, the size(double the game basically), puzzles, difficulty was good enough.
ocarina of time basically took the story from link to the past, they were even planning on putting his father in that game. the water temple was okay though. twilight princess is my second favorite.

Ocarina of Time. It was the game that really got me into gaming, and it's still amazing to me, minus the graphics.
It would be Wind Waker, but the sailing got really old really fast for me.

Since someone caught on so quickly, i'll say that my real favorite Zelda game is Ocarina of Time. Not trying to fit in with the norm, but I can't help it. It's just the best game of the series. :x
EDIT: Great sig, chaosmage. That's pretty funny :P

Mine would be Majora's Mask, since I've never played any of the games besides Twilight Princess and now Phantom Hourglass a little so far.
I really liked the design of the game, it was so different, the graphics were good for the N64, the storyline was top notch, the bosses were great, the dungeons were challengeing but not too overly challenging for the most part.
And the puzzles had a nice range of difficulty as I recall.
The controls were pretty sweet too.
All in all a very underrated Zelda game, but a great one none the less.
I agree with hacksaw, where's the VC love Nintendo?

Mine is Twilight Princess because it just looks amazing, and has a great story. I would have picked Phantom Hourglass, but it gets annoying having to go back through the same temples again and again.

I have to say Ocarana Of Time. It was just such an amazing game. I think it was my first real adventure game, and is one of my most memorable experience. The soundtrack was really good. It portrayed every feeling perfectly. The calm and simple feeling when you wake up and leave your house in kokri forest. Capture the suspense when something big happens, or Ganon shows up. A melodic and calm feel when the shiek shows up.
The dungeon teleportation tunes were some of the most memorable pieces of music in vg music history(well atleast for me). Nocturne of Shadow really gave me the creepiest feeling inside as i prepared for the shadow temple. To my dismay, it was the scariest place ever when i was younger, and even at 20, it still make me jump sometimes. Another melodic tune that i liked was Serenade of Water. It was so peaceful and best represented the water temple and lake hylia as well. The Graphics at that time was really good, and was better than lego final fantasy 7.
The story was great to me. The story kept elevating from simple and cheery, to dark and depressing. I was sad when i beaten a dungeon because of who goes where, and it felt like things may had become more depressing. At the final scenes felt like the end of jedi strikes back. Everybody's celebrating at the defeat of the villain, and everything seems to go back to normal. This game was definitely one of a kind, and is still one of the best games i played.

The Ocarina of Time Master Quest. OOT was by far the best Zelda game made by Nintendo, and making a Master Quest to it was a great idea. I'm working my way through it now, and it's simply the best.

I think I have to say Wind Waker. The artwork had me sold after the first trailer. It had some of the best items ever. The Deku leaf is my second all time favorite (behind TP's Spinner), and taking down bad guys with the Skull Hammer was epic. Also, the vastness of the Great Sea and all it's extra dungeons and mini games were great fun.
The Nintendo Gallery rocked as well. It was like Pokemon combined with the trophy element of SSBM.
Not to mention it has the best final fight of any of them, and the best character model for Ganondorf.

is link's dad there or was it still not included, as well as the alternate costumes, the whale opening up the fence, and other elements.

I don't think the costumes change. His dad definitely isn't in it. The dungeons are just more difficult and make you really think about what you gotta do. What used to take you 20 minutes to complete a dungeon will take you 40 minutes now just cuz you gotta think more. You go through the dungeons in a different route than just OOT, it's cool.
But I do have to agree that the WW ending was pretty great. After WW the boss challenges really lacked. No flare.

Link's Awakening. Seriously what's not to like?
- Storyline/Game Scenario - Ganon's not the villain, you're not saving Princess Zelda, there's no Triforce, and it doesn't take place in Hyrule. Quite a change-up.
- Humor - The maniacal shopkeeper, escorting Marin, the photo side quest in the remake. Maybe I have a weird sense of humor, but they're all hilarious.
- Emotion - The whole game has a melancholic quality to it. As you progress the storyline and learn about Koholint, you can't help but feel... I dunno. Some poignant kind of sadness. And the scene where you help the ghost still makes me feel for the little guy even today.
I love that the game is based a lot on music and features my favorite Zelda song, too.
To top it off the entire experience fits in your pocket. :]
Frankly, though, I've yet to play a Zelda game I don't like. They're all incredible in unique ways.

