I pitched the idea to my friend who posted it on Gleemax under the name Renalcul. This is a version that the boards fixed up. The original idea was too complex so I felt that the Panglacial Wurm effect was better.

Shouldn't the Impulse cost be MORE than its casting cost?
There's no real reason it should be more, but it just feels wrong to me. It's like you never want to draw it, because you can always sac a Terramorphic Expanse or something and search it out AND play it for cheaper.

It should at least be a Sorcery. It'd STILL be strictly better than Volcanic Hammer then.

I can see it being cheaper if it's the original mechanic (i.e. "As you draw this card, you may play it for its Impulse cost,), but the "Whenever you search your library, you get to play a bunch of cards in it for cheap" would be hard to do without being broken. (It'd have to be in a search-heavy block, too, which just scares me in terms of power level.)

Maybe affiliate impulse with a card type? Like say instant? Or we could just make the impulse cost RR(R?). either way balances it.

Impulse is already a card ( look at the top 4 cards of library put one into hand shuffle rest back in)

Dredge is also a card. Same goes for Vigilance. And Onslaught. And Future Sight. And Morningtide.

should definately cost more than R to play w/ impulse, 2R, or RR would be good
