Ok so far there have been 5 Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers at Hogwarts. Out of those five teachers which one did you like best?

I liked Lupin the best. We is a nice guy. Very creative. And he taught Harry my favorite spell. EXPECTO PATRONUM!!!!

I thought Imposter Moody was pretty cool. The way he tought his lessons and tghe way he was always so paranoid. Shame he turned out to be a fake.

Quirrel, we didn't get much character development out of him.
Lockhart was too pompous, but is alright now.

Lupin is first for me, because of the Marauders. Fake Moody is a close second though, I was in shock when he was shown to be fake, and then shocked even more when it turned out to be Crouch Jr.

Lupin and Moody were both awesome in their own ways. Like Moody said in the beginning "Professor Lupin taught you about dark creatures, I'll teach you to defend against dark spells." or something like that :p

I see what Slavik is getting at. It was a good change of pace to have a DADA teacher that hated Harry instead of giving him special privalege as others have. Though Harry has hated DADA during one year prior to Umbridge. I'm pretty sure he couldn't have looked forward to his second year classes with Lockhart either.

True, he didn't really like Lockhart, but it was more of a: "This guy is a moron!" type thing...

He didn't dread the classes like Potions with Severous, or DADA with Umbridge...

Not a "I hate his (her) guts" type of thing...

Anywho,My favorite is Mad-Eye Moody.Even if he was a fake,he was still
the coolest Defense Against The Dark Arts teacher Harry ever had.(Well,
except maybe for Lupin.)The next DATDA teacher will HAVE to be good,
now that everybody knows that Voldemort is back.(unless something happens)I personally hope it won't be Snape.

Not Bill, not Fleur, not Lupin, not Moody, not Snape, not Dumbledore, not Tonks, not Dobby, not Fred+George, not Mr Weasly, not Percy, not Krum, not Winky, not Dudley, not Mark Evans, not anyone. We'll have to wait until the opening chapters of HBP to meet the new teacher.

I wish Snape was going to be the new teacher in book 6. He'd be the ideal teacher since he was a death eater and knows everything Voldemort is capable of. So he'd know exactly what to teach. I hated Umbridge. I don't think she got hers as bad as she should have gotten it. That Hem hem was so annoying! Anyway, I liked the fake Moody the best. Lupin was a nice guy an introduced a lot of dark creatures, but Moody was a lot more fun because he got into the real meat of it. He showed the Unforgivable Curses and didn't hold back. He showed them things that no other teacher had the guts to show them. Too bad he was the fake Moody, because he was quite convincing. He was a very competent teacher. Harry certainly loved it. Lupin was nice, but I'm gonna go with the fake Moody.

Mad eye all the way, that eye, the skills, and he was an auror, a perfect example for harry.In my opinion the fake moody did the same things, the real Mad eye would have done.

I think Lupin was kind of funny, every time Harry was attacked by a Dementor, he kept offering Harry chocolate, telling him it'd make him feel better. Ha! Nearly having your soul sucked out, and the only thing that can seem to make you feel better is chocolate....

I personally liked Mad-Eye Moody. Imposter and all, but he was actually teaching how to defend against two major curses, and even though the third was unblockable (Except by, of course, Harry) he actually taught about it...

Funny I've yet to hear the name "Quirrel" mentioned. He was a DAtDA teacher you know.

Also on the disscusion of Harry's attitude toward the class no one mentioned first year. He didn't hate it first year but he was kinda meh about it.

Anyway Lupin would have to be my favourite charecter of the DAtDA teachers but impostor Moody gave the most enthralling lessons.

Quirrel-Wasn't involved enough until the end
Lockheart-So full of himself I DESPISED him
Moody-He is a close second he was cool too....I was really disappointed he was a fake
Umbridge-Ugh i dislike her alot, theres a fine line between entertainingly evil, tricky and under the radar and annoyingly so. She was annoying!

By the way did anyone notice that the D.A.T.D.A. teacher didn't start changing every year until Harry came around?

1.Lupin: Badass. Simply badass. And werewolves>j00.
2.Lockhart: He was just hilarious. Best. Laughing stock. Ever.
3.Umbridge:0_o Yeah, this suprised myself as well. It was somewhat entertaining watching the Weasley twins annoy her to death.
4.Moody: Badass, but we didn't see enough of the REAL him.
5.Quirrel: Did we ever get any actual details on his lessons?

Lupin was definitely the best person out of all the D.A.D.A. teachers, but fake Moody was the best teacher. He gave intense lessons and trained them against the Imperius Curse. He may have been an imposter, but you must admit that he knew what he was talking about and taught them some very important, hardcore lessons. The previous teachers trained them against dark creautres mostly, but fake Moody actually taught them how to defend against Death Eaters.