The first canon Zelda game I ever played was The Wind Waker, and I thought it was fantastic. But Twilight Princess was just amazing, and probably now my favorite one. I am currently playing the Virtual Console version of Ocarina of Time, which I probably should have played years ago on the 64. It's turning out to be quite enjoyable.

My Favourite Zelda Game is Definatly Orcarina of time. Brialliant inovative Storyline and most enjoyable And sad I will add (Link just seems to lose more and more as the game progesses I always feel sorry for him at leas he gets a chance at childhood again), Awsome characters (Absoloutly adore Saria and Malon) and good music. OOT is like its own world every time you play I always find something new or a piece of the story I missed Before The Game just keeps on giving It was the perfect game.

Zelda 2 The Adventures Of Link: I like that one because its like playing Castlevania but at the sametime isn't and if you play Zelda 2 an Castlevania 2 for NES they both are almost them same game in someways; but I like it because you level up as well as its not to easy but if you know what you doing its not to hard.

This is a tough one (as RPM well knows as he has asked me before)...
Ocarina, Majora's Mask, and Twilight Princess all come devishly close to taking my number one spot.
Ocarina had the some great challenging puzzles to figure out, on top of the awesome story line. Majora's Mask main story line, though I did like it, was a tad bit short (only 4 main dungeons), it was a slighty darker and sadder story, and there were plenty of side quests and dungeon set-up times to boot. Adding in the constant time constraints made for a very good game. And killing Goht at high speed just to pass the time was fun! And as for Twilight Princess, the fact that you get to play as a wolf in this game automatically gives it major props in my book. There weren't too many challenges that I couldn't figure out, though the Sacred Grove statues and the Lost Woods the first time around were rather challenging. I wasn't terribly impressed with the bosses overall, except for the boss of the Arbiter's Grounds, of course. Plus, it also had a great story line.
My personal favorite would probably be Majora's Mask, but that is by almost nothing. You might as well call it a three way tie.

So many titles, including the oracle of time and seasons which many might not like, but they were good. I played OOT and its Master Quest version to great delight; then I tried Majora's Mask, but I dead-ended in in his final body battle as my expansion pak (replica) just gave out; still makes me mad to not have beaten it. As many have said, there is barely enough differences between my faves, but ultimately I must make WindWaker my top choice. Not only because of its cute chibiness, but because of its use of an entirely different overworld of the ocean, and overly uber music, I kept humming along to that Gaelic/Flamenco mix...good times.

Majora's Mask.
The amount of depth put in that game -from character, to events, to the world- just makes MM the most memorable game of my childhood. The dark, moody, themes also play well for me. Clearly, MM is the darkest Zelda game out there, IMO.

Ocarina of Time cause it was a gem that revolutionized gaming! :D
and Windwakewr for it graphics
...still makes me mad to not have beaten it.
Just download a save off Gamefaqs.com or something and emulate it, would be a shame to go so far and not finish it.
By the way, am I the only one here who simply cannot get into 2D Zeldas?
It's weird, I absolutely love the 3D ones, but I never managed to get far in 2D ones.
They simply bore me to death. I tried A Link to the Past, Oracle of Seasons and Minish Cap and haven't gotten past a dungeon or two in any of them.

I liked WW just for the sheer amount of stuff you could do. A short list of some awesome optional things in WW:
Birdman contest
Barrel shoot minigame
Zee Fleet
Fighting gunboats with the cannon
Fighting towers with the cannon
Killing stuff with the Skull Hammer for the heck of it
Savage Labyrinthe
Getting a full chart
Countless optional dungeons on numerous islands
Shooting Merman
THE NINTENDO GALLERY!
Watching Armos explode (it seriously looked cool with the smoke animation and all)
Sailing through flags on the way to an island
Jumping into tornadoes
The sliding picture puzzles
What an excellent game.

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link because of three reasons:1) You can level your character up through more playing, 2) It's a 2-dimensional side scroller, and 3) It is the only ''Legend of Zelda'' title I have yet to ever beat (which I know is a bad reason, but it came down to either this or the original ''The Legend of Zelda,'' and it's almost too hard to choose.)

