Um, acutally 200-500 I think he means. But there is a rarer card then that, there is only one or two left. All other copies were destroyed.

Its a very broken card, but really you could buy a tourney-winning deck with the cost of just one lotus.

Edit: oh, and you had better check its not the CE version. Its still valuable, but only 80 or so.

In the event that I actually believe that he GAVE you a Black Lotus, I'd say around, eh...maybe...$100...anybody who would pay more than that needs to be slapped...

*You never get what a card is worth...more around 1/5 or 1/6 of it.

The prices you guys are giving are for the M-NM Versions of the card. Mint Beta can fetch $800+. I would guess yours is from Unl. and is worth in the vicinity of $200 to $300, or less if the condition is really bad.

well to answer a few questions:

Black lotus is a mono artifact from the first 3 sets of magic it costs (0) to play and you tap sacrifice add 3 mana of any one color to your mana pool so yeah combo in a bottle.

and also I saw a signed black lotus in a card shop in oregon that was priced at $295
in probably the worse condition of a recognizable card there can be It had a torn bottom corner a bunch of ink splotches and it looked like it went threw a washing machine(acually it was one of a lot of cards to survive a flood in his basement) I believe it was orignally the owners but after it got ruined he was trying to get rid of it cheap this was when the beta was priced around $2000 nowadays it goes for about $800 like he said if yours has a black border and the same corners as the rest of your cards then it is beta, Black border with odd shaped corners is alpha at about $450 and a white border is unlimited/revised priced around $400 is the highest I've seen one

and oh yeah the most rarest magic card is the "1996 world champion" trust me thats it's name one in existance.

and according to rumors there were 9 copies of a card called proposal but it wasn't acually a card it was an insert attached to a land that richard used to propose to his girlfriend during a magic game. one was given to the artist which was "aparently" stolen and the eight are kept by Richard because he doesn't want the public to see the picture.

there were others he had printed called splendid genesis when his children were born and I have seen those cards. they are black and white pictured green cards that have more of an unglued sort of ability and a poem on them as the flavor text. but since none are supposed to be sold you can say they really aren't the most expensive since they are considered priceless.
