Balmung SAYS: If you guys go scaling and posts weights, make sure you tell what set it was and if it was Booster or Blister. It'll make things easier for me to keep track of for the file. Also If you do list weights, let us know what you pulled.

Also to all of our scalers, congratulations are in order as we have now cleared 30 threads. I believe that this is the oldest running thread on Pojo now.

The usual rules apply, no flaming/spamming/trolling. No warring over .1 scale VS .01 scale

After seeing the war initiated in the older threads, there will be no warring over the fairness of trading tolerated in this thread.

To be added onto the ScaLer Territory, you must PM me your information. I will require your name, state, and where you scale. Those three things are needed. If you post your territory claim in the forum you will NOT get the territory.

Please read this. Involving the Balmung's HoloPull, Begining of Scaling Weights, and Scaler Territory files, you must right click the link and then use Save Target As to view them. It will download the .doc file to your comp for your veiwing pleasures.

Or you may use Copy Shortcut and paste it in your addrss bar. This is the only help I am giving on this topic. If you ask me in PM or the thread, I will ignore you.

As for our nonscalers who seem to be popping up in here, you guys are of course welcomed. I do not mind you entering and giving your opinions, as long as you do not do it obnoxiously or start a flame fight. If you wish to post in here, I will be asking all of you to treat us with respect as this is our thread. In otherwords, behave.

Mm, you bend the packs slightly, the harder packs are more likely to be Holos.

You aren't kidding. I am 9 out of 20 in GLAS blisters. =\ No secrets, only 2 Ultras (Orb and Lightning Golem) and a lot of bad supers. =\ Then again, my luck with TAEV hasn't been too much better in terms of pulling ratio, (about 58% compared to 45% with GLAS) although I have 8 secrets, and 5 Crystal Seers to show from TAEV.

hey everyone, i'm not a scaler, but i did try the pack trick with the overlapping ink and white dots, and i got 3/4 holos.

Pardon my intrusion, but would someone be so kind as to explain this trick to me?

Like the word "English" at the top right of the pack might be blurred with the red ink overlapping the white text. Pack could have a holo in it basically.

White dots are when the machine is running out of ink when printing the holo packs.

Could you like... take a picture of a pack that has that.. or scan a pack that has that? Because I have like 7 GLAS packs (I keep my empty packs :P) and none of them have that.

My... It does work. I looked at three packs I got last Saturday, and the one as you so stated contained an Energy-Absorbing Monolith. This will be handy when I buy packs today. Do you know if it is usually the case with Secret Rares? Since I will be purchasing from a fresh box, should I buy all the packs with the overlap first? And I am afraid I still do not understand the "white dots" part. Where would these dots be at?

Should work with all holos I think.

White dots are found on the arm of Chaos Neos as well as his hand. Both of which are on the right hand side of the pack.

Openned a box +6 packs of 1st Ed. GLAS. Noticable pulls were two Lightning Golems, a Cunning of the Six Samurai, ULT Sheep Cloud, and Enishi. NO Secret...

Honestly, I am on a borrowed budget, as I am looking for a job at the moment. Once I get one, I can work full time... then after I purchase a new Taekwondo uniform and sparring gear and rejoin, the months following... I may have about $50-$100 budget for Yu-Gi-Oh!.

Just wondering. What's the difference between a booster and a blister? I was going to try out the overlapping ink glitch and apparently it only works with blisters, so I'd like to get it right (I NEEDZ TEH SOEL TAEKIRZ).

Alright, just went to target and searched the 8 Blisters they had there. Two of them fit the description. I got:

[Ultra] Evil Hero Inferno Wing
[Rare] Gladiator Beast Laquari

I'm not entirely sure the text fit what it was supposed to be: it didn't look very blurry. It did, however, have much more of a reddish tint than the rest. The one that I got Inferno Wing from had some barely noticeable dots on the first G, the first D, and the last N. The second didn't have any dots noticeable to me but it did still have the reddish tint that I previously mentioned. So, I'm not entirely sure I even got the correct packs.

They both did, however, have noticeable white dots around their left shoulders. The strange thing was, the one that had the most numerous and clearly visible dots contained Laquari, while the one that had very few dots that were all fairly hard to notice (and only noticed because I closer inspected it due to the reddish tint) contained Inferno Wing.

So, assuming that I didn't completely blow the glitch with the text on the Laquari pack, this is definitely not a 100% glitch. And, even if I did, the first, which definitely fits it all (except the blur, which I may just not be noticing since I didn't compare the sharpness to other packs) had an Ultra instead of Secret. So, if Laquari fits, it proves it may not be anything at all, if Inferno Wing fits and Laquari doesn't, then it proves that it most likely helps out but doesn't guarantee that it's going to be a secret, but rather just something of a higher rarity.