Mine is a tie between ALTTP and Majora Mask
As a kid, when I first seen ALTTP, I was amaze at it graphics. (I was abuse, so I never got to play it till recent years,(seriously))
ALTTP was what started all current zelda items and ability to go into different dimension(mispelled). The music was great. The puzzles were even better. And most of the bosses were awesome. The ability to upgrade past the Master Sword was cool( I still like Twlilight Light Sword better). What was even more awesome was the ability to run and stab things and abuse chicken (I Know I wasnt the only one)
Majora Mask
Firece Deity Link (Nuff said)
Majora Mask allow you to manipulate time with Zelda Orcarina. Getting masks and interacting with other was awesome. But the bosses, level, and enemies were what maade me love it. The first time in a Zelda game where you can beat bosses over and over again. Any boss that killed me earlier in the game, I would go back with Fierce Deity Mask and Owned everyone. I drag out fight from sub bosses like the Gero Master. Gero Master is a true ninja (unlike most people in naruto, including naruto Pre-Shippuden). I love all the level except the water temples. Why are Water Temple are horrible and hard?

It's the highest-rated game on Metacritic, scoring a 99/100. In case no one knows, Metacritic takes the scores from a bunch of semi-big to big reviewers and averages them. The average is weighted, meaning bigger reviewers like IGN and GameInformer will have more of an impact on the game's average score. Another impressive thing is that the lowest score calculated into the Metacritic score of Ocarina of Time was a 90/100. Mostly, the game got 100/100s.

Hard to choose one favorite, but I've got two. ^^''
Majora's Mask. It has a dark story (JUST THE WAY I LIKE 'EM 8D) and expands more into younger Link's abilities. That, and being able to change into a Deku, a Goron, a Zora (favorite), a giant, and the Fierce Diety...though the transformations scare me.
Wind Waker. Besides the cutesy style, it has an interesting story with rather complex characters.

i love majoras mask too :) but i think the abilities were not being able to transform into those creatures but more into how he coped with handling situations accordingly with those creatures OWN abilities.
..or something like that lol!
but yea. great story! and fierce deity link is the best =D

I did enjoy Link to the Past, though i could never figure out how to beat it.
If you want advice on beating it. Just ask me. I'll help you out.

A Link To The Past.
I remember when it first came out on the SNES. I was up for 24 hours straight playing it until I finished. I couldn't put the damn thing down. lol
I still get it out from time to time and play it (yes, I have 3 fully functioning SNES'). :)

Either Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. Ocarina is one of the best video games EVER! Majora's Mask is fun because of Ocarina, how you find the same characters in both the games.

i counter with: Link: The Faces of Evil
lol. seriosuly, Oracle GBC games. casue my friedn bought ages, i bought seasons, and we traded after every playthrough. its how i learned rythm control in video games, damn goron dancing...
i recently just lost my data on a zelda 1 no death all items playthrough, quest 2, 3rd dungeon... damn emulators and their required naming schemes.
i find it difficult to play, espicially when there is no dialogue in the game whatsoever. the manual/boxart tells the entire story, and thats all before you even pop the game in.
so its up there for me, but i would love if they remade it and added a bit more people and maybe some idea of wtf is going on.
fianlly, in my top 3,
OOT. no other game allows you to play with stray dogs all night long.
i do not prefer majora's mask as the whole limited time to get even simplest tasks done annoys me. its a fair game overall, pushing the boundaries of the machine. oh and, having to redo skullutula houses, FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU,

It's so hard to pick just one... If I had to it would probably be Majora's Mask. But then Link's Awakening and Link to the Past would be right behind it.

Hi,
I like all the types of Zelda game because they all are the good and I play games on my Dish TV so they give me extra quality in game.
Good luck!

Hate me for it, but tbh I liked Twilight Princess the most. I felt like it was the most expansive, and considering I'm a huge graphics/interface junkie that's an obvious advantage.
OoT was good but I felt it was a bit too easy; if they took Master Quest, made it harder throughout the game, and then gave it TP's graphics I'd be in heaven.
