i have never heard of any of these pokemon, but their movesets are terrible. don't put more than 1 move that does the same thing on there, it disables them from being versatile (ie if you have thunderbolt, get rid of thunder...if you have fire blast and flamethrower get rid of one for something else useful).

What do you mean? I think they have very good attack moves and with this team today I beat Spenser at the battle palace and yesterday I beat Lucy at the battle pike and one more win and I'll be at Anabel of the battle tower!:p

You picked great Pokemon, but their movesets don't have enough variety. Here's my suggestion.
Sceptile: Leaf Blade, Earthquake, Hyper Beam, Giga Drain
Camerupt: Flamethrower/Eruption, Earthquake, Rock Slide, Fissure
Gardevoir: Psychic, Thunderbolt, anything, anything
Salamence: Dragon Claw, Aerial Ace, Flamethrower, Brick Break
Manectric: Thunderbolt, Crunch, Headbutt, Protect
Walrein: Surf, Ice Beam, Earthquake, Rest/Sheer Cold
Also, you didn't list their held items or which abilities they have.

Yeah...
Sorry to burst your bubble and all, but how well you do against the CPU usually isn't an accurate reflection of your skills since outpredicting the CPU is as easy as shooting a dead duck.

I disagree. In most cases that statement is quite true, but this guy is talking about the Battle Frontier in Emerald version. It doesn't matter how skilled you are, the Battle Frontier is incredibly frustrating and pretty near impossible. The rules are rigged to favor the CPU over you. If you can get all the gold symbols, or even just all the silver symbols, I salute you.

yea BF is quite frustrating. i beat about half of the leaders. i became bored and stopped, but i had a trained team so i suppose i could have beaten them all.......... eventually.
i also used Sceptile (sp. sweeper) and Salamence (mixed)
Sceptile: Leaf Blade/Thunder Punch/Dragon Claw/Crunch
Salamence: Dragon Dance/Aerial Ace/EQ/Dragon Claw
u dont necessarily have to retrain or remake them all; just add different types of attacks to each moveset.

Why do so many people give Dragon Claw to Sceptile? I'm curious, because Dragon Claw only has one strength, Dragon, and so it will just do okay damage to most opponents. It's not like it gets STAB or covers one of Sceptile's weaknesses. So why is it a popular Sceptile move?

actually, i didn't know it popular - is it really?
well i made that one in-game for the BF, where straight sweeping seems to be the most effective. looking back now, Crunch/Dragon Claw could clearly be dropped for for a support move. the process being: i simply examined all the special attacks he could learn, and chose the 4 best, being those.
Additional Comment:
oh to actually answer your question, maybe it's the "hey it's a grass pokemon that can use dragon claw!" factor more than anything else

Dragon Claw is good because it doesn't have "not very effective" against any type but Steel.
Drop Fissure/Sheer Cold, they're just there for filling, I suppose, and that's not so good.
Also, Double Team is banned.