On another note, I also picked up some Premium Packs while I was at Target and got a Shield Crush, which made me happy. Also got another Shadow-Imprisoning Mirror in my two packs, which completes the traps of my planned deck. Go me again.

How much does Inferno Wing sell for, anyway? Or trade value?

Ya the ink glitch definitly is not 100%, nor is it guaranteed a secret. I was 3/4 and got 2 crappy supers. I saw no difference between my rare pack and any of the holo ones.

And if you dont want the Inferno Wing, I would trade for it, as I am a collector.

As far as i can tell my method has only worked so far on blister packs, this most likely has to do with them being mass produced much less cautiously then boxes.

In my final scale run on GLAS I was able to scale an ULT version of Updraft, on top of a Plasmavice secret, and a Gladiator Beast Alexander (out of 7 packs). -_-

I used the pack trick for GLAS with the Bleeding letters this morning. It's not 100%, but it's close, or at least it was for me. I bought 10 packs, 1 pack was a test pack, so technically 9. I got:

I'm not sure who released the new Kingdom Hearts trading card game, but I was curious if it too was scalible... it is. Very very scalible.

I'm curious if scaling other card games and selling singlle on ebay to raise cash to buy yu-gi-oh singles is a possibilty. I'll report back later when I find a price guide for KH...

The sad part is that my local gamestop is carrying KH cards and not yu-gi-mons cards... :(

I thought it was pretty good as well. The first pack I opened contained the Secret Rare, which I thought was awesome. Ultimates are also nice as well. I will try this out the day after Christmas.

I did my first scaling run at 7-Eleven just now. Here's what I pulled and I took note of whether or not the pack had the "ENGLISH EDITION" letter bleed:

I don't think there's any printing error on Aster packs. Mind you I don't think anyone really checked them out that much since it was just easier to bust open the box, scale out the heaviest pack and walk out with your new Mali/DDraw.

I've tried like crazy to find printing errors on FOTB but that's a very well printed set, duelist packs however usually have the bleeding errors on the top or bottom of the lettering for english edition. Pulled a decent amount of holos from that judai pack 2 that way.

Cunning is pretty tradeable since it's Six Samurai support and everyone seems to want that for some reason. The others aren't really tradeable but Expressroid is pretty nifty.

Today was Boxing Day so while taking my cousin out to Vaughan Mills Mall we went into a Toys 'r us.
He saw some packs he wanted to buy with his Christmas cash. Were blisters.
So I went to my car and took my trusty Palmscale.
It was freezing so we waited an hour before scaling.

Here's the post from the last thread with the pics and instructions regarding the bleed trick:

After many tests it seems ive found a printing error for glas that makes pulling holos extremely easy. As with my last pack printing error this one is not 100% guaranteed to work but has worked 100% for me SO far.

As with the last packs the first thing to look for is overlapping red in the English edition part of the pack. Here is the english edition part of the pack from a holo pack.

Notice how the letter N on both words has overlapping red. While looking for the english edition error for a holo, compare it to other packs. The holo pack's english edition letters should seem more blurry since the machine is running out of ink for the holos and is overlapping the letters.

Step 2:

After finding a GLAS pack with overlapping red letters in the english edition part of the pack look at the outstretched arm and shoulder of chaos neos. The pack should have white splotches or verticle white lines where there is NO ink on the pack. Notice all the lighter small white spots on chaos neos's arm? That combined with the first trick should mean there's a very good chance it's a holo.

So far i have tried this trick only twice but it has worked 100%. My first pack i pulled a cunning of the six samurai and my second pack i pulled my first dragon ice. Please feel free to try this trick in your area on at least one pack. I would test it more in my walmart but i already bought the 2 packs they had like this and they only stocked 10 GLAS packs. Ile try this again at target if i can. Good luck guys.

I've never tried the bleeding part but I'll definitely do that when I get back from the Philippines, my flight got cancelled because too many friggin' people booked in the same flight so I'll catch the next one by tomorrow but on the bright side, I bought 6 Packs of GLAS WITHOUT scaling but i'll scale by next month and got some decent pulls but with a cool result:

Try most major "chain" stores. Practically anything with Toys and Games.
Eg. Target, Kmart, Wal-mart, Toys 'r' us, KB Toys, etc.

Try Card, Collectible, and Game shops. (Some are major chain stores too)
Eg. Gamestop, EB games, Funcoland, private owned corner shops (don't ask card shop owners), etc.

Try supermarkets, and pharmacies, large chains usually carry toys & cards.
Eg. Kroger, Fred Meyer, Albertsons, Vons, Rite Aid, Walgreens, etc.

