Buy a new one. Anything by Terry Pratchett or Neil Gaiman. Pratchett is British, but his books make me forgive that flaw.

Try Matthew Reilly. He rules at writing. I've only read Temple, but that is, alone, great talent.

*nervous twitch*

. . .

But I agree, Terry Pratchett is an AWESOME author, so go read some Discworld books.
And read the His Dark Materials trilogy, if you haven't already.

As for HP, you need to read books 4 and 5 at least twice to fully appreciate them....

I'd say reread 4 and 5 once or twice, then check out some stuff by R.A. Salvatore, Elaine Cunningham, and Piers Anthony. All great authors, especially Salvatore.

I have a feeling you mean their non-Star Wars though. XD

hm, I need to read some of their stuff, actually... they're good authors..

I recommend Star Wars New Jedi Order. 18 books of loveliness *Has only read up to book 5 though*.

Check out the Shannara series by Terry Brooks. There's a lot of installments to choose from, but they're all awesome imo.

And read the His Dark Materials trilogy, if you haven't already.

>nods< Yep. Awesome series, but it's so detailed.... takes awhile go through.

i recommend reading the second one again--very carefully, JK said there are clues in it for HBP

after that i recommend Tracy Chevalier's The Lady and the Unicorn...if u'r a girl, also Angels and Demons/DaVinci Code by Dan Brown if u haven't already done so.

Hey, he only said "if". No need to be so defensive.

And go read "The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-time". Good stuff.