Try gas stations and convenience stores.
Eg. Texaco, 7-11, AM/PM, Shell, Mobil, Circle K, etc.

The Phone-book and Yellow-pages are your best friend! :D

They were all in blisters and I compared them all to each other. I'd say there were about fifteen or so.

I just bought 6 packs of the "Bleed Trick" GLAS at Wal*Mart, 5 rares!
There were a total of 17 packs, most seem to have "English Edition" bleed problems
BUT only these 6 ALSO had very noticeable "ink missing" from the shoulder and hand.

I believe its a coincidence now. The idea behind the "Bleed Trick" is pretty simple, the printer that did the early batch of hologram packs was offset or the page layout was changed after the normal packs were printed.

I believe now, most of the packs in the stores are an entire new batch vs. the earliest printings. So in essence any batch that goes through that offset printer will come out looking like a "bleed". (My 2 cents!) :D

Heres how to use the bleed "trick". When cards are printed different printers print different rarities and they also print the packs they come in. So therefore every pack with the same markings will determine how rare the card is in it. It doesn't mean more bleed = more rare, it could actually be the opposite and all the really "bloody" ones are just normal rares.

If you have a full box separate them all into piles depending on the markings. The piles with the least amount of packs should contain the rarest cards and the packs with the biggest pile should contain all normal rare cards. Or you can buy a pack from each pile to see which piles has which rarities(maybe that box had 20 secret rares?)

It only really works for boxes as the packs in them where all printed on the same day so each rarity will have distinctive markings.

NEVER do this with blisters. Just don't bother. Like I said more bleed does not mean better cards and because blisters could possibly be all printed over a period of time the calibrations could be fixed making it impossible to pick blisters out. (I lifted a pack form Wal*Mart last night that was completely "bleedy", the whole image had a ghost like effect, what was the card? Expressriod. so there ya go)

As I just said the bleed trick does nothing unless you already now what markings contain what rarity. And those markings will change in every box and be completely irrelevant with blister packs.

You just happened to get lucky and the pack you picked just happened to have a holo in it. That means that every pack printed ON THE SAME DAY will have those markings, so if you got it from a box all the packs in THAT box with those markings will have the same rarity. Once they recalibrate the printers there is no way to tell until you start the whole process over again and it's impossible to tell which boxes where printed on the same day/with the same calibration.

The ONLY way the "bleed trick" will work is if you have a full box and separate the packs based on markings. If you bought a bleed pack and it randomly came with a holo in it then it was merely coincidence.

You got 6/6 because you just happened to pick 6 packs that where printed on the same day so there ya go. I am saying that it does work just that bleed does not equal holo. The bleeding is merely just a marking so you can distinguish between packs. Like I said if you find a bleed pack in a box that has a holo, every bleed pack just like it IN THAT BOX has a holo.

No but I'm telling you this. Bleed packs do not have a higher chance. Some people just happened to buy a bunch of bleed packs that just so happened to be holo packs so they think bleed = holo which is not true. The bleeding is a marking.

Take this for example. You can buy 2 boxes that where both printed after different machine calibrations. The first box will have all their super rare cards in packs with the same markings(same bleeding) the second box will also have all it's super rare cards in packs with the same markings(or maybe none at all) but the second boxes markings may not match the first boxes markings. So unless you know what marking to look for in what box it's merely coincidence that you happened to pick the right ones.

Take this for example. You can buy 2 boxes that where both printed after different machine calibrations. The first box will have all their super rare cards in packs with the same markings(same bleeding) the second box will also have all it's super rare cards in packs with the same markings(or maybe none at all) but the second boxes markings may not match the first boxes markings. So unless you know what marking to look for in what box it's merely coincidence that you happened to pick the right ones.

I've actually worked in a print shop, and the rule was once you start the print job, you don't stop.
Unless you know its a very critical error and could cost you your job.
A plate offset or small page layout error usually gets over looked, unless the order had to be precise and highly accurate.
...Which I doubt UDE/Konami even really cares...

I dont think anyone has said that the bleed tricks will contain certain rarities, just that packs w/ bleed have higher chance of containing holos.

Well it was purely coincidence. That or those stores just happened to get packs printed off the same calibration.

Lets just say UDE has 3 printers set up. 1 prints the normal rares, 2 prints the super rares and 3 prints the ultras. They print a days worth of cards and it's impossible to have all 3 printers printing exactly on the same calibration so there is going to be distinctive markings(bleedings) between the different rarities. A few days later they decide to calibrate printer 3 because they notice some very distinctive bleeding. Now the ultra rares will be in packs that have different markings then they did before the calibration. Now imagine a factory with dozens of printers that are contently getting calibrated, the packs printed on the same days(every box contains packs from the same day) will all have the same markings(holos may be bleed packs) then they may recalibrate the printers to that the holos are now "clean" packs and the normal rares have more bleeding. So outside of a new box it's nearly impossible to tell.

as for the bleeding ink, it just may be that the printers have fixed this error. but considering how well The First Hokage has done, if I can do decently using the ink trick, ill use it as opposed to just randomly buying packs.

The bleed trick does work. But DO NOT just buy the most "bloody packs". You may open them all to find nothing but normal rares. I would suggest only doing it with boxes, seperating all the packs into different piles based on their markings and then buying the smallest piles(boxes usually come with less holos then normal rares so the biggest pile will be all normal).

If you insist on doing it on blisters then go ahead. Just be warned that it means nothing(like I said I just lifted a pack that where the entire picture had a ghost effect and it was an expressriod). If you feel it will give you a better chance then go ahead. But if you notice they just re-stocked the blisters I would suggest doing the same as you would with a box. Separate them into piles and buy from the smallest.

In Short, yes, you are correct.

To get the 'bleed' trick to work,
Open a brand new box. Make 3 piles of the cards, 'bleeds', 'non-bleeds' and 'bleeds with ink missing', whichever pile has the less will usually be your HOLOS. :D

just did the bleed trick at walmart. Only bought 5 packs. Got a murmillo, 2 gaiodiaz, an inferno wing, and a tongue twister. So 40 percent my first time and I got an ultra and a secret. Pretty good?

I bought some GLAS and Dark Rev 3? is it? Well for some reason the weights were more than usual.
15-15.1/2 were rares. All 15.4's were holos (the janky evil hero lightning golem X2, Cunning Torax updraft)
And the Dark Rev 3. All holos are 19.6+ I pulled lightning vortex tradegy and i bought another 19.6 and it was some janky rare. Pft. I hate scaling jank supers/ultras.
Oh I scaled some DCR but I cant remember the weights xD

The bleed trick does work, especially for hobby boxes. I remember back in the day when FET just came out and I found a full box of FET with a noticeable bleed for 8 packs. Every single one had at least a super, and the Ultra had a super in the same pack. I cleaned out that box, haha.

Me and a m8 went on a scaling run for the first time at Toys a Rus and we scaled out 2 entire boxes of TAEV and 1 box of GLAS picked 4 heavy ones and they were all supers.

TAEV:

15.1 Alessa (Out of the entire sealed box this was the heaviest?!)

15.0 x3 Alessa, Blazewing, Master (Other box)

GLAS:

15.2 Sheep Cloud (Entire glas box)

Im sure our scale is damaged and all the weights were the exactly same (All 15.0). The other week some ppl we banging on the table near the scale would that break it or decalibrate it?

So the boxes were sealed right? If not then someone could have already lucked out on the Ultra and Secret. The store could have also thrown loose packs into a half empty box which would have affected the results.

Yeah the entire TAEV box was sealed and the other boxes were opened but full behind all the old packs like AST etc, like nothing had bin done to them. Also in the UK scaling ain't popular and around here i would know if anyone would have scaled it out.

Also did my first scaling, here I bought 2 GLAS and 1 DP03 Pack, here's my results:

14.4: Gladiator Beast Alexander
9.5: Elemental Hero Dark Neos
14.2: Dark Fusion

Hey, I am new here, and I followed the booster pack ink method (or whatever it is called) to test it out, and believe me, it works XD

(I have yet to receive my pocket scale from mail, so this is what I'll do until i get it lol)

I got a Secret Rare from the only pack I bought!

Now, lets compare the pack colorings from THE pack, and another normal pack that I bought from another store that did not even let me choose.

Note that the letterings of the holo pack words at the top right are a little smudged with red ink, while the sides of the rainbow dragon which is supposed to have black outlines consists of a whitish shade. The holo-pack image looks abit blurry and when looked at closely enough, you'll be able to see the difference, that is why I posted both images for your ease of view XD

So I think we can safely say that the Bleed trick does work. It just doesn't work 100% of the time. Differing print runs, etc can and will affect it.

Today i bought 6 packs of GLAS and a GLAS SE. In the packs of GLAS I pulled:

GB Torax (Super)
Test Tiger (Ultra - Playset now, 2 ulti 2 ultra ^^)

In the GLAS SE I got:

Different Dimension Dragon (w/e it's called) (Super)
GB Alexander (Super)
Defensive Tactics (Super)

Looks like the bleed trick only works in USA, as none of the packs were "bleeding" over here. And yes, people in UK, buy GLAS SE. More chance of getting Holo's. Lol.

You can not scale ones covered in plastic. The plastic and cardboard meeses up the weights.
